It's weird watching this in 2018 where pretty much everything mentioned in this was done in Sm4sh. Makes me hopeful that Smash for Switch, if it is a new game, or if they do make it a port which I doubt it is, will fix a lot of the issues that people complain about in Sm4sh.
Let's see how this fares with Smash Ultimate. 10. Along with Bob ombs, The screen will now zoom in so no one is safe now. 9. Although Ray Gun is in, it got nerfed tremendously. The only cheap item in Ultimate is the Gust item. (Forgot what it's called) 8. Some characters got buffed e.g Sonic and others got nerfed e.g Bayonetta. The newcomers felt pretty balanced. 7. Tons of new music tracks on stages even if not from the same franchise. Sorry to say but no sign of What I'm Made Of ;( 6. We have some amazing alternate costume options such as Builder Mario, Wedding Mario and Meta Ridley. 5. RIP Stage Builder (Now it's in and you can share stages online. Definitely the best stage builder we've had.) 4. Although customisable movesets were removed, we now have Echo Fighters who feel different but similar, 3. To quote your Smash Wii U/3DS video: *Cue cheering and protests* *NOBODY LIKES YOU!!* 2. 5. You do get notifications on the Switch. 4. We have Quickplay and Arena battles 3. We have voice options. 2. Check and mate. 1. The servers have been really stable but there are some odd exceptions here and there. 1. Simon, Richter, Ken, Joker and possibly more to come in DLC. Overall, Looks like we got most of what we wanted from this list.
The top ten changes I would make to Brawl: 10. A more customizeable stage builder 9. No more clone final smashes 8. Stamina Mode HP should go higher (999%) 7. A Melee style Adventure mode to go along with Subspace Emissary 6. No tripping 5. Everyone should have their own unique Target Smash stage 4. A better Classic Mode with more special stages from Melee and 64 (Race to the Finish, Board the Platforms, and Snag the Trophies) 3. Less lag and more stuff online (Just like the video) 2. A balanced roster 1. Melee physics
Twas a good list till #1 JK, i wish some of these things did make it into smash 4. I think it would be cool if they added a melee gameplay style mode instead of making melee hd personally
1.) Notice how this video is almost 3 years old? I have learned since then, so your comment doesn't mean much anymore. 2.) Criticism is something I appreciate, it helps me with improving my videos. Oh and if annotations bother you so much then just turn them off. 3.) I love to listen the opinions others and discuss our ideas, as long as both sides are respectful to each other.
Some of the changes were reasonable and I agree with some of them, but some I think were personal issues. I mean countering the fan and the ray gun are so easy. Pikachu, Pit, Luigi and Game And Watch are not OP. They can be countered if you know them, pretty easily. The tripping and the random bombs are there because that's what brawl is about, randomness, that is what's makes it so fun! Although some of your suggestions were things that I wanted to have too x)
Update: 10. is now a yes do to Ultimate's new Sudden Death Feature that has the camera zoom in. 8. is better because any character you can "tone down yourself" if they are too OP (offline only) 6. all music still comes from the same franchise, apparently oh and I the 2. (1.) is better than Smash 4 because I'm not sure if a 5-minute-of-gameplay ban is not really enough to discourage rage-quitting
4:57 Wow, I know it is a little late to be watching this video but it seems like they literally took your words to heart color textures- yea traps/hazards- lava and cannon? friends online- yes more background- definatley The funny part is how spot on your choices were, it was pretty much the inly stuff changed from brawl!
1.) I've heard the Soul Caliber series has done that, and they are helping with the new ones. 2.) Pretty much the same answer as before. 3.) Patches to fix the game.
I notice that some of the things this guy wants has already been done for smash bros wii u. I think smash bros wii u is going to be the best smash bros. Because this time nintendo has made sure to fix most of the proublems that wher found in smash bros brawl. such as the tripping game mechanic that would happen whenever a character begins to dash or turn while running. And I think online match play on smash bros wii u is going to be much more faster and it won't lag. Olso Smash bros wii u is going to have downloadable content. If you own both the wii u and 3DS version of smash bros you get a free download. The free downloadable content will be mewtwo as a playable character.
Just to clarify, you do realize that this list has been uploaded for over 4 years now right? It's just the way you start your comment made it sound as if I hadn't paid attention to anything that was going on.
