Very useful and great advice Doc. As a 70+ year-old with a history of back surgery for Sciatica, have been able to maintain good flexibility and mostly back pain-free for over 10+ years with such stretches every day
Amazing exercise.... that’s why so many farmers who can live longer than others. Almost everyday they are in that position through their physical activity... Amazing background (arts, couch , cushion it match all with the floor) doc!
Bad disc or not, _any_ stretch (especially yoga moves) has the potential of being damaging because there's the danger of overdoing it, especially if it feels good in the beginning. This kind of thing should always come with cautionary warnings.
This is So Helpful - talk about Perfect Timing, I just got back from a walk but felt very tight…going to start doing this Exact stretch - Thanks Dr. Mandell
OMG. I needed that. Thank you, Dr Mandell for sharing. May you be Blessed with long live and Healthy life. Thank you and much Appreciated, from Australia
Advice is 100% correct. I started doing this stretch as well as a few others and squats about two weeks ago and the results have been amazing! Keep 'em coming!!! 👍
One thing I like to do to change this up for some extra benefits (actually a yoga move)... While stretching down with _one_ arm, put the other arm far out behind you so it goes _up_ as you bend further over, and turn your neck and back to keep your eye on the hand of the arm behind you. Alternate sides for each stretch.
Yay, I need this. Post surgical recovery still & this is the exact area I continue to struggle with. Everything you mentioned here and this specific stretch will benefit me daily - thanks! ❤
Am following your exercises, which are a great help. Do you have a group, who pray for those, who are suffering from illnesses of various sorts. Yes definitely EXERCISE AND PRAYERS GO HAND IN HAND. Bless you our dear Dr. Mandell. Keep shining. 💐💐💐
This is one of the basic dance stretches. To do his correctly, you need to tuck your head as you do this stretch, lowering one vertebrae at a time. To return to standing, roll up one vertebrae at a time, your head and neck come up last to head level and eyes level.
I watch all of your videos Dr. I really like how you teach us. we are Muslims and Alhamdolillah we have to practice these stretches' 5 times in namaz on daily basis :)
good morning everyone, when I was young I enjoyed the stretch, I use to could put the palms of my hands flat down on the floor. today I'm over 60 n I do have knee issues. that doesn't stop my from still doing this stretch when I feel tight. I only touch the floor with the tips of my fingers, the back of my legs feel better. 👍🏾💫🙂
I couldn’t do it for yrs. due to a nasty fall. But last year I couldn’t move / walk or bend over at all, til the Angel of God came laid his hands on my back ! NOW I CAN BEND OVER ! Thank you Jesus. Pray Jesus restore the muscles . Stop the pain , the inflammation to go . Thank you Jesus I’m healed . I can do this.
Oh my goodness Dr Mandel I can already put my hand on the floor. Now what got me when you said to lift your buttocks towards the wow did my hamstrings ever get a pull there. That was totally new to me...Thank You for the advice💜💜💜❣️
My physiotherapy says you should slightly bend your knees, keep your back straight and pivot at the pelvis. Rounding your back and locking your knees straight is not ideal.
Thats for people with tight hamstring & limited flexibility.. If someone have good flexibility, the exercise doctor mandell shows its ok, as long as the spine straight/not bending in order for the hand touching the floor..
I was told many years ago if you can't touch your toes to reach up as if you're trying to touch the sky and as you bend over reach outwards a bit more every time as you bend. It really releases the back and it does work.
I did the stretches for a few days and last night when I checked by bank balance someone has paid $1 000 000 into my bank account. You are right. Amazing things happen when you stretch
