Thank you for letting us know. Yes I have heard recently fish is very important to help with the Memory and also you may know this but I didn't always know so I learned some years ago that it must be wild caught so I imagine your friend was eating that kind.

My mom ate salmon all the time more than anyone I know it was her favorite food like 3 times a week .she now is suffering with alztimers so I don't know about all that just saying ❤❤❤❤❤

Also walnuts, flax seeds and chia seeds. For those disputing his facts, he did say 30% reduction in dementia cases; it is not 100%, unfortunately. Also the problem can start early in life and only show up later, so if a person's diet becomes more 'healthy' only later in life, it's benefits may be lower. It is very sad that it does happen at all though.

Thanks Dr. Mandell for this great video! my husband & I [72 yrs. & 76 yrs. ] had both been vegetarians for over 12 years, until about a month or 2 ago when dementia came into our realm of consciousness, so we added salmon into our diet twice a week, along with tablespoons of coconut oil each night. We feel so much better for doing this! Thanks again, and have a great day!

Try Lions Mane mushroom supplement. It has been a game changer for my 88yo Mom. She's a different person when taking it, if she forgets for a few days I can notice immediately. I got her a weekly pill container so she won't miss a day

Alzheimer's & dementia is also caused by aluminum in our brains, which causes the white brain matter. Baking soda detoxes aluminum. Take an Epsom salt soak with a cup of baking soda for 20 minutes, at least once a week. 🙏

I don’t eat fish but you can get Omega 3 from Algae (that’s where the fish get it from too apparently) so vegans can also benefit from Omega 3. You can get it from good health food stores or Amazon. The brand I use is Nature’s Well. I’m in the UK 😊

Thank you Dr for the information! I turned 49 and have been noticing my memory is getting bad day by day.I eat Omega supplement told by my family Dr for my leg cramps. I guess it was inflammation of blood flow in my right leg in calf area. Had it for more than 7 years. My dr couldn’t figure out though.Found out on you tube. Didn’t know it helps for brain as well. Hi Chloe, Familial Altzeimers is prevalent in my genetics too. Im 60 yrs old and so far so good that i know of. My Mum was diagnosed in her early 60s with it along with her sister. My Grandfather also. Have you been tested for the gene? My sister has and she doesnt have it. I will be testing soon. I hope ive dodged it but I do worry about my children. I Pray that the GOOD LORD will keep all foods safe for you and me to eat, and especially the more vulnerable people in this world as until he calls us home we need healthy food to sustain us daily. I am 74 and do not take any meds!! Can run around the house and down the street! At age 27 my Gramma said Pay Attention to that Prevention Magazine! I rarely get sick cuz of the choices I make, in diet and sleep pattern!! Plus immune support system supplements! Yes, I can spend a lot of $ but it is worth it! No time to be sick! Salmon, Mackerel, Sardines. I purchase canned non gmo sardines packed in olive oil. Salmon, preferably from Alaska (I hope) canned or fresh, and need to try Mackerel, which I ate as a child delicious in fried cakes with green peppers. My Mom is a fantastic cook.

Seaweed and flax also are omega 3 rich, for those of us that don’t eat fish which are mercury rich and nano plastic rich.

I much appreciate your advice, Dr. Mandell, and the clear, concise way you help us. There are so many little things I do now based on your advice 😊 My concern here, though, is that there may be a few drawbacks to eating ocean fish on a regular basis. Thanks to the huge amount of plastics and contaminants in the oceans due to human activity, some nutritionists are advising against more than a few servings of fish per month. I am a vegan who, to get Omega 3, has for a long time now substituted flaxseed oil for fish oil, and I take vitamin D supplements daily. Whether this is as effective as fish sources, I can't be sure, but I thought I should mention this. Thanks for all you do!

I’ve been increasing the good fat for my brain with avocado 🥑 oil, avocado with my eggs and more olive 🫒 oil. I’ll add salmon. I’d like to try some of the suggestions for meals as well.

