Ill save you ten minutes....the answer is Vitamin D w/ K2. The anount varies on age, weight ethnicity and location of living. Vitamin D will help lower free calcium in the body. The calcium is getting hung up in the ear effecting equilibrium....Your Welcome 😉

My husband suffered with debilitating vertigo for 20 years. One morning we were about to have our morning coffee and he said, “I don’t think I’m going to have coffee today because I start feeling bad after I drink it”. He did not experience any vertigo from that day since and it’s been about 1year. He found that any consumption of caffeine, whether it be tea, coffee, soda, would bring on the vertigo. I hope this helps someone, God bless❤

It could also be related to migraines. Vestibular Migraine and BPPV are very common. If you treat the migraine with diet , for instance, no caffeine, chocolate, ( Migraine diet)..and if needed a migraine prevention medication helps too. God bless anyone suffering with vertigo, it is horrible.

For 8 years I was in bed with vertigo that I describe as violent attacks (like a seizure) and or slow dizzy attacks that instantly made me sick for hours. 8 solid years of this to the point of literally praying I would die. Thousands of $$$$ to doctors who did NOTHING, NOTHING!!! They even treated me like a hypochondriac sometimes………this was throughout my entire 40’s, if I find out that a damn vitamin deficiency was causing this??? Someone is going to pay!!

@chiefamylee
@chiefamylee Год назад
@@jefflanham1080 I am so sorry to hear of your experience. I lost time away from work because no doctor was able to diagnose my condition back when it first happened to me. The spin-off was horrendous in my work life, as a result. I believe going to the sea and being knocked around by the waves helped me to alleviate the terror of that feeling because I got relief. Later on, I learnt about vertigo and upon research, I realized that there are simple exercises (which I found on RU-vid) that could help to fix it quite easily, so far, when it occurs.

I suffered from this for 14 years it was so bad I had to go to a balance clinic. I suffered a constant sense of motion even when I wasn't spinny. The maneuver did not work. They told me this was my new normal. The episodes got worse the last 5 years ago. I had new neuro symptoms like constant falling, high stepping gate and no depth perception. Finally went to see a chiropractor. He said my Axis was off, the top vertebrae in your neck. He worked on me for 4 months and I started noticing my episodes had subsided, after a year my feeling of motion disappeared and for the last 4 years I am symptom free. I got more out of my chiropractor in a few years than I did all the specialist in 14 years. What a waste of that time. I am still going from time to time but I feel good and regained my confidence. Don't give up.

Seemingly, out of nowhere, I began having episodes of vertigo. A couple of times, it has kept me confined to my bed for a day or two. I spoke with my doctor about it twice, and he assured me that it happens frequently to people in their mid-50s and later but offered nothing else. I've stopped driving for about 3-4 months now because of fear it will strike and I'll injure another driver. I have even spent a bit of time searching online for causes but wasn't able to find much useful info. This is the first I'm seeing about this epely method/procedure. Is this to be done during an episode of vertigo or can it be done when vertigo is not actively present? I'm asking because I don't want to trigger the vertigo -- by possibly moving a calcium crystal into the position where it may trigger the vertigo.

If you have a serious lack of vitamin D but get sun regularly please, please check your calcium levels. If they are EVER ten or above get off the vitamin D! You may very well have hyperparathyroidism! Vitamin D suppresses PTH hormone while simultaneously opening the flood gates to high calcium. Do NOT expect your doctor to know this and do not rely on "normal" PTH levels to tell you have it. Seek a diagnosis with a parathyroid center who specializes in this. Even endocrinologists fail miserably in detecting it. It could save your life.

I went to several eye doctors that couldn’t figure it out, then went to a specialist who immediately saw the problem and diagnosed me. I was prescribed eyeglasses with special lenses and it changed my life. It’s not 100 percent gone but I can live almost normal. Staring at my phone or scrolling on my phone can make it worse. My ex was an ENT doctor. I learned the Eply manuever at his practice and saw many patients with BPPV. I did the Eply manuever in office. Its simple and basically moves the crystal(s) out of the balance canal (where if thet are in either canal frew floating, your own movement causes crystals to move along the canal, causing dizziness, if the crytals are floating around the canal). It definitely works for BPPV patients but not all vertigo is caused by these crystals. This manuever can definitely help move them out of the canal to relieve symtoms. Dr. Berg is spot on.

