I've tried most of the whiskeys on this list, and I definitely agree with Number 1. Redbreast is just a really damn good sipping whiskey. Approachable without being boring. Delicious without being challenging. It doesn't want a few drops of water or a cube of ice, it just wants to cuddle your soul.

I've had so many whiskies over the years from all over the world. I began with Jameson, then Glenfiddich and Macallan 12, and then, I found Lagavulin 16 - the pinnacle. I've since circled back and have a new found love and appreciation for so many other whiskeys, including a love for the Rare Breed. However, no matter how much I appreciate all whiskies, nothing - I mean nothing - is like sipping on a Lagavulin 16. It's like coming back home and sitting by a fire on a comfy couch. Even whiskeys that are 3-4 times the cost - pound for pound - Lagavulin 16 is the best.

@charliep9066
@charliep9066 Год назад
@@andrejkrusic372 I'd love to, but unfortunately, they're not easily available where I live. I just recently picked up the Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak finish bottle, and am excited to try that at 48% ABV - I have a soft spot for Quarter Cask. I'm enjoying cask strengths more often because all the notes are dialed up. Of course, I sometimes like something lighter on the palate time to time, so then I turn to Japanese, Highland, or Speyside whiskies. Cheers.
@charliep9066
@charliep9066 Год назад
@@joejanca I believe when you factor in all variables, including price and complexity, it's pound for pound best overall for me - for now, at least. I love to hear recommendations from other scotch enthusiasts.

I know this is random but hear me out. With Halloween around the corner, for some reason I can totally imagine you guys doing some sort of Wizard of Oz parody (I think it must be the whole "wizard" thing). Rex passes out after too much whiskey and wakes up in a strange land, where he must find the "Wizard of Whiskey" (Daniel). He meets some special guests along the way, and must be defeat the evil Whiskey Whitch of the Whest (Brianna) to get his wishes granted and get back home. Maybe instead of water being Brianna's weakness, it can be some watered-down (or just downright gross) whiskey. So much potential! Anyway, happy early Halloween!

Both Irish on this list are awesome, but I do find some inconsistencies with Red Breast 12. From bottle to bottle, sometimes I find it flat. Other times I have found it too fruity, almost to a point the fruit smell / taste is overripe. And then sometimes it's just perfect. Green Spot seems so much more consistent from bottle to bottle with the exception being the green apple notes are at times stronger than others, but not in a negative way.

the Classic Laddie and Port Charlette are my favorite of the Scotch. I agree 100% with the list in the actual order, not the "Hobbit" order.

I have a case and half of that Wild Turkey. That's very good old juice. Like the design on the cork.

I've been drinking my Redbreast cask with 2/3 12 year cask and 1/3 regular 12 year. Brings down the abv just a tad and tastes great

Awesome episode! So funny... Briana... is it Briana? Well anyway, I'm so glad you guys agreed with me back when I told you she really should become a regular. The whole thing is so much better, funnier with her included. You all are great, I'm just saying with her personality that adds tremendously to the show. Cheers!

I really like EC small batch but not the cask strength. I've had 151 Rum and even 190 Gran in hairy buffalo's but that was always mixed and back in the day as well. I can do 100 proof and might a bit higher but 130 is pushing it. My days of moonshine drinking are over(and yes I know shine is a lot higher than 130) :)
