Honestly, the notion of PL being the best league only came up recently when PL started becoming a lot more top heavy thanks to extreme investments by foreigners. I don't know why English people would brag about their league when they've only produced 3 CL winning teams in the past 14 years while their teams constantly fail. In fact, the logo of English dominance, Man City, has only just recently broken a curse that had them either lose to teams that were unbeatable or teams they had no business losing to. For example, Man City losing to young Mbappe Monaco is just disappointing considering their defense at the time was touted as one of the best Europe just for their asses to be torn a new one with 6 goals by Mbappe and Falcao. If we even use other CL teams, Chelsea has been spotty at best, going in between either gritty CL wins that are arguably flukes or being eliminated early in knockouts. The only consistent team that has had success in Europe is Liverpool and their excellence only really lasted 3 years (2018-21). To summarize, Man City has only 1 CL in spite of an excellent team, Chelsea is only really an overperformer and Liverpool's success was extremely shortlived. Every other English club was irrelevant (talking to you Leicester City, Man Utd and Arsenal).
@@Jees226 You know that you're capping. First of all, their backline and defensive midfield was amazing. LB Kolarov, CB Kompany, CB Otamendi and RB Zabaleta, with CDM Yaya Toure and Fernandinho in the middle. Are you high or something? This a banter defense? Clearly not alive since 2016. Second of all, their attack was amazing and yet they still didn't outscore Monaco. Monaco was practically a one man show with Mbappe and Falcao on the side while Man City had amazing midfielders and attackers with David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Kevin de Bruyne, etc. Third, if we just keep it to that game, in the first leg, Man City should've gotten a penalty on Aguero getting tackled by Subasic in 34'. Also, in that first leg, they choked 5 chances, 3 of them by Aguero shooting instead of making the extra pass. You also heavily discredited Monaco's attack. Monaco had amazing players like Lemar, Fabinho, Falcao, Mbappe, Mendy and the guy Man City would later buy, Bernardo Silva. In the second leg, two of the goals were basically impossible to defend. I don't care what defense you got. In the second Monaco goal, Caballero's goalkeeping was dogshit. So overall, with missed chances by the attack combined with terrible refs fucked Man City. Come on. Rewatch it.
Since 2018 EVERY UCL final has featured an English club (aside from 2020) and since then we’ve had 3 different English clubs be champions and another be a runner up. We’ve also had 2 all English finals with 4 different clubs. If this isn’t recent dominance then idk what is
@@geox8485 Funny how you cut off so many years there. And even if you do keep it to 2018, only 3 English clubs has won the CL (two basically guaranteed). Let's see the context of these CLs. After 2018, the hierarchy of Europe changed. Barcelona has ran out of gas, Bayern is in the midst of the turnover between releasing vets and young stars, Ronaldo just left Real to go Juve and Atleti is practically old as dust. Literally no team except runners-up Liverpool had the form to compete. And yet, the two finalists, Tottenham and Liverpool, didn't even top their group. Starting with Tottenham, they had what is most likely one of the weakest runs to the final and even then, they almost lost twice. Against Man City, they literally only won by away goals in spite Son Heung-min's 3 goals in the tie. Against Ajax, that last minute winner by Lucas Moura is the only reason they were in the final. Liverpool's run, on the other hand, was way more substantial, ousting Bayern and Barcelona. Overall, it wasn't surprising Liverpool won CL since Tottenham's run was basically made out of pixie dust and luck. In 2020, the 4 teams to represent England was Tottenham, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Tottenham would lose in R016 to garbage ass Leipzig, Chelsea was way too early schedule and got their ass handed to them by eventual champions Bayern and Liverpool lost in a gritty match against Atleti. But perhaps, the most embarrassing loss for England was Man City losing to trash ass Lyon where their best players were Memphis Depay and Lucas Paqueta. IS THIS YOUR DOMINANCE? I can't see it. For 2021, the two teams on the rise was Man City and Chelsea. Chelsea played a slog of difficult games against Real, Atleti en route to the final while Man City's best opponent was best chokers of all time, PShitG. Because Man City was practically not tested and has been getting their asses handed to them all year, of course they