That time WCW tried to create the next Rey Mysterio in 99!

Alright the squad. It's time for an all new episode of ring of the hawk. This time we head back in time to 99 WCW. The cruiserweight division was stacked with talent but they decided to add even more. Blitzkrieg was an inexperienced wrestler from Cali who idolised the luchadore style so he trained to be one. With only 3 years wrestling under his belt he headed to wcw where for a very brief time they talked him up as a future star and then they gave up on him. Bt he had some really good matches during his short stay and this wasn't bad.

Super Calo was going into business for himself multiple times, which is why people were so awkward when facing him. That made that six man match an absolute shitshow even more. Blitzkrieg was the precursor to Amazing Red and whatnot. It's crazy to think if he stuck around a bit longer, he could've been an absolute legend with some more work.

YAY BLITZKRIEG!!! I only recently discovered this guy when researching cruiserweight moves, and thought he'd be a throwaway chump at first. Then I saw one of his matches. Then another one. Blitzkrieg is the definition of "ahead of his time". He'd be a lot more successful today, albeit he might've fell into the mix a little bit as there is so many similar to him. He definitely needed to improve his psychology as he kinda just stood around a lot and we didn't get a lick of a character from him, although the latter isn't his fault. I didn't know too much about him prior to this video but I'm glad to have seen his WCW run highlighted.

WCW's cruiserweight division always had this weird segregation thing. You had the bonifide stars - Rey, Eddy, Malenko, Kidman, Juvi, and Ultimo Dragon. Then you had the jobbers like Super Calo, Silver King, El Dandy, Damian, Ciclope and the Villanos. And then there was this midspace for guys who they wanted to keep somewhat credible but weren't actually going to make them the star of the division. Psychosis lived there with Lizmark Jr. and Hector Garza and was occasionally joined by a flavor of the month guy. Like Blitzkrieg in this case. The problem was that the fans could see the segregation lines and weren't going to get invested in anyone on the wrong side of them.

Earlier on the cruiserweight division wasn't that bad when they were running it by Malenko, Eddie, Ultimo Dragon, and Jericho. It had gotten worse by the time Rey and Kidman took over. Because by then, nobody barely wasn't getting the belt or holding on to the title that long but Rey and Kidman. Because you can't have two baby faces hogging up the title especially a division and have the heels holding it for only less than a week.

Hey, if ur watchin' Dynamite again tonight, I'd suggest watching the control center video they put up on youtube last night. It's only 12 mins or so, and the last few u can skip. It's just announcing future locations for shows. They put out Control Center videos the night before each show to preview the card, show things that have led up to whats going to happen, and give the wrestlers a chance to cut promos about their matches. Last night had MJF and Adam Cole cut a great promo, Sammie and Daniel Garcia actually cut a pretty good 1 for them, too. Plus, there is a bunch of stuff there about the fued between the Elite and The BCC that leads to blood and guts tonight. I watch em ea h week there usually really good, and would definetly benifit someone who is just starting watching the show.

Because he was a cruiserweight and couldn't talk and zero charism like Mysterio, juventude

@@petesmart1983 he was never given a chance to talk lol. Also it wasn't even clear if he was face or heel, plus he kept losing. People lost interest.

Way too tough on my boy Blitz here. He was awesome and that Spring Stampede match with Juvi was a barn burner. And that's Juvi, not "Huvay" lol.
