True car guys respect all cars. They may not like some of them personally but they respect them. All you people being rude to each other in these comments really need to step back and realize that life is all about perspective. Especially when it comes to something as personal as what cars you like. Showing such disrespect to anybody's preferred car is something that a teenager may do, not grown men that claim to be car enthusiasts. EDIT: Well except maybe a prius... that seems like fair game. (kidding, kidding)
But I think most of us can agree that we hate ricers. No, not just civics. I mean ANY car with ridiculous cosmetic modifications that degrade a car style-wise or performance-wise and the driver bragging about it as if it were a race car. If he mods it to his/her taste, fine, but don't go around glorifying it.
Teflondonavelii662, I drive a 2015Kia Forte Koup Sx Turbo but yet whenever I see american muscle or any domestic car I have nothing but respect for them. Personally if i had the money I'd be driving a 2015 Mustang 5.0 or a Corvette Z06
Speaking of that, that is how you can tell the difference between a Plymouth Superbird and a Charger Daytona. The Daytona spoiler is more straight up, while the Superbird has a sweepback to the side fins. The Daytona spoiler is mounted at the very rear of the car, while the Superbird, the fins are mounted somewhat further forward. I love them both! There's a guy here where I live that gets a white 70 Bird out a couple times a year and cruises the local boulevard. Last time I saw it, it had 51,000 miles on it. Last year.
@@highoctanegames another way to tell, super bird has scoops on the side. They also have different splitters, different nose cones, the charger has a vent in the nose cone. Also the charger has functional vents above the fender
I've got a green 69 charger S/E with a 440 thats stroked out to 500 cubes. It is outrageously fast and fun and it is only about 515 HP and torque. Runs on 91 pump gas. Lots of fun.
Personally, I like the ‘69 Daytona better than the modern, even though it’s “ridiculously long,” it’s truly amazing of how great the power of any car could have. Thanks for the video.
That's funny. Here are the list of American cars I've owned: - 1996 Mercury Villager - 1994 Mustang GT (Cobra R clone) - 1998 Corvette - 2002 Mercury Mountaineer - 2002 Hummer H1 Wagon - 2010 Ford SVT Raptor No connection to American cars, yeah.
Awesome machine! When I was a teenager, I remember seeing (more like feeling) a Daytona drive by painted up in Petty red and blue colors. I swear the ground shook as it went by. :D
Coefficient of drag isn't something hard to enhance. The aerodynamic shape with the best coefficient of drag is already known. What's hard to design is a car that has a good coefficient of drag and also have down-force enough to create traction and to be fast on corners.
Anyone else notice Mikes SRT8 Magnum in a few of the shots? Great video guys. Love everything that comes outa the smoking tire/drive and I go back frequently to some of my favorite episodes. Keep it up! Thank you for the free content.
Mike is actually my neighbor's friend. met him a few times before he moved- all around awesome guy and has awesome cars. When I heard he was on Bullrun, I quickly became his biggest fan lol
My dad built a clone of a daytona.... Funnest car I have ever driven, scary at the same time. Love this daytona and really makes me want to get back to work on my challenger (first car i bought without parents help!)
I came here just out of curiosity after listening to Matt apologize on his latest podcast. Has everything gone out of control? What kind of bitter, humorless and dull “thought police” would lead him to apologize for such innocent comment? It’s hard to think why anybody would take offense from it.
@Automobili3XF I like that Matt has matured, but he's gotten pretty soft and tries so hard to be offensive anymore(which I understand to a point since he's damn near 40, but come on). But in his defense, this joke is more cringey than offensive. So I can see why he would be embarrassed by it now. I just wish he didnt get so upset that it comes off as racist, its not actually that racist. Just really cringe.
