I have a 2018 ford f 150 xlt supercrew 2.7 ecoboost 4wd with the tow package and a 3.55 rear axle . My ccc is 1238 lbs. We tow a rockwood minilite 2509s with a reese load leveling hitch setup.We took it to the east coast of Canada and back and averaged about 10 mpg towing 6000lbs loaded. Solo driving at 60mph average is 23 mpg . We couldn't be happier with this truck it has done everything we have asked it to do and without fail .

Waiting on a 23 f150 that we specifically ordered with a 5.0 with the 3.73 gears. For these same reasons would have went stx or xlt but the wife wanted leather. Did add tow mirrors though. Everything on the lot had 3.31 gears and a huge premium for being available. This made ordering very attractive as well as picking the imperative options of gearing, larger fuel tank and engine as well as tow mirrors since you specifically have to order those separately from any towing package which is silly give all the pro trailer garble they force upon you.

It’s a nice truck but I’m a little old school as well. I really don’t have a need for turbo boost so I like a larger engine. Personally I like the redesign a lot and hated the look of the previous super duty. Really it depends who I can get the best deal from and if the seats are comfortable enough to sit in for 6 hours while towing. We have large dogs and 2 kids so leather is a must to keep it easier to clean which sucks we get locked into the lariat trim.

I'm confused how I have more payload than this lower trim - it's the same generation truck.. Does the 2.7 weigh more than the 5.0? Or does the 2.7 detract from the GVWR? That 2.7 is apparently their best engine - allegedly the Power Stroke team designed it.
@Ryan-ub8vb

In my opinion the 3:55 axle ratio is not a good fit for towing. What you need in a Ford is a 3:73 or 4:11. The 3:55 will tow it for a while but in the end you will strip the rear end out of the truck leaving you a $3k dollar repair bill. Also, I don't care for the ECO engines from Ford either. They simply will not hold up under the stress that towing will put on them. You simply can't beat the V8 or larger engines in any truck you can buy when it comes to towing.
