Don’t get me wrong the other guys do great work but watching Adam work on the cars and learn new things just like it’s back in the day with the 240 is the best content.
Everyone dogs on rotaries until they drive one, comparing brochures they are garbage but even with terrible numbers they are a hoot to drive. Adam has a lot of absolutely insane cars but I've never seen him giddy excited about any of them like this Datsun and the 4 rotor Supra

The thermostat in the 13b actually regulates the flow through the entire engine. So if you remove the thermostat then the engine will just circulate the coolant through the front of the engine and not the whole engine
Adam is far too invested in this "simple street car". As I typed that, he semi confirmed my thoughts in the intro... A full rebuild and overbuild of it. And I'm here for it
They legit sell them with different size center holes. Called water outlet restrictors. High flow electric pumps flow so much that it needs slowed down like you mentioned. Slight pain because you need to change them as the seasons change.
Yeah if the water flows too quickly not giving time for the rad to do its work...but his issue was at idle and then the bottom hose was sucking in . Meaning a restriction. Versus a free flow

I love this build and how addicted to it you have become. Old school rotaries are so addictive, take it to the drags and see what times it does now then upgrade it and test again

Love the mighty Datto!!! as a teenager i would ride the train and look into peoples backyards and see a Datto , get off at the next station and walk back and usually end up with the car for $50 or free if I could it running, I've had at least a hundred, 1000, 1200, 1600, 180b, 200b and my favourite the mighty 120y - I am loving this content, many memories coming back :)

we used a 90 gtus clutch fan with the gtus oem shroud on a 510 with a 240z rad. direct fit and oem cooling. do next: 4" turbo back. rotaries hate backpressure. kid came in with his dad and a t2. wanted a quiet muffler put on due to nieghbors complaining. guy came back 4 hours later, the rotary blew a hole through the muffler splitting it open. we warned them no warranty cause it was a bad idea. we use to put 4" on the scca fd's that just had bnr stage oem turbos on them back in early 2000s. they are loud with a 4", but its needed not only for flow but egts.
I can’t get enough of the Navy Bean. My brother had this powder blue idk what year ( 70 something, early 70 something maybe ) Toyota lord knows what model when I was in high school. This car reminds me of it so much. It even somehow has the same general body design as that Toyota. Not exact of course but similar. It was just his winter beater so nowhere near as nice looking as this car. Luv the Datsun content guys. Good stuff.
The full “build” is coming! That’s what I’d like to see. Simply because this car is different then all jdms but unique with the 13b! Give it a good stance, reliable tuned 350-400 mark and enjoy it for the weekend cruises!!
New full exhaust, bin the OEM water pump and replace with an electric water pump as a start. Love the old school car builds cant wait for more content!

I've raced racecars For a very long time I found out using a plate of metal drilled out to 1/4 or 3/8 or something will allow your car to cool as you beat on it and open non- thermostated cooling system will cause your car to overheat because the water cannot flow through the radiator and cool off obviously here to suggestion using it or not..... i like your videos keep going
These Datsun GXs build crazy fast drag cars here in South Africa especially the hatchback version like this one. The sedan versions that are called deluxe are very rare and usually built to look nice with a fuel injection mod instead of carbs.
Im still loving this thing!! If you want more power put a bigger cold side to the turbo, ot just a bigger turbo.. These motors can run an absolutely ludicrous turbo and love it.
It’s always the simpler things that are the most enjoyable. 😎 I’d make it streetable. Fix the exhaust leak, WG, brakes (Wilwood 4 piston) and beat on it.
LZMFG-FabWerks- Def. needs to do a good downpipe and 3in. full stainless exhaust. Then throw some more boost at it! My bets are on either the driveshaft or the tranny giving up the ghost because you know Mike's going to push it to 400-450 HP. Time for some bolstered seats and harnesses in that puddle jumper!!!
Ok I’d love to see a full drag build with this thing. It would fit into World Cup Tres Cuarto vs Warrior class. 3/4 chassis with no restriction on turbo size and you’re allowed to run nitrous(which you’d need to spool that giant 98 you’d single spooly boy) 2200 lbs with a 3 rotor and 1900 with a 2 rotor. No rules for trans, clutch, shifter, or fuel…. It’s the Wild West of drag classes. Also it’s the class that Cleetus competes against with Mullet in the Warrior class.
you could use a fuel filler hose at the bottom of rad as they have a spring in them that will stop the hose from sucking flat as an extra fail safe after checking rad for blockage
This might be the closest Adam gets to a first gen RX-7 build and I love it, even if it's not actually an RX. Granted it's a lot closer to an RX-2/3/4, but hey, older tin can rotary cars are just their own kind of special.