My changes for Smash 5, now that we have Smash 4: #10 New characters (duh) #9 New stages (duh again) #8 Allow ALL multiplayer modes to be played online #7 Customizable Final Smashes #6 Allow more players to fight at one time (16-player Smash anyone?) #5 New single player modes #4 New items #3 Team Attacks (including team Final Smashes) #2 Special Taunts And finally, my number one pick... The ability to host your own server with a hub map!
Burst Flare what my opinions are to the changes you want; 10 and 9: definitely a must 8: likely won't happen, but would be awesome 7: I WANT THIS!!!!! 6: 8 is plenty 5: would be cool. i'd include smash run from the 3ds version, since i don't like how they handled the wii u equivalent. 4: would be cool, but i can't think of any items they could add 3: would be awesome :) one way this could work is a team smash ball 2: not sure if this would work well, but i think i know what you mean; taunts that can strike opponents 1: i don't get where you're goin with this one :/
On Number 5, I meant ACTUALLY NEW modes. Smash Run is fun, but it wouldn't new. Plus I don't consider it a single-player mode as you can do it with up to three friends if they're nearby. For number 2, it was done in Project M but NEVER in official Smash. Now you see what I mean? Number 1 is an idea I got from watching a Machinima. It was basically set in a made-up game called Next Smash, where there are servers that players open themselves and there's a hub map (or lobby, if you prefer) and matches are live streamed to the hub map/lobby and you can send friend invites like in an MMO.
ah, i see what you mean now. that idea for no.1 is actually awesome :D not sure how it could work out, but yeah, i like it :) also, for no.2 there has been an instance of this sort of thing. luigi's down taunt can actually hit opponents. it's been like that since brawl i think. dunno if it was in smash 64, nor melee tho. adn no. 5, i can't think of any ideas for new game modes, but an alternate version of an existing one came to mind - team target smash, and team target blast (the minigame with the bomb)
i'm really impressed with the amount of suggestions in this video that made it into the new games. way to go, cjszero01. Still keeping my fingers crossed that we get DLC like you suggested!
Don't know why I remember this, but I think at around 7:45, I was possibly the Falco P3, cause I remember being in a match with two Toon Link's that eventually lost connection
though from recent screenshots of diddykong (oh god please have one banana) this guy called it...twice. It seems their will be forced trib]pping from banana's. I am starting to wonder if this was a reference for the new smash bros game?
I'm just saying, all 4 of the characters you named that are "too cheap" all are at the bottom of C tier besides pikachu who is at the top of B, so no. those four are not cheap.
Nick Mansour I still feel that Luigi and Pit have fast and powerful attacks with little waiting time before they can attack again. Pikachu is easily spamable, and Mr. Game and Watch's attack last for too long such as the Forward Smash. It would be like if Ike did his forward smash but if you touch his sword after it hits the ground you would take the full impact of the attack. That's the way I see it. Although I have seen why MetaKnight is broken and I completely agree with that.
Ok first off, Luigis attacks are not that power and the only really good thing about him is the up special if you can land it. pit is really fast is do agree but the one problem is his moves may build up your damage but his moves don't have any blast to them. Pikachu, and can see why you think he's cheap but there are better. and Mr. Game and Watch may have a long lasting forward smash having long last is a bad thing for him. The reason being so is because he has decent range and if it misses it last long so you can get a good smash on him. (Oh and when you say it last long that bad recovery time. and when I say hit him when he's in the attack that's a punish.
Let's see what has happened with SSB4 based on the demo stuff: 10) Planking is no longer possible to do to an annoying level, because you will NOT have invincibility frames on second and subsequent edge grabs. 9) Sadly, this doesn't happen. 8) This is still a worry, but if my experience with Link is any indication, Sakurai just may do it. Let's just hope cat-and-mouse doesn't become a dominant factor whatsoever in ANY matchup. 7~5) Can't judge properly 4) Not available on demo but these are available in the full game, obviously. 3) Yes indeed random tripping is gone. And good riddance. 2) Can't judge yet. We can only hope. 1) Indeed there's more characters. By the way, I hope Ice Climbers will be available even as DLC.
