@@MindyTunnell are you blind? RU-vid vancws doesn't remove ads creators themselves say in the videos like the one the op was referring to. They advertised their store right after the bourbon
Cracking up that the final line of the episode was "They taught me what a pearl necklace was." Would have only been funnier if you put up the shooting star "The more you know" graphic to end it!
Could we get a video of Brianna, Daniel, and Rex's favorite bottle from each alcohol category? It was really cool to hear the little clips about mentioning bottles of Gin or Mezcal that you really liked. Would love to see a video of you all trying each other's favorites!
I think what most people don’t realize is that the cheaper, watered down mezcals are super smoky and harsh. Those bottles are meant for cocktails. There are so many different types of agave that have wildly different flavors and have less of a smoke presence. They can be earthy, floral, and fruity as well. Tequila can only use Blue Weber Agave, while Mezcal can use a wide variety of agave, which each have their own unique flavor. It’s another expensive rabbit hole to dive down when you want something new to try :)
My brother-in-law is from Oaxaca Mexico where Mezcal origibates from and whenever I visit, I get unmarked bottles straight from a distillery he knows… so good! At their wedding, gift giving was a huge thing so his relatives were just giving all of the adults bottles. i managed to leave with 3 bottles I had to figure out how to fly back with😂
16:27 Mezcal margaritas have been my go-to at Mexican restaurants for years now! The smokiness makes it so much better. Also: Espresso martinis with tequila instead of vodka. It's not a combo I ever would have thought would work, but I tried it at a fancy Mexican restaurant in LA and loved it. Tequila adds a touch of funk that compliments the espresso shockingly well.
Great vid. The end... OMG! I'm glad I wasn't drinking my beverage lest I would have sprayed it all over the monitor. Who knew ZZ Top had educational value???
I do free oil changes... if anyone in my town needs one, pull through no questions asked... i do take oil do take oil fund donations though and business is booming. I put all the profits back into the community for more oil changes! Im stoked its working and i hope more people follow suit
When you were talking about a margarita made with mezcal it reminded me of one of my favorite mezcal drinks, a mezcal old fashioned. 1 pt mezcal 1 pt blanco tequila Few dashes orange bitters Brown sugar simple to taste Stir and serve just like a regular old fashioned
Great vid! I would love to watch another similar video with The Rock's Tequila, Sammy Hagar's Tequila, Dan Akroyd's Vodka, Danny Devito's Limoncello, and Maynard James Keenan's wine. ~Be Blessed
I've had a bottle of Bradshaw for a while and I never realized that it's a celebrity whiskey! It is pretty damn good but not very complex. It's definitely worth the price in my opinion.
I got a bottle of the D'usse XO as a gift and it was very enjoyable. Obviously the XO is older than the one you sampled here but I liked it having almost no experience with cognac
All I gotta say is keep the chick in your videos she speaks my language. You guys are all talking seriously about different flavor notes and shes like AAAAAAAAFFFFFFUUUUUCCCCKKKK and her eyes rolling back etc. PERFECTION instant
As a western Pennsyltuckian, I see lots of guys buying the Bradshaw Bourbon because of sportsball. I was pleasantly surprised that it's a good proof and solid flavors coming in at a good price.
Y'all, I rarely comment on stuff I watch - but I'm *SO* excited that you felt something good about mezcal. A little clay cup, with some orange slices and salt+tajin on the side, is like medicine for the soul. Some worthwhile varieties to look for: Koch El - Arroqueño OR Barril (both beautiful and clean daily drinkers. Reliable, fresh.) Yuu Baal - Pechuga (maybe my ideal pairing with food. The most vegetal of my favorites) Derrumbes - San Luis Potosí (Salmiana) (I don't see a lot of Salmianas around. Rich and warm) Bozal - Guias de Calabaza (Espadin) (it tastes *nothing* like any other Espadin. Refreshing, cool, mutant pick) Making friends with the bartenders at my local mezcal bar was a great fortune to me. I had been exploring, but these cats had access to a lot more than I was able to try before last year. I look forward to a Whiskey Tribe - Mezcal Adventures episode in the future :D
Love the humor and spirits knowledge with zero pretentiousness about it. Also happy to hear that Brianna learned such useful information from ZZ Top,.......🙄
When someone ask for a palatable rum, I usually refer them to Bumbu for just an easy drinking, sweet rum. The six year cherry cask XO is more for a nice sipping rum experience, and is a different rum sourced from Panama, rather than Barbados like the unaged Bumbu.
ZZ Top was also my very first concert back in '93... Still one of the best concerts I've ever been to! I also still have the original concert t shirt from it... It's seen better days and it's truly well loved and worn lol.