Great show, I also think cars are to be driven, I don't really care for the trailer queens, there nice to look at shows but your right we only go around once in life DRIIIIIIVE EM. I drove my '69 Judge and always had fun in it.I also plan to drive my '86 442 but with a W30 455 and a Muncie. Keep going with this great show, Velocity Channel should put you on instead of a couple shows they have.
sniper1334 The prius also goes well with your purse and lipstick.... Come on, this car was so fast it was banned from NASCAR in 1969. Priuses have no business being mentioned near the holiness of the Daytona Charger
Ryan Norton He's comparing the air drag of the car. Less drag = more fuel efficient. And the fact that the car came from an era when no one gave 2 shits about fuel economy it's very cool this car is a slippery through the air as a fish. Meaning it can go like the stink!!! :D
im pretty sure i know what drag coefficient is. Thats kind of my most of my job. Well that and other fluid mechanics and flight mechanics (i dont really do the strength of materials part). So dont call me retarded. The prius is a mom's car that has no business being mentioned around such a hardcore muscle car / unstoppable nascar warrior, regardless of its "super drag coefficent." I could mention the GTR's drag coefficent of .26Cd, but no one wants to hear about nissans from the present time on a video about classic muscle.
Came over from podcast just now. Everyone matures. I met Matt and mike at 1lap about same time as this video. Matt was nice to my young son and asked us to hang out with him at the starting point at Tire Rack. Fun day.
I actually like that he's really matured(as one should) from back in the day with these old videos. I remember his Garage 419 videos and early smokingtire videos from my high school days, But some of his jokes definitely havent aged well i'll admit. Though this is not the worst thing he's said in his 15 years of entertaining, Its just probably one of the more cringiest things he's said lol. But I wish matt would not be so hard on himself for making an offensive joke like he does now. I think the PC California mentality has definitely imbedded itself pretty good now. Still love his content though, I've been a fan for nearly 15 years.
Lots of fake gear heads in here just trying to troll. I like all kinds of cars, not equally but then I don't go to videos of cars I don't really like at all and talk crap about it. Even though though I haven't driven it or seen it in person. That is something only a "car" guy with no life and no car would say.
Daytona or Superbird I don't care which, they are my image of a dream car. and I WILL manage to build one someday, I'll have to find a roadrunner or Charger carcass that are in BAD shape before I do. but I want to build one
Love the cat.. But about the drag coefficient. I believe a beetle is at about a .34 which sound pretty much like the Ferrari. Less drag coefficient can equal less downforce, and even with the cartoonist wing (which I love) you can see why the coefficient is low and that i bet the downforce pushing on the wheels is less than expected. Although at that weight, worries may not be long lasting at low g's
Kanya West is not very big. The only thing big about him is his mouth.. If it was not for his security guards he would had his butt kicked a few times by now..
Who fucking cares? It's not like you are directly funding him. Some people get their mouth bigger while their success gets bigger, and some got their ego bigger while driving a huge ass American muscle car (that'll be probably your case) ..
there were 24 Hemi 4 speed Charger Daytonas from the factory. there were a lot more that were just like 6 cylinders. but they go around the million dollar mark at auction.
8-speeds have already been in use for a while in cars like the Charger, as well as a lot of the German full-sizes. The unit they're using is an intelligent and fast-shifting box. The large number of gears means you can have a stump-pullin' first and an intercontinental overdrive, while the spaces between ratios stays reasonable. When you ask for power, it goes directly to the proper gear without doing 5 shifts in between. Ford and Chevy are collaborating to make their own 8-speed now.
I was a driver/mechanic when this was being developed and they were a thrill. I drove alongside R. PETTY at Chelsea proving grounds and that was a memory. Is yours geared for drag cause we break 200 easy, well maybe race trim is the difference. Even though i spent time on the chassis and hard driving cycles,,I was actually a Engine development specialist. But running a early prototype i collapsed/bent the front suspension. Down force matters.
That sound. I can't explain it, but even if my car only had 100 HP, I would still drive it as long as it sounded like that. I seriously need that sound on my car. That is what a muscle car (N/A) should sound like.
Precisely what are you talking about? The super car, the Viper, is back and better than ever. Their trucks are still perfectly competitive, especially now that the 2013 has the best fuel economy of any full-size pickup, and instead of the Neon we now have the Dart, of which an SRT4 version IS coming very shortly. Now granted, only one of those is technically a Dodge-brand vehicle at the moment. Oh, and by the way, they're bringing back the Barracuda, with a supercharged 6.2L Hemi.
It's not a Chrysler-developed gearbox; few companies actually develop their own transmissions anymore, that's why you see Allison transmissions in Silverados, Tremecs in Corvettes and Vipers, etc. The 8-speed is from ZF, and they also use the same transmission, in different spec, in the BMW 5-series.
