Welcome back to another review!
This time I am looking at a Projector...which I have not used one since 2006!
I never thought I would be looking at a projector on this channel but here we are.
Banggood got in contact with me and asked me to have a look at one and I said yes and I thought it may have been a very boring review - but I actually liked this product the more and more I was using it and reviewing it.
I have a LOT of uses for this now. I can easily set this up and play some retro games or have a movie going, for the price - it's worth it. I had some issues with connecting iOS via Wireless but it was an easy fix.
Hopefully this review helps those who may be interested in this, I recommend it for sure.
But if my video is a bit too long, there are other people who have reviewed this that would probably get straight to the point so feel free to watch a few before purchasing one - if you are in the market for one.

Also, because this will also skew the dimensions of the projected image, that is what the "keystone" adjustment is for....to make the projected image look straight, even though it's at an angle.
@jeremybaker863

The screw is to adjust the angle of the projector when using it on a flat surface and/or to attach it to some different types of tripod mounts.

Some tripods mount differently than the usual way. (Some aren't threaded to accept a mount, instead relying on various types of hinges)

The setup inside there will be a cob led that shines through a fresnel lens through a small 3-4" lcd panel through a mirror (that pivots for keystone adjustment) and finally through the lenses onto the wall. Really simple setup, there's a surprising amount of free space in these. There will also be 2 fans - 1 blows onto the LCD panel (the light energy absorbed would cause the screen to heat and eventually burn the polariser causing large black spots) and another through the led heatsink. Something to consider is the air intake will most likely be unfiltered and you'll start seeing dust specks on the image and eventually "dead pixels" caused by larger bits of dust covering pixels. There is a door on the bottom of the projector that allows you to spray compressed air or maybe get a microfiber cloth in to clean the LCD.

There's a whole range of sub-$100US projectors on Amazon. Walmart has had them as well. I've used one from a different brand at home for two years. The projector is mounted on a bedroom wall and the screen is all the way across the room, where I got a cloth projector screen to cover the whole wall. The audio feeds into a long cable that runs to amplified speakers under the screen. Long story short, it works great in a dark room. Regularly use it for watching F1 and it handles sports action just fine. The main problems are my cats trying to jump on the screen when they see things moving around. They have wrecked it, honestly. I need a new screen. But anyway, the projector works just fine and basically I have a 200-inch image for just about a hundred USD. One hell of a bargain. It would take orders of magnitude more money to get something bigger and better so I'm quite happy with it.

Projectors have evolved a lot too. 10 years ago the best projectors you could get used a xenon bulb that lasted 3000 hours and used a DLP chip which would produce a resolution of 1024x768, these projectors would cost $800. Nowadays you can get a 1080p native resolution with LED lamp that lasts 20000hrs + for $200

The screw is to raise the front to match the display area if you are using from a lower angle. Then I think you can use the keystone correction to fix projection shape.
@Sir_Uncle_Ned

LCD projectors are actually fairly simple compared to DLP. Take a standard LCD monitor, rotate the liquid crystal layer along the vertical axis by 180 degrees, replace the backlight with a projector bulb, whack a lens assembly on the front. Projectors like this use an lcd about the size of a postage stamp
@tw11tube
@tw11tube 3 года назад
FYI: The "throw ratio" seems to be the ration between the image size and the projection distance. For example, the minimum projection distance is specified as 1m (around 40 inches), and 1.33 times 40 inches is 52 inches, which approximately matches the minimum "screen size" of 50 inches.

The Cable has a Philips-Plug, it's named after the company that invented it so you can plug mains directly into their electric razors. Other plugs where too clunky to fit into a small device.
@WareWolf801

That screw thing attaches to the bottom, and lets you angle the thing upwards, or attach it to a camera mount. The keystone settings let you square the screen up, when you're not projecting in a perfectly straight line. Looks like a decent product for under $100 USD. Thanks for the review.

I'm really curious about the "3D", is it actually passive 3D like at the theater? Because I have searched and found projectors that say 3D, but they just mean you can play one of those really old type that have the 2 different colors (anaglyph), but in no way can be used as a modern passive (the ones with glasses that just look like ordinary sun glasses) 3D like you would get in a modern 3D television. If you can let me know, I would super appreciate it. You pretty much have me sold on this, but the 3D thing is something I need an answer on before "pulling the trigger" so to speak. Glad I found your channel. Thanx for whatever info you can manage.

