I retired 12 years ago because of heart failure and pancreatic problems. I was miserable for about 4 more years. THEN… I had to sell the car because drug side-effects made driving unsafe. An amazing thing happened. No more runs for fast food. Reduced income meant careful grocery shopping and a patio garden. I dropped 20 pounds over the next few years without intent. Now the cardiologist has reduced my meds and I only go in for annual well-checks. I have time. I make whole-grain cookies with dried fruit if I want a treat. I sprout a lot. I stock my pantry with highly nutritious foods and ingredients. Life has become very sweet to me. Do I still have health issues? Sure. I’ve got a lot of mileage on this chassis. But I don’t take a boatload of meds or spend multiple days in hospital. Slow down. Eat properly. Respect your body.

People: You can't make it on one income these days. Me: Raise and homeschool five kids, buy a house on two acres, drive old cars, cut the boys' hair with a $20 pair of clippers, wear second hand clothes, cook dried beans instead of canned and so much more all on one income from a job that did not require a college degree. I may be a bit oppositional.

It's all about priorities. When I quit my job after my second child(I now have 5) my boss told me the same thing, that I couldn't live in my husband's income. Well guess who was buying designer jeans, eating at the fancy restaurants and buying everything new? Her that's who. Me staying home and cooking from scratch, thrifting and all the things. 😁 People can afford more than they think they can. It's all about wants and needs. ❤

It's not just what you put into your body, it's what you put ON it too. All the chemical based products are absorbed by the skin and deeply affect how your organs function. Most people don't even think about it, shampoo, soaps, sanitizers, cleaning powders. All affect your hormones and thyroid function, eyesight, lungs, lymph glands.

This is your best video EVER. What you say is so true. All of us are dying - well actually all of us are being killed by bad food. A year ago I lost my youngest son, a father of a teen, an 8 year old and a 10 year old, to pancreatic cancer. It is the most painful and cruel of them all. He was 45 years old and he and his wife chose to live on fast food, restaurant food and store-bought snacks and sweets. He tried to cook healthier, she didn’t want it. Pancreatic cancer is a lifestyle disease, almost entirely cause by a high fat, high sugar diet or high alcohol consumption. My son was not a drinker. He loved to eat but he ignored my warnings and his obese wife shut me out. He’s dead,and she has now lost 75 pounds because now she wants to get healthy. Too late. Their youngest child is also obese. I can only hope she is getting him into healthier condition, too. Our son was our old age backup, always here for us in whatever we needed. Now we have no one. He was my best friend. My heart is shattered at his loss. He moved in with me 6 months before he died. I fed him home canned healthy food and he loved it. I took care of him (I am an RN), went with him numerous times to get pain relief in the night. DOCTORS don’t have a clue how to use pain relievers effectively. Not even the cancer specialists.Hospitalizations, and finally, hospice. I watched him take his last breath. I took his carotid pulse to prove he had left us. Living with that memory is the worst thing any mother can go through. All for the love of bad food? The WASTE OF HUMAN LIFE IS A CRIME AGAINST NATURE! Stay off the seed oils. CANOL WAS INVENTED AN A MACHINE LUBRICANT AND HAS TO BE SO MODIFIED WITH CHEMICALS IT BECOMES SOMETHING TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Canola is a made-up word - from Canada Oil Co., and it is made from rape seed. Go to avocado, olive or coconut. Nothing else. No, corn oil is BAD. Never buy Red Bull or other “energy drinks”. They are pure sugar. Get back to whole grains. Grind your own. WHOLE MILK, NOT ALT MOLK. You need the essential fatty acids in it. It is coming back to schools for a reason. They are putting ground cricket flour into commercial products. Don’t buy them! Don’t buy cereal! Never buy margarine which is all chemicals. REAL BUTTER is healthy. CORN tortillas, never flour! Type 2 diabetes was unheard of in the Mexican population until they shopped across our border and bought flour tortillas instead of corn! Dehydrate veg and powder it and add it to your food year round! $5 worth of fresh kale,dehydrated lasts a long time in powdered form! Add dehydrated veg to casseroles, smoothies, everything! Especially the leafy greens! We are still eating 99 cent per pound chicken I canned in 2021! Beef stew nearly as cheap! BEWARE - Oregon and Maine have begun shutting down all small farms, and are telling people to stop gardening. In a state where it rains constantly 9 months of the year! GARDEN DEFIANTLY! At RU-vid’s Next Level Gardening and Next Level Homestead, a Californian shows you how! Grow, preserve, eat your way back to good health! Prevent disease. OUR DOCTOR, DURING OUR CHECKUPS, SAYS HE DOESN’T SEE PEOPLE LIKE US IN OUR 80s. He asks us what we do to get PERFECT BLOOD TEST RESULTS. HIPPOCRATES SAID, PARAPHRASING, LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE. MEDICINE IS FOOD.