I'm glad the changes mentioned in this vid that are made are being made, the custom movesets especially - about time as it's going to be good to know clones can have movesets to make them more different to the other character.
#3 already happened, and #4 would be the worst thing that could happen in the franchise. This creates a bug called model deformity. And it creates nightmare-inducing images as you play for on the screen. THEY MIX THE AVATARS UP HALF AND HALF. I just couldn't do it.
I see you missed the Direct. Custom Movesets has been officially announced. Nothing you can do now except accept it or play online with strangers only.
Yeah, number 4 would never happen... I'm completely ignoring the direct and anything the developers say, they won't do it. I will still say this as I use Charizard's Ice Beam, or make Toon Link use Charge Shot, or use Metal Blades as Sonic... Also there's no chance Megaman would ever show up, c'mon, this is Smash Bros, not Marvel vs Capcom.
7BlackBoo What? You can't be serious. Next you'll be telling me that Custom Moves are also a thing. Megaman has his place... Wily's Castle, complete with moving platforms and Yellow Devil. Also cj upvoted me because I amuse him. :P
All right, now that we basically know everything about the Wii U version, let's look and see how many of these changes were actually made. #10. Doesn't look like it. Oh well, at least it was only #10. #9. Fan's gone. And the ray gun seems less powerful, but that might just be me. Oh well, better than nothing. #8. Pikachu and Pit seemed to be toned down. Not sure about the other two but they didn't need it as much. #7. Well, there are a lot more songs. But the different franchise thing doesn't seem to apply any more than it did in Brawl. #6. They didn't do it for every character, but they certainly didn't leave it out altogether. Most costume changes you expect to be there are. #5. Hopefully we will be able to play with friends online. Other than that, it looks like it will be WAY better. #4. Well...not ALL the custom movesets make them that different. But on the bright side... THERE ARE CUSTOM MOVE SETS! This seemed like the change least likely to happen at the time. But it did. #3. It's gone. That's about it. #2. 5. Well the consoles already do that. 4. There is 1 on 1, and For Glory mode. No co op stuff though. 3. Yes, now another chance to say "Told you so!" to people who said "THE WII U CAN'T DO THAT!" 2. Seems like it. 1. Yeah, thank goodness the lag is gone. #1. Well duh! :D Even if they weren't the ones you wanted at the time (except for Mega Man) we certainly did get a lot of new first and third party characters.
Yeah but even Brawl had some series without representatives take place, like Excite Truck in Mario Kart. Here would be a good example: The Koloktos theme from Skyward Sword would be a great song for Smash, but wouldn't really fit the Skyloft stage. What if you could have it play that song somewhere more fitting, like the Fire Emblem Colosseum?
Actually I think Marth and Game and Watch will return thanks to that Whiteboard drawing we saw last year. Ike will probably get the boot and be replaced by Chrom. Ice Climbers are in trouble though. Sakuari has said that it's really difficult to program multiple characters (specifically stating the Ice Climbers) on the 3DS, so unless he can find a way to make them work they might not return especially if the WiiU and 3DS are supposed to have the same characters for each version.
+Baby Mario Paco Zelda and Shiek are supposed to be switchable. I didn't come up with the name, it's something I heard a long time ago and Young Link was not one of them.
But that's stupid. It would be like if I was served a slice of chocolate cake with a little bit of almonds on top. I love chocolate, but I hate almonds. Does that mean that I rudely tell the bakers that I refuse to eat the cake because of the almonds and tell them that all of their hard work was for nothing? No, because I can easily remove them with a knife. That's what it feels like when you say you don't play mods, despite everything going your way. All of the improvements are the delicious chocolate cake, and because it has to be a mod to brawl, those are the nuts. If you just ignore the nuts, you are in for a delicious treat.
666blaziken I actually don't like almonds, but more to the point your analogy is flawed. I can easily pick off the stuff I don't like in my foods that's not a problem and no one cares. This would be more closely related to something like "Oh I didn't like this part of a movie so I'm going to make my own scene, add it in there, and share it with everyone else who watched the movie." Would that make it real? Would that make it a new part of the movie? It's also like saying "Hey this chapter of the book was really bad, so I'm going to rewrite it myself." It's almost like saying fanfiction is cannon.
