"That Smell" (Live) Artimus Pyle Band! 

Artimus wasn't even an original member of the pre crash band. Don't know why he thinks he can still do those songs with his band. Maybe go back on tour with the actual Skynyrd with Johnny and Gary and Rickey.

Scott Raines has made great efforts to emulate what all of the LS guitar players did. He has a RU-vid video series of LS tutorials. He did not do one on "That Smell", but he has one on a different Gaines song, "You Got That Right". Exactly, because they "not" Skynyrd. I've always thought that Artimus was the "real drummer" of Skynyrd , he is and was the best drummer for them, he had everything , image and most of all talent and he's creative with it. It was probably his idea to let a few stops last a second longer to give this song that stoned delay to fuck people up, I think it was quite clever. Also, I always knew that Artimus would be the one that would survive an accident like what happened to Skynyrd in '77, I've been through a lifetime of near-misses and I think I qualify as a "Street Survivor" lol. Keep rockin' Artimus and excellent band members. A proud Canadian and Skynyrd fan. P.S. Jojo was a sweetie !!!!

You got that shot right!!! It was all about the music for Ronnie. I understand it's called the "Music Business", and I have absolutely no problem with any artist earning a great living from their art/craft, but this bloated thing that's called LS today, is noting more than a glorified cover band living off the legend and name of LS. Sorry, but that's how I see it. This performance here, is a lot more LS than anyone, and has the spirit of the original band.

I agree. His Tutorials are on RU-vid to learn the Guitar parts to a few Lynyrd Skynyrd songs. He is a Great Teacher too. He does not beat around the bush, and just shows you how to pull of the solos, and chord changes as if you were there right next to him.

Artimus leaned all the Skynyrd from parts from Bob Burns, the original Skynyrd drummer. He gives Bob huge props.

The Skynyrd today is the better band, this is just a lame ole cover band that plays dives. The actual Skynyrd band is playing stadiums. Yet this band is playing just dives. Johnny is keeping his brothers dream alive. The guy that sings this can't even carry a tune.

@@pjyork8879 Gary Rossington may not come back to your "actual" Skynyrd band. He just had his second emergency heart surgery over the summer. Now there are ZERO real original members from the band, and Rickey really doesn't matter since he was playing drums for the band in 71 and he isn't singing any of those songs. And the one guitarist in APB is a hell of a lot better than any of the members in what is left of Skynyrd, and I prefer his guitar skills over those of Rickey Medlocke. Sure, the singer isn't much but have you HONESTLY listened to Johnny Van Zant lately??? Johnny sounds HORRIBLE as well. I mean, who the hell do you think you are kidding. And Ronnie's Band died a long freaking time ago. It died a slow death, member by member. Johnny was able to handle vocals for several years and then he lost his voice. If Ronnie had lived long enough he also would have lost his voice and he would have lost a lot of his hair too. Ronnie's hair was thin on the top. It was pretty obvious and could have been one reason to start wearing a hat, that and to appear taller. Anyway, I haven't been able to listen to the modern Skynyrd band since around 1997. And I only own the Tribute Tour cd and vinyl and Skynyrd 91. I also have copies of The Last Rebel and Endangered Species but I don't keep them on my shelf because they suck. They don't have cases. I picked up the single of Travelin' Man --- Johnny with Ronnie. All the modern music from this band has been GARBAGE though. I mean, God Bless Gary Rossington but his band is as bad as Molly Hatchet with their brand new singer and he is AWFUL.

@@pjyork8879 Just because Johnny's last name is Van Zant doesn't mean his is automatically some great singer. And Johnny can't sell most any product other than a live performance and he lives off of touring. Maybe people like you enjoy the Skynyrd albums without Ronnie or Allen but tell me why the band never continues to play those songs live? They played some of those song when they came out and then dropped them and continued to play Ronnie's songs. And Johnny was a failed artist who simply attached himself to his brother's band. And as a fan of Skynyrd, I am grateful that he gave the band new life but holy hell, you must be desperately old or just desperate to have to BELIEVE in this SHAM of a Skynyrd band. If Gary is back playing again then I am VERY HAPPY for him. I'm PLEASED to know he is HEALTHY enough to play but the man turns 70 in December, and I think it's the fourth because I looked it up the other day. Sorry, but the modern band just depresses the HELL out of me. I have a massive collection of Skynyrd recordings, all the old 70's recordings, dozens of shows from 87 and 88 and many from 91, 92 and the farthest I went was like one video from 97. The modern Skynyrd band DIED a long time ago. But if a guy like you NEEDS it, then that is OK with me. I carry the band around in my HEART, l faith in JESUS CHRIST all the time. I just don't consider this band to be remotely Skynyrd. The ONLY thing this band does is put money in the grandkids pockets. So if it helps out Corrina Gaines, Johnny's kids, Ronnie's girls and Judy Van Zant, Allen's girls, and so on. And fans got to hear the Complete Muscle Shoals and we got to see Knebworth restored and we got Freebird The Movie, and Collectybles as well. I am thankful to hear the REAL Lynyrd Skynyrd but this modern band is NOT the REAL THING. It is Gary Rossington milking a DEAD COW.

@@jaxflfreebird I grew up on this Skynyrd band, first time I heard Freebird was in 98 when they were playing on Hard Rock Live. If it wasn't for this band, I would have never heard of Skynyrd, that's why I like it better than the original. Always have. I think Ronnie would have been proud of his brother. If you watch the video, Ronnie sings the last verse of Free Bird up on the screen. He's just showing tribute to his brother. So is Gary. I like the precrash lineup and I respect the music they gave but I was born after the plane crash.

Agreed. All due respect to Artimus, however that singer is killing it, in a bad way. Not doing any justice to the song, with a watered down triple guitar attack. Pitiful actually
