Our high school team lost to them dudes in the state quarter finals by a landslide. I remember it being freezing cold(rare in Louisiana) and Joe came to our house and stomped us out like a finished cigarette. Rest in peace, thanks for the memories
I graduated the year after Joe and had the honor of playing with him and knowing him. He was a great dude who knew what he was worth and never acted like he was too good for anyone. Rest In Peace Joe
Watched him play many a game at SC and it did take him a while to come on, but he did flash some brilliance. I remember hearing about him being shot, but truly didn't know all the circumstances until now. Another great video.
I had the pleasure of watching Lavarr Arrington play in HS. He did it all, I think he still holds the WPIAL rushing record....played LB, punted and returned punts and kickoffs. He was like Henry, a man among children. Of course he lived and went on to the #2 pick overall in 2000
Leonard Fournette, from New Orleans, running back, #1 player in the country while in highschool. In Louisiana we have great talent, great food, and great verbal swag. If we could just stop the violence down here.
Physics major here. 27K is NOT 60K today. It's about 40K today. PLEASE stop skipping math classes. Anybody arguing this nonsensical factoid is proof "anyone that thinks inflation is not out of hand is a fool" is, in fact, a fool. DOUBLE CHECK your sources. College freshman stuff 101.
He barely even touched the ball in high school. He use to have like 5 touches with 4 tds. He literally scored every time he touched the ball in high school.
Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Wow, that is sad. Don’t act tough because you have a gun and also, don’t act tough because someone else might have a gun. There were a lot of chances for both parties to deescalate this mess and now two lives are over for all intents and purposes.
Why are kids scared to fight with their hands anymore. Almost every Friday after the football games there was fight, we would make a huge circle and the fight was on. It seems like kids now a days live in a video game and couldn't throw the hands for nothing. I told my 14 yr old son to not even get into a fight with someone cause they probably have some kind of weapon cause they scared to get there ass beat
@@ryry562000 Joe McKnight was the younger guy in this situation and wanted to fight. The 60 year old man had the gun and murdered Joe. What's your sage advice for soft older guys who get tough only when they have their gun? Don't put it on just the young guys...old guys are just as sissified.
@@2Phaktz I guess I should of said why are people scared to throw the hands now a days. When I was younger u never worried about someone pulling a gun on you. The kids are getting younger and younger to. We also didn't have the social media to see every little thing that went on in the world either
@@ryry562000 that’s nothing new. I don’t have an answer beyond the fact that they don’t want to be embarrassed for losing, but this has been the case since the late 80’s/early 90’s.
@@ryry562000 man you said what you said most older guys have the strap because they know majority of these young cats ain't trying to put their hands and really what do you expect a senior citizen is going to with Joe m night young in shape ass didn't have to kill him though that's a sucker move no matter what but a gun is usually young cats first option so my man can get the foh with that theory
His freshmen year at USC was great. Back then freshmen and sophomores didn’t play like they do today. It’s amazing he saw the field, much less had 500 yards. It wasn’t for a few more seasons that it was common to see underclassmen playing regularly, unless they were like Adrian Peterson.
I remember watching his high school film and just gawking at how smooth he was with the ball in his hands. And that extra gear he could seem to find when he needed to make the corner or just get past that last defender without allowing contact were some guys would look to run over that defender. Hate to see how it ended but this is another story with no winners.
I was second best back in the state behind this dude in 06 07. he was a senior I was a junior. I always looked up to him and was devastated when he got killed.