And I could use almost the same analogy as you. Many movies (especially science fiction movies) that are based on true stories change events to make them seem better then IRL. For example, in argo, the americans had to escape Iran via plane. They managed to barely escape the guards, trying to shoot the wheels down, and they flew away. In real life, this never happened; it wasn't real. But it sure left a memorable impression on the viewers, and it was one of the most dramatic scenes to have happened. With that being said, it shouldn't matter whether project M is real or not because when it comes down to it, the most important part of a video game (especially a fighting game) is the gameplay, and with something as important as that, does it really matter if it is real or cannon? As long as it's a lot of fun, and entertaining, not being "authentic" isn't exactly a bad thing, and if it is, explain why.
666blaziken Good so you understand my point. I only want the real authentic games, the true games, not some fan made mod. Otherwise people will just start telling me to play Roms of games. "Hey it's okay, it's just like the real game". Sorry, but I'd rather support the gaming industry and pay for real games so that more games get made. If you can't understand that then that sucks for you. You're not the first to ask me to play Project M and you won't be the last, but my answer will be the same every time, no.
10- Well, SSBU's sudden death now has the screen zooming in, so that's something. 09-You got your wish for the fan to vanish (although the fandumb still wants them back), but the ray gun stays. 08-I have no idea where they are in SSBU's tier list right now. But Luigi's down special has its recovery attributes severely nerfed. 07-Well, songs in SSBU are now categorized by franchise, so I guess it's something? 06-Mario now has his builder and wedding tux. Link also has two different tunics. Good enough for you? 05-Your wish was granted. I think... 04-Well, this was a reality in SSB4, but in SSBU only the Miis have this feature. You can still customize amiibo players with Spirits, though not very much. I doubt Final Smashes could be customized since they take so much time to load enough as it is. 03-I wish they have removed Sakurai just like they removed tripping. 02-Nintendo and good Wi-Fi? Yeah right. And now not only the online is still terrible, you ahve to pay for it as well. DLC is a thing though. 01-That one is just dumb.
I can agree with that, I want to see something like: same move set systems yet adding a subtle hidden mechanic which a player discovers through practice where certain combinations of moves leave little knock back at lower dmg % to allow moves to chain into eachother. Hence combos that go from 0 to 60% before no longer working due to flyback distance animations. I think doing that would safely stick to the script while bringing SSB to a competitive stage. The fanbase would only grow from there.
Sudden Death should return because there can't be a tie, that would be stupid. Aren't cheap items rare, check if your game disc is broken. None of the cheap characters were mentioned, plus, you're seriously okay with Meta Knight and Ike, really. They have a perfect selection of songs. We're already getting more costume changes. DLC is just there to remind you that the game is unfinished, and Sakurai is not doing DLC since he doesn't give incomplete games, plus, DLCs should just be part of the game instead of having to pay extra more. Ridley...really?!?
CJ13r43 Never said get rid of sudden death, I said put in more elements so people aren't staying to the side of the screen so they can dodge the bombs anymore. Basically reporting a person who would be doing that is a fine way to fix that problem. You can change the amount of times an item can show up as well as which ones, come dude that's just basic. The real problem is playing online with strangers who keep those items on and you can't turn them off. Thankfully "For Glory" takes care of that too. Yes, I'm fine with Ike, he's powerful but slow. Metaknight does need to be fixed. So you're saying they shouldn't even add any new music at all? Wow, I see you haven't been paying attention. Sakuari said "DLC isn't in the cards at the moment. He wants to focus on making the game complete, then after that think about DLC." So he's focusing on all the stuff he can put in the game and then he MIGHT do DLC. Besides Nintendo does DLC justice, they are not Capcom. I see nothing wrong with having a game come out and then 6 months down the line new stuff comes out that they made AFTER the game was released to give it some extra life and if you don't want it you DON'T have to pay for it. Now let's take a look at what has been changed: More Costumes as you said. Custom Move Sets, No more random tripping, Nearly everything I said in the Online section, and so far we are getting a number of new 1st party characters and if Pacman gets in then we'll get more 3rd party characters.
lol, your right. i almost always use link all the time, however i think they incredibly nerfed him in SSBB and yet i still use him and do good. i think it's just because he's my best character anyway.