The last two times I had a dr’s appointment I was asked two questions that were never asked before. The first time was if I had firearms to which I replied “that’s none of your business!” The next time I was asked if I had been in the military and what branch. I did answer that question but wondered afterwards why they were asking. I decided that since those in the medical field have no expertise in firearms and henceforth, I’m not answering any questions unless they are medically related.
@monicaluketich6913
@monicaluketich6913 4 месяца назад
The one about the military may be about that camp (don't know the name) from years ago where they are just now revealing the facts that there were unhealthy chemicals there. I have not been in the military, so I only half listened to the info. As for guns? I have no idea, unless they are looking for people with possible deadly mental problems. But I agree - explain WHY they are asking those questions.

My feet hit the floor at 5:30am to feed my farm animals, say my prayers and give thanks for my strength each day while working the garden daily and planning for more. Feed my late husband’s dogs he loved, then prepare, plan and preserve food for each day. We eat 2 meals a day, that’s enough for us. Tasks, chores, repairs and building seem endless but we keep pushing along with faith of good day. Money is tight but we plan and that is the only way I have learned. Reuse and no waste. Lord when I’m done with it, it’s finished. 😊. From one Lisa to another, you are awesome and so truthful, that is why I enjoy your channel. Stay brave, stay strong and push on. 🥰

Not a lot of any of it, but enough to snack and make a good dinner of home canned potatoes, broiled with garlic butter and then sprinkled with fresh chopped parsley. Who could ask for anything more?! I made major changes to our family diet at that time despite working almost 60 hours a week, going to college full time, and having three children under the age of seven. We ate whole foods , very little sugar, and homemade meals. Still to this day, my hubby and I eat home made meals. I grow what little I can on our small lot, buy from farms, can and freeze, and dehydrate. In fact, due to Florida's sudden overabundance of rain, my tomatoes bloated on their vines and split their skins, so I had to harvest them half ripe today. What to do? Make 19 half pints of canned salsa, of course!

I just saw a post today about the “water” that is sprayed on the fresh vegetables in the supermarkets. It is a chlorine base with 99.5% other ingredients. You can wash your vegetables as often as you want, but the also spray bud nip on like the sweet potatoes that goes right into the potatoe. You cannot wash it,off.! It saddens me so when I think about what we ate as kids. The wheat wasn’t sprayed with stuff until they wanted to make it more productive which in turn makes it higher in carbs as well. Sad, sad. So glad we are all talking about this. Thank you

When wheat or any grain is hauled and dumped at mill by farmer the first thing the Mill workers do after farmer dumps grains is put insecticides on grain to control bugs. My husband farms and he has watched them. I think you will find that with anything imported such as spices, nuts, fruit, veg. Yes seeds are modified and sprayed for higher yields. Right or wrong yields have to increase for population growth and to compensate for farmland being taken out production thus using it for new houses, schools, roads, shopping centers.

I have chickens, right now for eggs but will start hatching the eggs (one person doesn't need a zillion eggs) and have the roosters 'harvested' as my neighbor calls it. I quit eating processed foods 10 years ago this month, and it was the best thing I ever did for my financial and personal health. I eat a starch-based diet with vegetables, fruit, and fatty whole plant foods. Aside from that, I decided for personal reasons to eat a fully plant-based diet. I figure that my family of three saved at least $100,000 over the last 10 years on food alone.

I love this talk! I've switched over to a keto/carnivore way of eating and I've never felt better! I'm a recovering sugar addict 😂 and when I'm not constantly putting all the poison of our modern day convenience food in my body I'm astounded by the results. No back pain, clear skin, energy through the roof, better sleep and I'm down 13 pounds in only two weeks! I refuse to let my children eat any of the garbage convenience food as well. It truly is poison.

Thank you so much for this video. It's one of your very best and so spot on. If people would only pay more attention to what they eat. Stop going to doctors who work for big pharma rather than their patients. We all need to learn to take better care of ourselves for ourselves and our families. So many wonderful responses here from so many intelligent people. 🥰

Absolutely on board with you sister! I've been telling my children they are turning our food into poison and then putting us on drugs to take care of the side effects. We need to grow as much of our own food and get the rest from reliable sources. I try hard to make most of our food from scratch and not buy processed food.

There is a 3rd grader in the room next to me who is afraid to eat because she thinks she will get poisoned. I don't know the whole situation and I have no business knowing. When I mentioned that possibly she may have heard about all the lead and other junk in our foods not one of the teachers had a clue about what I was talking about. Ignorance is bliss I guess. Sad for them and their children. ❤

I move all the time, people tell me they get tired just hearing me say what I did in a day. I garden, I store food, can food, freeze some and dehydrate some. We have a farm, My father was really into being a vegetarian and we have some amazing foods, everyone including my grandmother cooked meals, and everyone had their own way of seasoning their foods which made it really nice. Today we had Quinoa Salad with everything fresh in it, with Balsamic Vinegar and Olive oil. Yummy. Thank you, Peace and love to you.