lost. In 2022, all the English clubs lost to CL mainstay Real Madrid, all in either hardfought or embarrassing ways. For Chelsea, they ran out of gas. For City, they conceded 3 goals in 10 minutes. Please explain that. For Liverpool, the "best" defense left Vini Jr wide ass open. The real dominance of England has only started in 2023, where Man City played basically the toughest opponents en route to the CL Final. Recap: 2019 Tottenham - FLUKE 2019 Liverpool - weak opponents 2019 Man City - choke artists 2019 Man Utd - FLUKE 2020 Tottenham, City and Chelsea - ASS 2020 Liverpool - lost to good opponent 2021 Chelsea - deserved winner but not dominant in any way, shape or form 2021 City - cakewalk schedule 2021 Liverpool - Real owns you 2022 Man Utd - ASS 2022 Chelsea - you tried 2022 City - another tier of chokes 2022 Liverpool - Real owns you again and also another cakewalk CL run 2023 City - actually dominant 2023 Liverpool - Real owns you again 2023 Chelsea - held together by belief but got humbled real quick 2023 Tottenham - extremely mid So besides City's 23 run, what dominance you talking bout? Just cuz England can have 4 CL representatives doesn't make them dominant in the Champions League.
To be honest, the reason why it's the most popular is the are more people knows about Manchester United and Arsenal back in early 2000, they're pretty big here in Asia. Man United's Asian tour is the reason how I became a fan of the team and modern football was invented in England much like how basketball was invented in the US which is why NBA is the most popular basketball league.
The beauty about the Premier league, is that its unpredictable. Who the hell would've predicted Leicester to won the league in 2016, or goddamn Aston villa 3 points behind Liverpool in the title and wouldve been top if they didn't lose to Man U after being 2-0 up at halftime, aswell as someone drawing to Sheffield United.
I agree. La liga, bundesliga, serie a and even league un are funner to watch then the premier league, because there is a level of unpredictability in every game! Take Frankfurt vs Bayern for example, everyone thought Bayern would win but they lost 5-1, you just can't hope for the underdog in premier league anymore.
Fulham just beat Arsenal, Man City just drew 3 in a row, West Ham the ultra defense team just cost Arsenal and Man UTD consecutively. How many games did Barcelona lose last season??
@@SSGH0_ How many goals do you think Liverpool could put past that Girona defense, Aston Villa probably beat Girona 6-0 easy, they probably wouldn't beat West Ham in a Europa League Final like you think Girona would even be Top 8 in the Prem??
@rainy1118 The key word is Girona. What other team that isn't highly known in La Liga as a giant is dominating. Meanwhile, the Prem has Luton, Villa, Fulham, and West Ham, and even more.
@@SemmeralddynamicsBaammy Girona is basically Man City 2012 Beta...in the next 2 years they'll be competing for the Title cause they're backed by a Sheikh.
Manchester City broke financial fair play and nearly lost to Inter Milan in last year’s UCL finals. That right there tells you how over hyped the Premier League are.
Dude, currently is what we are talkin about: Premier league is the most competitive, influential and biggest league in the world. Current real madrid would finish 5th in pl, current psg would finish 10th in pl. You dont have to compare the history, for example la liga to prem
Currently. Real madrid would top the league. Psg will finish in top 4. Also it mighty be influential but competitive? It was never competitive it was farmed by united in the 2000s and is currently farmed by city.
@@NxeonStr1ke If you srsly believe real Madrid wouldn't top the premiere league right now, you know nothing and haven't watched football. Simple as that
In the past three seasons, more Portuguese teams have made it to the quarter finals of the UCL than Ligue 1 teams. Does that make the liga nos better than ligue 1? Anyone can cherry pick stats to mislead people
Premier league is by far the most overrated one in the world. How can you guys say it is „the best“ in the world? Its a fact that not a single english team is in the semi final of the cl. So reality and your standards contradict themself logically. On a personal note. Even arsenal who are playing league the top dog in the prem arent that good compared to the top european teams. Bayern is playing there worst football in decades and are struggling with major injuries and still arsenal looked like a mid table team in germany. I was very excited to see arsenal and especially gabriel and saliba, thinking they are world class/ top tear cb in europe. But they are definitly not. They are good but but in the prem they look way better than they actually are.