When I was 18, some 40 year old guy stopped behind me at a red light, got out of his truck and ran up to my passenger window, which was down, and reached in and smacked a pile of flyers I had in there all over the place. I had no idea he was there until he got to the window and was screaming his head off at me, throwing shit around. One of the craziest things that I've ever been involved in and scared the shit out of me because I didn't see him coming. He claimed...well cursed me out and screamed that I cut him off on the interstate a ways back, changing lanes or something I guess, I really don't know, and I didn't recognize his truck and boat trailer he had because I had never seen it on the road. I mean this dude was so unbelievably freaking mad, it was crazy. Thank god he gave up and left, I'm glad he didn't have a gun, I'm sure he was pissed enough to use it. I just apologized, even though I thought I was 100% certain I hadn't cut anyone off and this guy was mistaken but maybe I didn't see him I guess. Anyway, I can see how this can happen to anybody. Some people REALLY have anger issues and need to figure out how to chill. I think he realized I was a young college kid rather than some guy his age and realized he was overreacting after a bit. But damn, chill bro lol. Why were you so mad that you followed me a couple of miles out of your way to come and start a fight about an accident that didn't happen? shit was nuts. People like that shouldn't have a weapon in their vehicle. Im as guilty as anyone for screaming at some bad driver in my car but I don't ever see myself being angry enough to actually get out and go start a fight. 😬
Imagine...having what it takes to make it to the league....and u lose the desire to put in the work . I can imagine losing the desire to put in the work ! (Because it's as much work as anyone could think....times a million) it's an extremely difficult amount of hard work
@@corylyonsmusic Considering the other choices, 70 an hour OT and 30 hours of it a week worked out just fine. Still though, you missed my point. Big difference between that and being a football millionaire paid enough in one year to retire for life.
@@corylyonsmusic You better believe I’d choose to be a football millionaire if I had the choice. Promise you there’s less work in being a football millionaire than doing it the way I have.
Then the Jets ruined him like they do everyone else they draft or sign outright. Damn! He was an amazing player and an even better young man. Huge loss to everyone who knew him.
Matt, if I had a running back that caries ball 94 times, and he was getting 7.4 yards a carry. He's getting that rock!!!!!! R.I.P Joe!!!!!! I remember him.
I remember the hype around this guy. I was big into football and only 17 around this time. His name always stuck with me even tho I'm from the Midwest. I remember seeing his name drafted and trading for him in Madden. However, as I grew up, I never heard about his death and if I did, I must have forgot it was this guy from when I was young. Sad story
20:00 so when you’re in the right you should flee the scene?.. that made no sense. regardless, running up on someone’s window after a verbal dispute is never smart. especially if you live in a legal carry state.
I’ve watched a lot of you’re videos and this was really well told (always is but this was really good bro) and I wasn’t familiar with the case and appreciate the awareness. RIP Joe man.
The way people act on the road in this country always blows my mind. It's as if they forget that we live in a country that allows you to bare arms. Why the hell would you approach someone sitting in a car that is distressed? Even if the guy didn't have a gun, what was Joe gonna do anyway? Just drive away folks, it's not worth it.
In life, people “peak” at different times of their lives. That can mean their Looks, Wit, Success, Physically, Love Life, etc. This is certainly true in football. Some guys peak in High School, others College, others in the NFL. Some people can succeed through multiple segments of their lives, but generally speaking, this dude peaked in High School. Even still, he had a chance to still live a guest life and this is tragic!
What you even talking about slick hating you don't have any idea what this man could have been or anything about him peaking stop dry hating get a life
Big Trojan fan and we were thrilled to get this guy. USC never used him properly or enough. Rumor was he was not exactly a hard worker in the weight room or at practice. Nonetheless he was a fantastic tailback with 4.3 speed, a terrific burst and great cutting ability plus he could catch the ball out of the backfield and make things happen. In addition he was a super dangerous return man. RIP Joe McKnight.
Yeah, the dude's name was Scott SCHENTER as one can clearly see from the article. I worked with him at the LA County Assessor's office. Dude was clearly guilty and is now facing about 30 years jail time for helping a property tax agent reduce values (and thus taxes) for scores of well-connected people in LA. His names continues to bring shame to our office.
I liked and subscribed solely because the narrator started the video by saying "First off, R.I.P Joe McKnight." Good video brother, hope you keep them coming
I enjoyed the contents with the exception that the methods or means of how he received the Rover, was not confirmed or shown to be illegal, but perhaps unethical and or a broken moral code. Not illegal.
I'm disappointed you didn't play one video of him actually playing football. No clue who that is in the video. very disappointed. I played with Joe from 7th grade through HS. he was the most freakish athlete I've seen. Him and Deon Sanders..
Lol. Fa real bro! I remember when y’all came to Laplace and played us at East St. John. It was a war. I miss this fellow. Me and him was the only ones from Louisiana that made the army all American game. That was my roommate out there
Knowing the history of road rage, law enforcement should really crack down on wreckless driving. They don't crack down enough on people weaving through/in and out of traffic. Not only can it cost a road rage incident that could lead to someone losing their life, like this Joe McKnight situation, but it can also cause bad accidents where innocent people get seriously hurt.