The rubber-bushing-on-a-screw item, as others mentioned, is essentially a "foot" to angle the projector higher than its resting surface. It hearkens back to the days of slide projectors, and perhaps earlier than that. A brilliant use of a few random easily-obtainable hardware pieces that gives you a fully-functioning stand with decent fine adjustment (unless the manufacturer used coarse threads). No teardown? LOL Still it looks pretty decent at that price point. If only I had a use for it.

Just a side note... that "screw" you kept fumbling with... it's meant to be used as a foot to raise the front of the projector up if you are using it on a desk (angle the projector upwards, and adjust the "tilt" adjustment on the lens)

Nice review but where is the teardown? I was hoping you would take it apart :( The screw thing on the bottom is to adjust the angle of it on the table to raise the image on the wall, then use keystone adjustment to fix the angle of the image to make it square again. That way you can have the projector down load or up high but still have a good image placement.

To the people considering buying this - look for used DLP projectors from office environments instead. They're brighter, will have far better colors, and also have a hugely improved contrast ratio. Even though 720p is surprisingly good for one of these cheap ones it's still fundamentally a phone lcd with a led behind it. The difference between this and even a lower resolution office projector will be night and day.
@joeynebulous816
@joeynebulous816 3 года назад
Majority of used office projectors use 1024x768 resolution though and use high hours xenon bulbs which most likely will cost more than this projector to replace
@COASTER1921
@COASTER1921 3 года назад
@@joeynebulous816 Bulbs last 2000hr minimum, but often FAR longer at a reduced brightness/eco mode as you would want for a home theater. Wxga 1280*800 projectors are in the same price range as this. I've used my Optoma W311 daily for 5 years now entirely in eco mode without issue. 8000+ hr on the bulb. I purchased a replacement for $24.99 2 years ago but haven't needed it. Proprietary bulbs are expensive for new projectors, but once a model is popular enough cheap knockoffs are available everywhere you shop online.

yeah those new small projectors are cool, there are even smaller ones that work also nice.... BUT.... even if they use more modern LCD they lifetime is tad poor, not sure if its because they are mobile and people move them all the time, but light source inside for LCD is short, mounting of lense is for most of time poor, and often lense is plastic so after few months is end scratched even if you cover it... speaker often is dead after year and very often cheaper models doesnt have any protection or fuse inside so they are end dead if power module get some voltage spike or get just some component damaged inside due to poor quality. So overall its all nice, but people should take more care of them even if they are ""mobile""

Minor correction to your pricing and is a common mistake a lot of other "dollar" countries make. While your conversion is correct. USUALLY 9/10 times that $103 AU is also $103 US. Wonder if that's how Banggood makes up for lost revenue. Edit: Just checked US pricing, it's $95 US. So... wasn't too far off. Though that's something I as an American have noticed with these Asian sites. Not big in conversion. This case it was 8 less, numerically.

04:59 compares 1200 lum vs 2800 lum. inn an image.. weird thing is the 1200 lum is brighter.. but washed out .. no good black. more lumes foes not give more black. black you get from shutting out external lights so the room is dark. not by more or less lumen from the projector
@TheRailroad99
@TheRailroad99 2 года назад
it sort of does. More lumen => better contrast, if the LCD itself has a good contrast. however of course minimal external lighting is still important, as the power to get good contrast at ~daylight is immense (so big that consumer projectors won't be powerful enough).

I don't understand how people with such bad devices can get involved. You are better off buying a second hand device like an Epson for that price that give real 2000 lumens and more. This Blitzwolf barely looks like 500 lumens. I used to get caught on those specs too until I learned about the real stuff. Through experience one learns and does not get caught by plastic crap. I understand Smoorez, he is still young and needs to gain experience ;-) 🙂

How are you funded? There is some considerable cost to the kind of content you make, you don't appear to have Patreon & you don't have sponsors, ad revenue wouldn't be much, you have to have like 250k subs to start making a little money on RU-vid's monetisation, & then it's getting harder & harder not to get demonetised. If you had Patreon I would chip in, I actually tried to find you on there.