Dude, it takes a big man to acknowledge when their wrong or made a mistake. And I believe it is the first time someone who argued to me about K Rool being owned by Rare was wrong and admitted to that. Kudos to you, I respect that.
the fact of the matter is they have been working on the game for about 2 years now. a usual devolopment for a game usually climacs at 2 years, and were looking at the end of 2013 which would put it at about 3 and a half years. to me, this should be more than enough development time to complete a perfect game, especially since more than 1 team is working on the game and namco really likes to focus on one big project at a time.
@Cjszero01 Character skins, Megaman, NO TRIPPING, No more edge camping, better online and as of today at the Smash Direct, CUSTOMIZABLE MOVESETS ARE COMFIRMED!!! YOUR TOP TEN CHANGES LIST ENDED UP BEING A PREDICTION LIST!!! WOOOOOP!
I hate that a player can evade all the action and have zero kills; but as long as they're the last one standing, they're the winner. I wish there was a mode like "First to X number of kills wins." Or maybe each kill awards 1 point and each death awards -1 points; first to 5 points wins.
The WiiU has a built in Mic, has well as a headset jack that can also use a mic. So yes it is very possible to talk to others while playing online on the WiiU. The problem is not all online games do this but there are some that do.
Yes I agree completely, this game is fun but needs improvement. I actually have 15 changes that I would make. #15 is, input new maps from other games made by Nintendo franchises. #14 is, yes more options while creating new maps. #13 is, create your own Bralwer mode where gamers get to create their own unique player. #12 is, being able to do online campaign, so if you and your friends can game together when your not actually in the same room. #11 is, INCLUDE MORE CHARACTERS!
more modes: coop classic: you know what i mean. Wifi coop classic: you get it. All 35 mode: you fight against all 35 characters leading up to crazy hand, master hand, and the final boss of SSBB, includes yourself and you can switch characters each round but you can't choose the same guy you picked last time(I really wan't this in SSB4). Master mode: fight master hand with every character, your prize is to play as/unlock master hand, you have to unlock every chatacter in the subspace thing in order to unlock this mode, you have 1 life and master hand now has more hp every round starting with 100hp and adding up 10, you get a random character each round but you don't get the same one twice. Boss mode: go back to any boss that you defeated in the main story mode, this time they are much harder. and lastly, Enemy mode: survive loads and loads of enemies from the main story mode, a menu will show up letting you select the difficulty, the types of enemies you want to spawn, how likely you want them to spawn(rare, normal, very possible and possible) and where you want them to spawn.
I agree with this completely, my best character is Jigglypuff. Everyone's good with some character or other, so it's just finding the right one for you. Some are just easier to get used to than others, so everyone can use them easily.
In that case let me explain: I do not mean give Sonic's homing attack to Fox. That is not what I meant by customizable movesets. This is what I mean: Bower's old forward smash, or his new one? Ganondorf with a sword like in the games, or Ganondorf that plays like Captain Falcon like in the Smash games? Having two options of attacks that fit the character and can be switched between. This helps settles things like people who want Ganondorf or "Clonendorf" and helps make the battles unpredictable.
Yeah Sakuari has already said that the limitations of the 3DS' hardware is keeping the number of characters in check and that some characters like the Ice Climbers were proving difficult to work with on the 3DS.
The superscope has to be charged to do some major damage but just shooting it rapidly will eventually run out. The hammer was meant to be a killing machine but if the person somehow gets knocked off the ledge (random bomb most likely) then they can't jump back, plus it does make them move slower. The fan on the other hand has no limits and can be used to bring a persons damage to 999% with little effort. And can then do it again.
I agree with pikachu on nerfing, not so much pit, and luigi is not even a threat. It's not even possible to make a large roster that's perfectly balanced anyway, and it's surprising how much balance brawl has already for a fighting game. Also you made me realize how much I want custom robo in this game
I hope they add in an option where you can add the random people from Basic Brawl, because I've come across so many good players, that it's a shame to never see them again, or at least not know you're playing with them. Pokemon X and Y already upgraded on that, with random match up, you can add people you battle in random battles and or trades, and I'm happy about that. Also, another thing they really need to take out is the factor that on Basic Brawl, if there are three or less players, they add in a computer. I go online to play against players, not computers, sometimes, if I really want to 1v1 someone I got paired up with on Basic, and it's just us two, it's like, NOPE, HERE ARE SOME COMPUTERS YOU CAN FIGHT INSTEAD. But other than that, I desperately hope they add in the IceClimbers again, the ICs were my main since Melee, and I've bonded too close to them to see them go in the next SSB.
