I think Chael Sonnen was the best coach, since he showed everyone how to take down Wanderlei Silva while wearing flip flops

Sonnens "failure is always an option" speech is one of the greatest motivational pieces I've ever heard.

Good list but i feel that there is a big omission of Jens Pulvar. The finale was all Pulvar and you could tell through out the season he really cared and lead his team very well even after being disrespected during the fighter picks. Legend

GSP Will always be my favorite because he brought Jean-Charles in, showing what true elite level striking is and also how goddamn funny that guy is.

I wished Chael pursued a career as an MMA coach. He would’ve been such a great mentor to Gastelum and especially Uriah Hall.

I don’t care for the coaches tbh, but I love when warriors like Andy Wang come off the show.

The interactions between Rashad and Rampage were legendary. They were true rivals going from friends to wanting to rip eachothers throats out within minutes lol.

The fighters being coaches is my favorite part about TUF, it's just nice to see a fighter from a different perspective and how they take on the role as coach

Brock Lesnar was super influential on Tony Ferguson’s Career. And watching him take tony to his gym was super awesome to see

I remember Tito immediately taught his team member how to escape the triangle after that person lost. Like immediately after the fight. Dude is a good coach.

When people talk about Tito, they always forget how good he was as a coach on TUF. He gave those guys all of himself. He tried 110% every day to help his team, and you could tell he really, really cared. I earned TONS of respect for him after that season.

Honestly Chael on 2 seperate seasons of TUF showed he could be one of those fighters that won't go down as a top tier great, but has the potential to be a top tier coach

I feel like Jens pulver and Matt serra should've been on the list.

GSP is not just a good coach but a good mentor overall. His a awesome ambassador for the sport.

I'm so glad Tito got recognition for how good of a coach he was. Making Kaycey Uscola practice escaping triangles immediately after Kaycey got submitted made me respect him a lot. He tied the emotion of losing with the knowledge to prevent it in the future.

The last season that just ended is the only one I watched, Volkanovski did such a fantastic job man... Wow

I think Brock deserves a mention. Not only was he a good coach on the show, but he brought his guy into his own gym after the season was over for training camp for the season finale.

Sonnen in TUF Brasil was impressive too. Keep in mind he was Brazil's archnemesis back then, was opposite a legend in Wanderlei Silva. And left the show with the respect of everyone who watched it, by being a much better person and coach than the Brazilian. (Wanderlei is so awful that he made the two guys who were opposite coaches some of the best in the history of the show)

Miesha Tate seemed to actually care about every fighter. She tried to cater to all of their methods of learning and training and genuinely made attempts to stop conflicts within the team.

Amazing that ole Cheal P never lost a round. Undefeated 🐐

How is GSP number 8? He literally brought the best coaches in all styles, picked the best fighters, was extremely strategic in choosing fights, remained composed thorough the whole season and both his fighters went to the finale. He literally did everything right

Brian Ortega giving his money he won in the coach’s challenge to Volks team because he knows what it’s like being an upcoming fighter with little to no money always sticks out in my mind, even if it doesn’t make him the best coach it still shows the kind of person he is much respect

Yo the Mayhem Miller pick was a good one. Didn’t watch that season but looks like he a solid coach

Chael and Tito being great coaches reminds me of alot of pro wrestling. In pro wrestling the heel (bad guy) takes the lead in the matches, he's the one making the decisions in the ring. To be an effective heel you have to know how to work the crowds, understand what works and make adjustments on the fly, the heels are usually the smartest guys when it comes to their craft and find a ton of work backstage when their in ring career is over. While Tito trips over his words alot there's no denying that when it comes to mma the man has a ton of insight andunderstanding of how to get the best out if the ppl that works with him, same goes with Uncle chael

How was tj dillashaw not up here? He obliterated cody's team on their season and was a pretty chill coach who genuinely cared for all the contestants.

Jens Pulver had to put up with a lot of BS from the show, BJ, and even some fighters. Despite all of that adversity, the finale was fought between two of HIS fighters, and he created arguably the most successful TUF winner of all time.

I’m sorry but how... how... HOW is Jens Pulver not on this list? He dominated Penn in the opening round, had both of his guys in the finals, kept his composure during numerous incidents such as the “pick a guy” fiasco, was extremely my supportive of guys like Diaz and Weems, and even took on an additional team member that BJ kicked off his team. I think he definitely deserves to be on here.

Did anyone else feel as though Ortega kind of took the easy way out this season? Seems like his coaches who he brought with him did 75% of the coaching and in-fight instructions whilst Ortega just sparred a few times. Don’t get me wrong his coaching team were excellent but I just didn’t really see Ortega as the main man where as Volkanovski was clearly the head coach for his side

Uriah and Kelvin are two of the best things that happened to TUF in recent years. My personal favorite season

I mean, Brock Lesnar also was a pretty darn good coach, he was unorthodox and some of his analogies made no sense but they clearly had an impact on his team, namely one Tony Ferguson but Brock did a good job acknowledging his fighters and genuinely caring about them, he did lose the coaching challenge but I'm pretty sure his coaching style left a big impact if Tony bringing him up at the UFC 262 presser is anything to go by

Tito is a legend and has had a more successful career than 90% of fighter can ever dream of.

Tbh season 4 didnt have specific coaches but matt serra was a great leader for them

Chael was by far the best IMO. Season 17 is my absolute favorite season of TUF between him, Uriah and Kelvin. Love all three of them.

Having never watched a full season of TUF I find this super interesting the idea of a champ or high ranked fighter coaching the potential next generation poring all their knowledge into a young man like a Brock and tony situation

Chael was the most surprising, he was really a fantastic coach not just against jones, even his season with wanderlei he did so well with what he had.

I don't know if he's in here but Patrick Cote he brought his experience from his time on the ultimate fighter and in the UFC and imparted it on his guys Canada provided all four finalists for that season

I'd love if you guys could also cover the worst coaches :-) Especially since so many of these good coaches stood out against how bad their rivals were. (Urijah Faber vs Conor McGregor, Chael Sonnen vs Jon Jones)