My main issue is wanting snacks. Well I'm excited because just before watching this video I saw a video on Instagram for homemade Cheetos. Shred cheese and freeze on a tray for an hour. ( It looked like about a cup and a half) Whip egg whites (4) until very stiff and dry. Fold in frozen cheese. Put in a zip bag with the corner cut out. "Pipe" onto a parchment covered baking sheet. Bake at 300* for about 20 minutes until browned and crispy. (If you want them spicy, sprinkle on a spicy seasoning before baking). Thanks for the video. Will do my best to stay out of the snack isle 😊❤

I’d love to like this post 100 times over Liesa!! From getting your body into shape naturally, only having a 1 income family, stop making others rich when it’s taking more $$ out of our pockets to buy junk!!!!! I have changed what comes into to my house food wise, no more chemicals, fillers, or fake sugars. If I could get my husband on board 100% he could be off most of his meds and feeling a lot better. I pack his meals for the week in his truck weekly, but once he hits the road he stops and gets the junk. I’m I wasting my time? Yes but I know he is eating the right stuff from home. I can’t stop him from the junk. But when he is home we eat from pantry, freezer, and the things I make from raw Jersey milk. Love homemade yogurt! All natural! Thank you for the video! Get up and move!

You go, girl, and keep preacing this regularly! The sawdust thing is still going on today, but it is disguised as cellulose powder. And it is in many, many foods now, for various reasons. It's used as an anti-caking agent in some shred cheeses! I am 70, still growing as much food as I can, and can/preserve/dehydrate my food. I have cervical cancer and am 6 years in remission. Keeping my immune system healthy goes a very, very long way to keeping me in remission. Cooking from scratch can be time-consuming at times. I do eat generic cheerios from Aldi's sometimes, but I doctor them with a good dose of very plain granola that I buy at Aldi's and I add chopped pecans, lots of cinnamon, a little pure maple syrup and cane sorghum for sweetener. I add a whole banana and some 2% milk. When I read a label, if I can't understand the ingredients, I don't buy it. I work harder now that I'm retired than I did when I was younger, and I grew up and worked in our commercial greenhouse that raised tomatoes and leaf lettuce for the St Louis produce market!

Bingo! You hit the nail on the head about eating heathy. I did my "get your canning inventory up to par" in January and February, so now I find I can get a good healthy meal on the table in 20 to 30 minutes, less time than it use to take to put a frozen useless meal in the oven. I feel better and have more energy in just 3 months. You are absolutely correct about eating healthier. It is so easy once you have your systems in place.

I also stay very busy, to the point of people telling me to slow down. Hummmm, no thanks! Even cereal prices are outrageous! It’s cheaper to buy a steak to pan fry and a can or two of veggies than it is to buy a box of cereal. Both options can feed 2 people one meal. We do have some packaged food, but a quicker, cheaper, healthier meal is some cooked rice with fresh broccoli chopped up and sautéed in butter and your choice of seasoning. Want meat? Cube up a chicken breast and sauté it before adding the broccoli. Still feeds 2 people for less than a box of cereal. And grandpa used to love a bowl of rice with a little milk and cinnamon sugar for his sweet tooth. It’s good. And has far less chemicals than cereal. Last night we had pan fried steak and fresh picked spinach cooked. Tonight I will be making panko coating some chicken and baking it to have over buttered rice with broccoli from our small raised bed garden.

You’re spot on. My wife and I watched Food Inc. about 10 years ago and it changed our eating habits for the rest of our lives; I own the dvd and watch it once a year or so to remind myself of how bad our food system is. We have two young kids and live rurally, and although I can buy groceries within 15-25 minutes of our house, I drive an hour each way to a store where I can buy all organic foods; my shopping trips are fairly quick because I avoid 95% of the aisles.I hit the two organic aisles, the organic dairy section, and then go across the store for my organic fruit and veg. I preach to our kids regularly why I do this and why we eat the way we do. I make our foods from scratch, I make natural medicines and tinctures, I can foods, and I buy organic meats from local farmers. I’ve recently been fazing out food dyes as well. Our food system is broken in this country, and our kids won’t be a part of it. We have fun foods and splurge once in a while, but we do everything we can to have them eat properly, including baking all of the organic rolls for their lunches, along with buying the expensive organic lunch meats and cheeses. I’d rather spend our money on healthy food instead of medical bills.

Well said. I enjoyed this video because it is true. We need to eat less fake foods, like Foods that are in colourful boxes , but once you pour it out it has no colour it’s all brown or white or fake colours. Eat what is as close to its original form as possible. Yes we are being pushed into a corner, I don’t understand why ( I suppose to make money and to make room ) but I do understand that we need to get up and “ look “at what we are doing and eating. And we need to “look” at who is doing it to us. Once awake we can not be fooled. I’ve been hungry in my life, starving actually, it is not pleasant , I was a child . Let us not allow anyone to experience this if we can help them. Educate and save as many as you can. Bless you Leisa.

I have my everyday pantry, then my shtf pantry. Listening to your video, I had to stop and think. In my shtf pantry, 95% of the foods are healthy. That's where I keep the home-canned stuff and freeze-dried. The other 5% is crap like store bought canned green beans, corn, gravy packets, and some flavored rices that I got on sale for .79 @, so I filled my basket (like a pig). In my everyday pantry, I just realized that almost everything is cans or jars from the store, mostly sauces and tomatoes. Time to rethink the smaller pantry. We're retired, and only do fast food once a month or every 2 months. Something about paying $10 for a hamburger chaps my hide! Besides, homemade just tastes better. :) As always, good video, Leisa!