Good news for the both of us, tripping was confirmed to be removed from the next game. :) And considering how good Kid Icarus Uprising's online mode was and the better online servers for the the WiiU, I think we'll be okay.
Great video I must say. I agree with pretty much everything you said, and I look forward to more ssb videos from you when the new game is out. The only thing I didn't agree with was your opinion on which charaters that should be nerfed, but we all have different opinions on that :b. Those I really disliked was Meta Knight, Ice climbers(why is chaingrab even possible), Snake(my fav charater, but those hitboxes are so op) and ofc pit, with his spammy attacking style. :b
I would change it from side scroll to open world and have them fight in an open world in the story mode, but in the regular fighting mode I'd have them be in an arena-like area, and I'd make it so that certain arenas and characters could only be unlocked via story mode playthrough.
Sakuari did say that it would not be possible to bring back every character. Mainly due to the limitations of the 3DS' hardware and said that characters like the Ice climbers were proving to be very difficult. However he has said that so far none of the characters have been cut, (gonintendo website) and that he would like to try and bring back as many as he can. Also he said there was a limit to 3rd party characters, he didn't say there would be no more after Megaman, I still hope Sonic returns.
There isn't much I'd like Sakurai to do with Smash bros beyond actually recognizing it as a true fighting game. I feel that if he added a healthy balance of technical mechanics + unpredictability people love about Smash, balancing issues you mentioned might more or less fix themselves. Melee's game speed, short jumping, wave dashing and combo chaining was big in the community back in the day. If he could bring a small portion of it back it could help the series evolve.(continued)
I couldn't agree with you more on #2. I am totally bummed that they will be dropping characters like Ike, Marth, Lucario, and possibly pokemon trainer. They should have it where you can download the characters you want because I would like to have a huge inventory of all the pokemon they had in the history of the series and all of my favorite characters. They could scrap all of the characters movesets, add new one, and make the previous movesets available for your own fighting style.
True, but they have the help from some of the big guys from Soul Calibur and Tekken working on it and they could always have patches if problems occur.
What I would change: The Assist Trophy system. Instead of using a random item that randomly chooses an assist character, it would run on an equip system balanced with points. You would have a 10 point cap, and could equip them like a nickname. Minor Assists (such as Dr. Wright or Devil) would cost anywhere from 1-3 points. Helpers (such as Andross or Barbara) would cost 4-6 points. Intelligent Assists (like Saki or Grey Fox) would cost 7-8 points. A cooldown would initiate after use.
Here's some math for the custom move sets: If each character will have three different choices for each of their special moves, each character can have 81 different move sets. Add the Mii classes in, and that's 243 for Mii Fighters! That's a lot...
(Final) Continued... I'm not to upset about the whole story mode being cut or downgraded. I understand his point and to be honest SSE was pretty... generic. The cutscenes were the best part IMO because everything else felt so generic. We're in a generic open plain, we're in a generic underground dungeon, we're a generic laboratory fighting of generic looking enemies. Sure we got to fight bosses and Bowser's minions but other than that nothing really screamed Nintendo like Melee's adventure mode
Oh man, I remember what it was like when I only fought the computer in Melee and thought that would be the best anyone could be at the game. Yeah you really have to see how some of these characters like Snake sliding and Non-stop Metaknight are used by other people.
While i understand what you mean on mixable movesets, i see a lot of problems from it as well. As it is, they have a lot of balancing issues. Thanks to certain games like Mortal Combat, Mass Effect and even WoW, having too much freedom tends to leave to balancing issues. I agree with multiple sets of skills (even up to 3 or 4) but mixing between those sets can allow some exploitation to be used. It's a good concept, just hard to imagine being actually balanced.
Customizable move-sets could never be balanced, but I would like to see more fighters use the Groove system seen in Capcom vs SNK 2, where little details such as how meter is built are changed up. There's only a few grooves, but it remains complex enough to still work for what you're describing.