As an english fan, I do admit that a lot of us probably don't watch football from other countries. It is true that our teams haven't had great success in the past in the Champions League, but we are definitely not overrated. Currently, there are at least 4 teams competing for the title: Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal and Aston Villa. You can say they are not, but in reality, they are. Even Spurs are closing in on top 4 so it is MILES ahead of any other league and NOT overrated in any sense. Yes, you can say Man City have dominated recently, but its not like other teams have not come close, when they have.
England are dominant in champions League because they have 15 UCL trophies all together which is second highest country with most champions League trophies
They're close though, Man City won in 2023, Liverpool got to the final in 2022, 2 english teams played in a UCL final won by Chelsea in 2021, Liverpool won in 2019, Livepool got to the final in 2018.
PL do has it's advantages likr big players, a lot of competitive and by far the best production quality for media audience But the fan culture is much much better in La liga, Serie A and obviously the Bundesliga. So, currently it's best in a lot of aspects but not the best in all aspects
I'm English, but I think the reason everyone sees the Premier League as a farmers league and overrated is because you KNOW who will win the league, same with Ligue 1, Bundesliga and LaLiga. All are fun to watch, such as Bayern losing 5-1 to Frankfurt and Barcelona losing 4-2 to Girona.
Well let’s compare the Prem with the other leagues as of now in the season. The point difference between 1rst and 4th as of now is 5 points whereas in La Liga it’s 10 points, in Serie A it’s 15 points and in the Bundesliga it’s 9 points. This shows that the quality of teams in the premier league overall are much closer to each other in comparison to the other leagues where there’s usually just a single dominant force. We can already see from this season in the Prem some pretty big upsets done to the big 6 already and it’ll only continue on as the season drags out. That’s why the Prem is hyped up so much as it has many teams that have the chance of winning the title compared to the other big 4 leagues that usually only has 2.
@@thefresky Am not a prem fan I don’t watch it as much sometimes when it’s big clubs like a Manchester derby or two big clubs going at it and I said this because bro has had some outrageous takes and this was poking fun at him
I agree with what you said except for a couple things like why not final semi finals kind of weird like because there isn't even a third place playoff. so if you want to do something like that what about finals and the English league was always a top three League and never fell behind the French League the reason why the Premier League was created was to rival La Liga and serie A.
GENIUINLY this guy thinks he knows everything. I hate these people on RU-vid who act as if they know things, when in reality he probably only started watching football like 2 years ago
you cooked up an explanation mid table premier league sides are not better than bayern munich, real madrid, most teams in italy france and some teams in the eredivise
Mbappe to Liverpool we will be the greatest league ever . we also get the world class guys besides if you're to ask every pundit in the world they would tell you we are the best
The best league can be determined by many factors *Individual* for example if they have 2-3 good teams *Competition* where they have 6+ great teams So Premier League WAS more competitive before Arab money came in Europe But now la liga solo prem
What a ridiculous take am guessing you just desperate for some views cause there is a reason why the coefficients will reward England with the extra UCL spot and last i checked only Real Madrid and Barcelona have won the UCL compare it to the Prem you have Chelsea, Nottingham, Aston Villa, Man UTD, Liverpool, now Man City and Arsenal might probably win it this year... Without Real Madrid how many UCL'S does La Liga have?? And let's be real, people globally would rather watch Brighton vs Aston Villa than Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid wanna know why, the Prem is just more entertaining, more progressive teams have quality players i mean put Brighton in La Liga last year and they might just win it, Aston Villa this year and Real Madrid/Barcelona are not catching them.