Rest in peace, Joe McKnight. Having said that, that I disagree with your take. Joe McKnight got up out of his car and rolled up on the dude who ended up shooting him. What was that dude supposed to do? He had no idea Joe was going to punch him assault him or maybe even stab him or shoot him. What you supposed to wait find out? By the time he found out, he could have been the one that was killed. Tragic to be sure, but Joe McKnight is half responsible for his own demise. The other guy was convicted of manslaughter, not Murder One. 30 years is very excessive for a credible case of self-defense. Now all of you out there hate on me!
The dude that shot Joe also followed him knowing he had a gun, as someone with a CCW you have to understand that everything you do may involve a gun. When he followed joe it was not self defense, just two engaging bad behavior, unfortunately one is dead and the other got 30 year for manslaughter
@@derekbraggs5607 no one is required to flee an aggressive person. Trayvon case already established that much. McKnight escalated the situation and it cost him his life.
Nathan: It seems DBraggs said the guy FOLLOWED Joe. You do know there's a difference between "following" and "not fleeing", right? If not, learn it. Very different.
@@ytcomments6934 McKnight had no idea if the guy was "following" him or not. Fact is McKnight had Gasser's vehicle blocked in at a red light, exited his vehicle and approached Gassers car door. Any sane person in the world would view this as threatening actions. If you can't understand that, - learn it.
Another good story, but I have to bring up I'm pretty sure that actually video clips are of Miles Sanders. I know that McKnight never played for Woodland Hills in Pittsburgh. Good story anyway.
I didn’t see not 1 HS film of Joe on this video. John Curtis uniforms and colors doesn’t have black in it at all. I’m from Louisiana. Idk what number 4 you’re showing but that’s not Joe
The reason his stats were not what most would think is because we demolished every one we played. The ones barely played. In a typical game the ones would play the first quarter and come back in and open up the second half for a series or two before going back to the bench to let the two’s and three’s finish the game. If our coaching staff wanted to run his numbers up they easily could have. Keep in mind he played on a team where second and third team got just as many if not more snaps per game than the one’s.
@@stefoinfrancois2149 I actually remember that game. Y’all barely beat us after us not having a single practice and was also our first game of the season. We won state that year and didn’t lose another game. Hahnville smacked y’all twice. Y’all were pretty good but let’s be honest we clearly had the better team and loosing the game we did was a fluke. Had it not been our first game with no practice the outcome would have been different. We didn’t even have our full roster back after Katrina.
I made a previous comment that your voice was hard for me to listen to being from a small country TX town. Today I hear much less draw and it is much more appealing. Hope that was constructive criticism and your content is first class man. Thank you for the stories, good luck and stay blessed!
Saw this guy come to Alabama his senior yr in high school almost single handedly beat Hoover high which was the number 1 ranked high school football team in the country at the time.....and as you stated he did it all.....caught a interception.....catch a receiving td.....rushed for a td ...and had a field day on punt and kick off returns

18 yards is insane every if the competition is trash. Gotta look at who they played and sounds like he was in the private school league that's usually nowhere near the competition in public schools.
That car was worth far more than 20k then. Cars were actually more expensive then. I have an old 1996 Oldsmobile 88. The car was 30k new. Hardly any American cars are 30k today.
Joe Mcknight wanted to be Reggie Bush. Reggie Bush in H.S.>Joe Mcknight in H.S. Reggie Bush in College>Joe Mcknight in College. Not saying much Reggie Bush in the NFL> Joe Mcknight NFL.
My highschool played his when I was in middle school 😢 we lost by 6. They were literally blowing out everybody but them Clinton eagles had the number 2 defense in Louisiana at that time.🤦🏾♂️💯🥶
I usually rock with your videos but you talking about his numbers as if he told the coaches he doesn't want more than 100 carries. His numbers are amazing and so was his talent.
The point of him staying I don’t think is an indication of him thinking he did something wrong if anything that shows Maturity because leaving the scene Would be the dumbest thing to do
Grew up playing on All-Star travling teams 97'-98 dudes whole family balls Kenner in that era was different i played a age group higher than him but everyone knew he was it R.I.P Joe McKnight Kenner City Legend
15:05 USC was known for paying athletes back then. I mean Reggie just got his Heisman trophy back cause that house they bought his momma. Lucky for him, rules changed 😂