More pedantry from me: Daniel is wrong about mezcal. It's a mutually exclusive category with tequila, not the overarching category of which tequila is now a subset. It used to be as Daniel explains, but nowadays if you want to legally sell or export something you call mezcal, it must be made in regions, with ingredients and methods that cannot be used to make tequila.
My bro went to Mexico for his honeymoon...long story short, he likes a drink and, (to paraphrase) when in Rome, you gotta try the tequila. I had also asked him to bring me back some mezcal too (he did, and he bought a bottle for himself, which we tried at his house when he got home...and it's awesome!) So, what he finds while over there is that the locals distil their own and literally just sell it on the roadside next to their farms...for, like, no money...and it's pretty good stuff too! Itld be awesome to see you guys rocking up in Mexico at a few roadside vendors, buying random bottles then just doing a taste-test of them all once you get back to your hotel/rental. Itld be even better if you were able to pick out a winner and develop a business relationship with them too.
I love the Bumbu, but that said, I do enjoy a less sweet whiskey too sometimes. The bumbu has so much flavour and sweetness in it, makes for a great Cuba Libré for me. I think you guys would deffo prefer the Bumbu XO, the black bottle.
I had a friend bring homemade bacanora (another subset of mescal) from Mexico. Think of moonshine but tequila. It was like 140+ proof but goes down like water. That stuff was so dangerous.
There is another whiskey out there that is called tres hombres and has a nearly identical label as the balconies tres hombres but it's sourced from MGP and has no balconies labels on it.
Would love to see you try Outlaw by York Gin Company. Has won several awards and for me it is the Single greatest Gin I've ever had. The Botanicals shine through even with a mixer.
So I will be in Texas this April. I will be in Fort Worth area and plan a trip down to Balcones. Id really like to make the trip down to Austin to see you guys but its not going to be feasible. I was wondering if your whiskey is available in any of the local liquor stores or can I only get it from the distillery? Im sure this has been asked before but I cant remember.
My 3 favourite RU-vid celebrities tasting spirits that have names that I don't know (apart from ZZ Top and Ryan Reynolds). Sniff it: Mouth it must be the phrase of 2023...
Aviation was the first gin I actually liked. My wife and I toured the distillery in Portland and it wiped the bad memories of Bombay Sapphire out of my mind. Not quite as good as Conniption, out of Durham, NC, though.
The Aviation makes good martinis and I use it for my long island iced tea. You're not wrong, it doesn't make a good gin and tonic. I prefer Bombay Blue, or Biszbee Blue gin for that.
My first concert was Liberace at Shea Theater in Ashtabula, Ohio when I was about 8 or 10. My favorite concert was Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention at Cleveland Public Music Hall in 1971 with my 13 old brother.
@@wingracer1614 Rush were not my first concert, but they are absolutely the band I've seen most. Respect to anyone with both Zappa and Liberace in their concert history! ;) Now it's time to go mouth some Scotch.
Y’all should try to get your hands on some Barrel Aged Painted Lady botanical gin from Pilot House Distilling in Astoria, OR. Gin that drinks like a whiskey, and has an incredible flavor profile.
@Just2nv welll is actually 51% agave sugars and 49% any other sugar, usually high fructose corn syrup. I wasn't wanting to get into the specifics and nuances.
I've had Aviation before, and I think that what you are saying about it is right on the nose. Like, it is nice and smooth/mild, but for myself... when I'm drinking gin, what I really want are some of those really nice herbal notes. When I tried making a simple gimlet with it (just using the Rose's Lime juice), it was... horrific. Not saying that it can't work well with drinks, or trying to renounce Ryan (I'd be his Colossus any day), just that it isn't my taste in a gin.
Hol' Up: Lil Wayne's got Bumbu? I had no clue at all, that rum is awesome. Welp, guess I own another celeb alcohol, which I didn't know about. I bought it simply cause of the novelty and described taste, and it's just a nice rum.
Whiskey is why I'm DEEP into mezcal now. It's my go-to spirit, but I didn't like Dos Hombres that much (compared to other mezcals). I'm excited to see celebrities bringing more attention to agave spirits, but my wallet isn't :)
If you like the Balcones Tres Hombres and see another, taller more slender Tres Hombres bottle, that doesn't say Balcones on it,.. do not buy it thinking it is the same thing, because it is nowhere near as good. Not sure what the deal is with the two different bottles of Tres Hombres, but they are NOT the same at all. The Balcones TH is all Texas whiskey, but the other one is mainly MGP. Anyone out there know what is up with that?
My rocknroll buddies and I used to set up our electric instruments in the basement, start playing and passing a bottle of smoky mezcal "con gusano," then turn out the lights. Psychedelia, baby! You could see the music bouncing off the walls.