I was having an allergic reaction to salmon. I was informed by person at the fish market to always ask if wild or farmed. Only buy wild fish which would either stop or knock out reaction to fish. No reaction with getting wild fish at all 🎉🎉yeah🎉🎉

My mother lived to 90 and had dementia.. Never drank any soda in her life. Never had anything with Aspartame in it. The only thing she drank which was bad, because of the metals, was tap water, and wine. Those were her only 2 drinks most of her life.

​@@azumpiredid she use makeup, personal care products/deodorant & vaccines, they are loaded with toxins & heavy metals, especially aluminum in deodorants I read a study from NIH that most Alzheimer's patients have aluminum in their bodies 😢

I agree…..I am very forgetful when I have anything with aspartame or sucralose in it. I try to be very careful at checking labels. Unbelievable how they put it in so many different foods and over the counter medications. Nasty stuff!!

Dr. Johanna Budwig nominated for the Nobel Prize in medicine 5 times, a bio-chemist, source of research knowledge about fats taught that plant based sources of omega-3 NEED a sulfur protein source to convert the Omega 3 in the body, that is unnecessary for fish sources of it. She used dairy based foods as that protein source in curing cancers in people!. As she was German she used "quark" successfully mixed with fresh ground flax seed eaten within 15 minutes of being ground.. (Quark is similar to plain yogurt) even cottage cheese will work. So will cow's milk. Separately I know that taurine is a sulfur protein. Dr Budwig taught "sulfur protein. Half a century ago she knew how to do that. Look at the history of the Helsinki Clinic. Read her own published words about that.

He never mentioned the high levels of mercury in fish . It is toxic to the brain! Does the DHA & EFA counteract the mercury?

Thank you for sharing this information. I took care of both my parents who had 2 different types of dementia, I am keeping on top of my own health and need to include these fatty fish in my diet so i dont develop it. It is hereditary in my family on both sides. My thing is, I i am allergic to a lot of the "good" foods. I'm trying to work around it and get the nutrients I need with alternative foods. Thank you for the reminders Doctor!! This is great 👌👍

@@loumason6120 Yes canned sardines in olive oil from Costco. The Wild Pacific sardines are best. The company name is Wild Planet. The other sardines from Europe or Morocco didn’t taste nearly as good. Norway Mackeral is awesome as sushi 🍣 my favorite but only found it in Japan.

👋🏻 Look on you tube abt the COCONUT OIL PROTOCOL for DEMENTIA which involves a few tablespoons full of it throughout the day for sufferers . In one video female doctor explains and shows how she drastically reduced her husbands bad dementia within a few months by feeding him coconut oil in his food ( I think its brain food also for Alzhiemers ) it has to be cold pressed Organic and its very cheap ( it can be used in baking instead of oil or butter ) . I don’t think you are supposed to fry with it because of the high temp needed . I buy it in a jar and slightly warm some to mix in milk which is ok or scrape some out to spread on toast with a topping . I eat eggs regularly because the special fats in the yolk help a lot to keep your eyes healthy ( the evil Drug COMPANIES suppress the info because there is NO PROFIT in keeping people healthy and it’s so cheap ! ) Love from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿💕

Dear Dr. Mandell, I am a vegan (for numerous reasons) for 11 years now and I started taking algae oil 2 years ago. It has massive amounts of DHA & EPA. No need to kill fish, plus our oceans are overfished and heavily polluted. Seaweed and algae also supply EPA and DHA. Because fish aren’t able to produce EPA and DHA, they get it by eating microalgae. Thus, algae are the sources of the omega-3 fats in fish. Cut out the “middle fish” and get your Omega3s directly from the source 😊

I used to take a particular brand of vegan Omega capsules and they were great, my memory was nosy better, other people even commented on it. I want to take them again when I can fit it in my budget, especially since I've gone going through perimenopause.