I suffer from this medical condition and it is debilitating! Vomiting, dizziness non stop, and I do this maneuver for a few times a week sometimes. My hubby helps me just in case I start vomiting. I also do some other movements with a ball that I bounce while tilting my head in various positions while I bounce. That also has helped me regain normality in my life. Whenever I am reading about, or viewing a video like this, about the condition and treatment for BPPV I am thinking to myself that the presenter or author probably has never experienced BPPV in its worst form. If you have ever had this in the extreme, you would know that you have no control at all of your body and the very idea that you could easily fix this by way of a manoeuvre without assistance from other(s) is simply inconceivable. This is what happened to me the first time I experienced BPPV. I was lying in bed and a wind gust caused the blinds in the window behind the bed head to bash against the window architrave. The noise startled me and I woke and tilted my head back and to one side very quickly (fright / spontaneous reaction) so as to see what was making the noise. Then, my head went into a very fast spin. My eyes were jumping from side to side at a very high rate. I involuntarily through myself out of the bed and ended up on the floor, pinned against the wall as my body tried to fight against the perceived movement in my brain. I started vomiting profusely (until there was nothing left to bring up) and my body dumped an enormous amount of fluid (sweat) such that I was dripping wet and my bed clothes were soaked. All this happened inside a couple of minutes. It took 2 to 3 days before I could eat anything (in bed most of the time) and I had to take anti-nausea medication the whole time. It's bad (worst I have ever felt) and the very thought of inducing this experience again by way of a manoeuvre like the one described... well, I think I would rather die.

I've had this thing twice in my life. The last time was last year. The only cure for this seemed to be doing certain movements like you showed in this video. Both of those incidents lasted about 10 days total before it was totally gone. Every time I'd move my head even a little bit my eyes would do exactly that and the whole room was spinning fast multiple times a second. So I was throwing up a lot and only a specific exercise helped to get rid of it. I don't understand how people here in the comments say that they or someone they knew had this for years. It's must've been mild for them because in this condition you literally can't even walk without hitting walls and throwing up right after because where ever you look everything spins so fast just by moving your head even a little bit

As a massage therapist for 28 years, I dealt with many cases of vertigo. Some were caused by whiplash injuries, while others were because of head forward postures due to sleeping with a large pillow or sitting in a lounge chair with a big headrest, or even looking down for hours at books or knitting. The muscles in the front and back of the neck are meant to share the work of holding the head up and keeping the eyes level. If the head is too far forward because the sternocleidomastoids (SCMs) are shortened and tight, the person may feel dizzy and off balance because the eyes can’t tell them if their body is upright. They may also have pain in the back of the neck because now those muscles are doing all the work of trying to pull the 11 pound head straight up against the tight SCMs. They will go for therapy and want work on the sore back neck muscles, which stretches them and allows the head to go even more forward. The solution is to first stretch the skin lengthwise over the SCMs, which sends a message through the nerves for the muscle to initially relax. Then the therapist can work to lengthen the now desensitized muscles. Gradually the patient works over a period of days or weeks to reduce his pillow height when in a supine position to the point of being flat with no support, then painlessly letting the head go a little bit back off the edge of the bed, and then finally being able to reach the arms up and back off the bed as well. All these should be done to the point of feeling stretch but not pain, so that the body does not react to protect by tightening up.

@cmwHisArtist
@cmwHisArtist Год назад
@@juliennespiteri1974 …..the one I tried to describe at the end of my comment is best, done lying flat on your back on a bed, gradually lowering your head to the mattress with different height pillows over the course of days or weeks, until you can get the head to go back off the edge a bit without pain. Rolling the head from side to side also helps to stretch the SCMs. Basically anything to get you from a forward head and shoulder position to one where you are completely upright, especially the head. Since I can’t show you pictures, you can try googling stretches for the chest and front of the neck. You want to lengthen the anterior muscles, and THEN strengthen the posterior neck muscles. Good luck.

I then learned that certain foods could exacerbate the problem (like coffee or chocolate) and in my case I thought it might have been dark chocolate (because I didn't drink coffee) so I stopped it completely. Having heard that calcium crystals could be the cause, and knowing that K2 helps drive calcium out of soft tissue and into the bones, I immediately upped my intake of K2 by adding an extra 100 mcg. Since I was already taking 5K to 10K of D3 I didn't bother increasing my D3 intake. In any case the problem immediately went away, never to return. And to top it off I can still eat a couple squares of 85% dark chocolate every day with no issues but I have continued to take the extra vitamin K2 along with the vitamin D3.

