Interesting reply. What the creator have to figure out , is if they put high light time stamps on their videos the more people would watch. Most people have low attention span, and want to cut to the chase.

Taking action I would say is 100% is the most important one once you have a vision. For a while I was just doing whatever, going with the flow, then I decided enough was enough and I needed to improve my life. I decided that the Military would give me the best options, whether it is retirement or education. So I talked with my local recruiting station, took the ASVAB and managed top marks. I’m now a Sailor in the Naval Nuclear Power Program and the confidence I have soared. All because I had the vision to improve my life and took action to achieve it. Shortly after I started improving my fashion game and discovered your channel, I’m the same heigh as you but roughly 20lbs lighter which makes king your advice and applying it to my wardrobe incredibly easy! Finding you Brian was by far the best discovery I made for my fashion game, I now look elegant even in casual spaces. Helping me stay casual, but still stand out from the crowd.

@@hespokestyle No problem, I'm thinking about starting a video blog called Gentlemen Style and Grace. I'm very concerned that many of the social graces are absent in our culture. I don't believe sweat pants and sneakers and a hoodie represent style but simply a lazy way of covering your body without having to prepare and think about your presentation. Furthermore, many men don't know how to treat a women, and many women don't know what it means to be treated well by a gentlemen: opening doors, walking on the outside, always seating facing the door, waiting until she's seated before you eat, placing a napkin in her lap, just to name a few. My "why" is these beneficial traits are becoming too rare. I want to change the trend to, if given the choice to over dress or under dress, choose overdressing, you will always stand out. Fashion has hijacked the place of style in our culture an I want to do my small part to help people think differently. Thank you again for representing the right things regarding style. Anthony

Wow. This is one of your best video yet IMHO. Impressed with military service, impressed with reacting to a hater and a good solid list. Would love to say I am perfect on all ten items, but would be a liar; All those traits are on my radar of improvements. If I may be so bold as to suggest a #11 Compare yourself today only to yourself yesterday and not to others...ie look how YOU are improving and not what others are doing/have/are etc etc. Had a hard time getting to this point and still slip a bit, but am much better that I used to be. Social media can be a killer of people's confidence in comparing themselves to fake others. Oh and I had my opera and classical music exposure from Bug Bunny..so yes they need to lighten up.

Hi Brian, if you recall I played a jazz concert(I play jazz keyboards) with you in 2006 in Tuscon with DJ Dubble8! A month ago I got inspired to get into classic men's clothing. I've only had 1 suit in my life, and it hasn't fit in years so I decided to buy a new 3 piece suit and a pair of brown calf leather Oxford shoes. I've never thought about dressing in a traditional style. Now I'm really into it, I've been watching your videos for weeks and have been really inspired by your style! I bought a vintage tweed sport coat at a vintage suit store, and want to get lots of suits and traditional clothing styles, as I want to upgrade my style! I was wondering you talk about all white shoes, but for me I'm not comfortable with all white shoes, I have some New balance walking shoes that are really comfortable but not super stylish. I'm concerned that all white is a bit loud, bright and can get dirty easily. Have you seen Nike Killshot 2 leather shoes? They have traditional colors in off white, grey, navy, gum soles that would match most styles. I'm looking for something beyond a walking/running sneaker, that's more classy/traditional looking.

Navigating life is difficult. There will be times as men where we will be crusaders and at other times we will welcome the advice, insight, and perspective from other men. Either way, if we're prudent, saint, and moral men we all can raise our heads high in confidence, self-reward, and self-respect. For all the Lucas's out there; Brian doesn’t discriminate, exclude, or alienate. You can take all or as little of his advice as you'd like. He’s here to simply help us navigate this difficult life and its corresponding obstacle course of a journey based on his experiences and states it no other way. I don't personally know Brian, and I don't always agree with him - I also have a point of view too - but I respect the man entirely. I'm sure most of us aspire to his approach to life, thinking, and diligence when it comes to decision-making - I know I do. Again, for all the Lucas's out there; take note from Brian Sacawa, I'm sure you'll learn something worthwhile.

Dang Google. I just wrote this long comment and google seems to have lost it. Anyway, love this video. I feel like confidence and lack of vision have held me back from my full potential. Not that I haven't been successful. I've had a very interesting career where I quit my IT job early after college to go to culinary school in NYC. The chef thing didn't quite work out, but some opportunities fell in my lap to go back into the software industry while living in NYC... and suddenly they were offering for me to relocate to Asia, where I lived for 10 years and then the same company relocated me back to the US. The money is good, etc., etc. But at the same time, at this point in my career I kinda realize that - at least regarding the positions I've held in my work - I've kinda just been along for the ride and a little complacent. A good chunk of that first 5 years living abroad just seemed almost like a detour in life. But in hindsight, I'm realizing that if I'd had a clearer vision of what I wanted to do or achieve in my career, I could have done more, while also enjoying the ride.

Hi Brian. Not sure if you can be critical about this because of advert contract, but which one do you think is better? Tiege Hanley or Aesop? I've tried Tiege, it's good and I'd recommend it but shipping to Europe is big pain in ass. Good work as always and I wish you happy holidays.

They're both great. Though in terms of ease of use and getting everything together AND price, Tiege is a clear winner for me. I did use Aesop for quite a while but it's hard to keep up with because of the cost.

Great tips, and congrats on your success. I'd like to share my perspective on examples like Lucas for the benefit of the community here. This is more than just simply a "hater". This behavior is a form of bottom-feeding where you "point and put down" to gain a false authority and attain instant status. Unfortunately, it works, especially in situations where there is information overload, or the consensus is naive. Brian, I was curious, do you have any advice on how to use not-straight folded pocket squares in professional/formal settings? I work at a law firm where there are not many people using pocket squares. However, the ones that do use it, only use the presidental or other straight folds. I almost feel as if I am looking un-professional if I use a puff or something similiar. Simultaneously I feel that patterend or multicolored pocket squares don't look good with a presidental fold, and that they are better suited with, for example, a puff. Therefore I feel sort of restricted to white or other neutral/one-colored pocket squares.

Get a white pocket square with a nice hand-rolled edge and show off that edge. And, if you're dealing with white, invest in a high quality silk square and do it as a puff.

I think one's physical appearance can definently impact their self esteem and confidence as a whole. As an ugly guy or someone who isn't as attractive as I know I should be I find myself not being able to fully appreciate the contributions I bring to the table. I have a strong work ethic, I'm dependable, I have a decent sense of humor, and I treat people with respect. And I've worked on making myself the best worker I can be. But I'm not happy, still. Do you have any advice Brian?
