Rubber Ducky Prospecting #9 - Andy and Barbara are out in the southern motherlode of California at a historically hydraulic mined area where there is tertiary gravels from ancient river channel. We are truly prospecting as we sample some spots in the wall of gravels to see if there is anything in it worth expending any serious time on later this year... Oh, and there is a 60% chance of thunder storms at this location today just to make it interesting.

You are correct... just a few weeks ago we found that .8 gram nugget. We have learned to sample sample sample, once you find a spot with some color in the pan dig a few buckets and then sample again to see if you are still on the gold. Saves a lot of wasted effort. When we first got started we would dig 10 or 15 buckets and put it through the sluice and only get .001 grams. Now we are more selective but the skunk still finds us still somedays. Gold is where you find it for sure. Thanks for watching and I hope we continue to provide entertainment and education to the community!

I will say there's some big gold in that area. Just be careful because it's all claimed up. That was Jeff's claim, but he doesn't really care about the stuff by the rd

According to my information the dirt removed was inside of the lines for a UPI club claim. The water where I put the sluice was just outside of the claim but we were not removing minerals from there, just using the creek which is a legal surface use of public lands.

@RubberDuckyProspecting oh no don't take me wrong, he absolutely is totally cool about it. Upi is basically the same. Sorry it came off wrong. The amra claim up the hill has really nice gold in the right spot. But the area in general has some big nuggets. I have made alot of money in that area.

@nhragold1922 no worries. We try very hard to verify land status and boundaries of claims we are allowed to work. We use CalTopo and plot the boundaries from the guides, MLRS, and other resources and use the GPS to try and be sure we do not step on anyone's toes. If we do it is because of bad information but we certainly try and exercise due diligence... I agree about that area being a great spot with the tertiary gravel being the big deposition mechanism. The first AMRA claim we ever worked a few years back was OURS and we are still exploring it including the area up the hill on the east side of Jackass Creek. Between GPAA, AMRA, UPI, Coarse Gold, and Reinke we have a lot of really good ground to play in!