I'm grateful to hear of your success to restored health. 💜 Please also note that Magnesium also drives calcium out of soft tissue & into the bone. It's indeed one it's many functions that occur daily (over 300+ enzymatic functions daily). Transdermal Mg is best to avoid unhealthy levels. Unfortunately, tests are inadequate at the moment, since 50% of Mg is in the bone & 47% to 49% is in the soft tissue, and approximately only 1% is in the blood. Best of Heath to You💜

He did not tell me anything about calcium crystals. I started my own research and realised that I was deficient in K2. I had been taking K2 prior to this, however during covid and isolation, had tapered off and hadn't taken any for months. I had also stopped taking as much D3, as I knew these work together. They admitted me and I stayed overnight and received 3 bags of IV drip, blood test, an ECG, MRI, and a steroid IV shot. The final diagnosis was BPPV, but they gave me no other information on how to fully recover, or what caused it. I did feel better after the steroid, but it took me about a year to feel fully recovered. Small bouts of dizziness would happen randomly for about a year. It's very real and debilitating. Happened to me violently after air flight from CA to NY, then onto Paris in 1994, came on really suddenly, room violently seeming to rotate, I grabbed a garbage can, laid on stomach, clinging to bed, seemed like 5 minutes to calm it down after real vomiting. It was my daughter's senior foreign language class trip, a few of us moms were chapperoning. Roommate mom thought I was contageous and got out of the room fast. I knew what it was because my body reacts similiarly on amusement rides which I learned at age 8. I'm 76 and afflicted entire life. Apparently, That particular air flight was overtaxing due to length; I've used barf bag on air flight before, on shorter 5 hour flights. I've since learned about the wrist band accupuncture aid and I take an over the counter BONINE, a much milder form than Dramamine which knocks you out and causes extreme brain fog. Highly recommend Bonine, you can even cut the small pink tablet in pieces. I always carry it, as a bout can come on at any time especially triggered by laying on back, turning head to right, a normal bedtime occurrence. Keeping your eyes closed helps.

I spoke to my doc about it twice but his response was basically that vertigo isn't unusual and I shouldn't worry about it. I spent a little time looking online, and this is the first I'm hearing about the epely method/procedure. Anyone know if this should be done in between episodes of vertigo or while actually experiencing the vertigo? I'm worried about moving a crystal back into a position that triggers the vertigo.
@victorycall
@victorycall Год назад
@@B_Bodziak One more caveat: if you do have BPPV but the crystal deposit is in an unusual location, then doing the most common Epley maneuver could indeed cause a worsening of symptoms, as you mentioned. The maneuver as demonstrated in Dr. Berg's video is the most common version, to treat the most common crystal location. There are 4 different versions of the maneuver that can treat when the crystal is in different locations of the inner ear tubes. There are many RU-vid videos of varying quality discussing BPPV and how to cure it, and some go into the different versions of the maneuver. But as I mentioned in my previous comment, BPPV specifically happens when moving the head; it is positional vertigo. So if your vertigo happens when you are holding your head still, it suggests you do not have BPPV, and the Epley maneuver will not be useful.

Thanks Dr Berg, great video, but I would also like to highlight another factor that could be causing BPPV symptoms, which is hyperinsulinemia. I am sure in my case that low vitamin D was also a factor, but after suffering with extreme BPPV for many years, having the procedures carried out that you mentioned didn't seem to be helping, I decided to strip back my diet, because I was convinced it was something I was eating that was causing the BPPV. What I found was that these episodes happened after eating high GI complex carbohydrates. The episodes were scary and sometimes would last for hours, but there was no pattern to them, or so I thought. On a few occasions, the symptoms lasted for many days. Once I removed the carbs from my diet, the problem went away. I can also now bring this on again by simply eating pasta or rice, and I can also tell the difference between hyperinsulinemia., hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, because each one has a different type of dizziness which comes on in a set pattern following moderate to high consumption of the carbs over a period of time. In addition to the dizziness, other symptoms included heart palpitations, disturbed vision and sweating of the palms. I hope this helps other sufferers of this or any similar condition.

