What if you are unable to put weight through knees & don’t want to kneel or balance on a knee at all. Is there a modified version that avoids that?

Good question! Does your knee hurt? If so, you can put padding/a soft pillow before doing this stretch. You can also do this standing up and pull your feet behind and steady yourself on the wall. Hope that helps!

So does that side view that you showed us, the one where you pull your foot against your butt, accomplish the same thing? Or does it have to be the wall?

It feels slightly different. Do both! There are also other versions which are even more intense that I will release videos about later...

I'm getting back into stretching thanks for your videos I'm trying to get my mobility back as I play football/soccer I recently had a growth spurt and my hips are extremely tight especially the psoas hopefully I can get great range of motion soon

Hey, I commented on a previous post about shoulder impingement and biceps tendon iris, I have both. I thought it was clearing up but I spoke too soon, still shutting down my workouts and i dont know what to do anymore.. I just saw your link for super shoulders program. Is that your program? And do you think it can help me get this under control? Disclaimer: I am a mail carrier, I’m reaching into mail boxes all day long and reaching behind me for packages. THIS I believe is the main culprit of the injury, not my workouts.any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Joe

Absolutely! Super Shoulders will be a big help. Definitely work on your shoulder extension + internal rotation (to help reaching behind your back without compensating!)

It's an awesome stretch if you don't already have impingement issues, otherwise, this could make things worse.

The hip issue I have had for a while now seems to be hip bursitis when I lift my hip and leg so it's impinged there's a small lump on my right hip this is on visible on my left what can I do to remove this

Don't make it worse by pressing too aggressively on the area. But you can work on soft tissue nearbye. Also, see if there's some way you are moving, running or playing your sport with faulty mechanics. You may need to have a professional evaluate you to know.

I have been struggling with this stretch. I have found it easier to start out with the McKenzie stretch, then advance to McKenzie stretch with my knees at 90 degrees held in place by a couch or the wall.

You can try putting your foot on a couch (less plantarflexion = less intensity). LMK how it goes?

@@GotROM thanks for the reply, it's going well, after a couple of days I have progressed into a hip flexor stretch with my rear shin flat on the ground followed by a rear shin at 45 degrees with my foot on a couch, I can feel my hips starting to open up, as opposed to before where it felt like my body was just trying to resist the position. I have also been doing a bit of tissue work around the adductors and glutes and have this is helping.

I’m a 16 yr old basketball player and I have externally rotated hips. I have 0 hip Internal Rotation and struggle to get into low positions when hooping. Is there a faster way to increase my mobility instantly?

Good question! In the first few days of doing this stretch, probably about 3 to 5 seconds, 2 sets. As you get more flexible you can increase the hold time, depending on how your body feels. Let me know if tnis helps!

Got ROM Yeah, general flexibility. I do a bit of yoga - which has really helped my movement, but I haven’t come across a movement in yoga that really targets the hips the way this stretch does. I have really been concentrating on walking barefoot and really bringing my gluteus into it by barely landing my foot forward and then keeping that same foot behind as long as I can. This really makes the glutes work and stretches the hips. I started stretching for BJJ, but never really got anywhere till I started yoga seriously. Now I realise that yoga should come first before sports for modern man, as their, read my, body isn’t ready for any serious movement.