@@mariaali7404 It's hard to say, because I was eliminating foods gradually over time. I wouldn't recommend just stopping all carbs, I would decrease gradually. In theory you could be healed in a matter of days or weeks, but the withdrawal could give you some bad side effects. I started taking vitamin D for different reasons, it wasn't because of my vertigo symptoms, but I have been taking it for about 3 years now.

This makes perfect sense and unravels a mystery for me. I've had this occasionally for years and never knew why. It is debilitating and lingers, the most awful feeling in the world. Small episodes have happened while I was at the dentist, really horrible. In the past year it's been much better, but I didn't know why. Through optional wellness blood testing I found out that I was nearly deficient in vitamin D so I've been taking it for the past 10 months. In the last couple of months I've noticed the positional vertigo has not been an issue and I can even sleep on my right side which I've not been able to do in years. These dots have never been connected for me until this video. Now I'll add the K2 as well. A huge thank you!

@@darknesslight3593 I started out taking 5,000 IU of D3 and 1 dropper (about 500 mcg.) of K-2 (MK7) per day. Now I am somewhat random about it, and sometimes up the D3 to 10,000. These changes because I'm not in the sun much, my D level is still on the low side, and being a bit random about taking it as opposed to a consistent daily dose, might be more effective according to some. Well, so far, so good. Hope you find relief.

Just for the record, my mother got the worst vertigo in her life after taking vitamin D supplement 1000 units for about 10 days (in addition to a multivitamin pill). Most probably it was BPPV because it used to start after certain head position changes like going out of bed in the morning.

I'm currently experiencing a relatively mild case of this and had an extremely bad case of it a few years ago; usually ended up vomiting and falling down. The vitamin D factor makes sense, as I am a night-shift worker who rarely sees the sun, even on my days off. I was tested and found to be extremely deficient, so I've been taking vitamin D every morning after work. I will try adding vitamin K and see if that helps.

👍And in some cases, however, the cause is the atlas or axis out of alignment in your neck. This causes pressure on your trigeminal nerve and can also cause headaches or migraines. It is more of a disconnect feeling than a dizziness. Great lesson Dr. Berg. Exactly why I crave ice cream and salads and greens when congested. Lots of things can irritate nerves. Every surgery causes nerve damage. Scar tissue can even irritate nerves. Thank you Dr. Berg.

@yourconnection9303
@yourconnection9303 Год назад
Regarding the atlas or axis being out of alignment, this is common with people with TMD where they have the forward head posture. Doing posture exercises, along with doing head and neck exercises slowly twice per day helps - which also helps with hearing. In addition, put olive oil drops in your ears on a regular basis and it will dislodge wax in your ears if that's also part of the issue.

I have BPPV, the Eply maneuver didn't help at all, but there's another that truly helped developed by a doctor who has BPPV herself called the half somersault. Also the little crystals are normally attached to the little hairs inside the tubes of the ears. What sometimes happens is they can get knocked loose and float around touching the other hairs and crystals causing vertigo, not having anything to do with how much vit.d you have. BPPV is also caused by fluid imbalance in the inner ear and even eating too much sugar or having allergies or inflammation can cause it.
@victorycall
@victorycall Год назад
Vitamin D deficiency causes excess calcium in the fluids of the body. And Vitamin K is needed to utilize the Vitamin D. So BPPV can be caused by Vitamin D and/or Vitamin K deficiency, just as it can also be caused by eating too much sugar, or eating other foods that cause allergies and inflammation.

I’ve had a bad case of Vertigo that lasted for about 2 years. I’ve done the Epley maneuver to no end. It got to a point where it was causing me more dizziness. I managed to see a Neurologist and had my hearing, vision, and balance tested. I found out my Vertigo was being caused by Vestibular Migraines. Vertigo is one of the many side effects of Vestibular Migraines. When I was experiencing Vertigo I was also having severe headaches, migraines, neck pain, and sinus pressure. I’m on medication which helps but still experience Vertigo from time to time, not nearly as bad as it was before. I had one episode where I nearly blacked out while I was driving. Yes, I was driving while having Vertigo. I have live my life and go to work. I’m single and I must drive to work. My normal doctor wasn’t helping me so… I drove. My appointment with my Neurologist saved me. She listened to me and my symptoms.
