I definitely agree. Matty Healy seems to always have this incredible spot-on capability of piecing together the right words when it comes to writing lyrics that really grip the heart. That along side the instrumentals that the band wholly create just really establishes the feel & emotion the song produces. & this representation of 'Me', (along with the original version) just gives me those strong chills you get from a song every once in awhile, y'know? I could listen to this forever.
If you aren't a fan of one of their songs, try another. The vocalist has such crazy variety and is a multi-talented singer and songwriter. You have to be into their "indie" feel, though. That's really a lot of the appeal, although I can honestly say their musicianship never ceases to surprise/amaze me.

Best cover of The 1975 "Me" ive ever heard! You guys might like to try "sex" also by THE 1975 or Woman, or Robbers! But brilliantly done. I've listened to that track hundreds of times and know all the little nuances in it, great musicians to capture the depth of vocal tone and atmospherics of the track. Loved it and I'm sure THE 1975 would be proud of such integrity in your cover of that track.
2:32 to the end is just perfection... nice building slow jam, tasteful instrumentation, then the killer, emotional final chorus. Rivals the original in its own right.
Lyrics: I got a plane in the middle of the night, don't you mind I nearly killed somebody, don't you mind don't you mind I gave you something you can never give back, don't you mind You see my face like a heart attack, don't you mind don't you mind I was late but I arrived I'm sorry but I'd rather be getting high than watching my family die Exaggerate and you and I Oh I think I did something terrible to your body, don't you mind I put your mother through hell, don't you mind I hurt your brother as well, don't you mind don't you mind Oh I was thinking about killing myself, don't you mind I love you, don't you mind don't you mind I put your mother through hell, don't you mind I hurt your brother as well, don't you mind don't you mind Oh I was thinking bout killing myself, don't you mind I love you, don't you mind don't you mind
This is absolutely amazing. Insane production values, looks and sound astonishingly high quality and one bad ass cover guys!!!! BTW. the way Spencer and Elijah's voices mix and vocalize together just adds to the awesomeness.
Just discovered this awesome group this year. Unlike anyone out there in the music world. You guys blow everyone away. Take some time off to rest and relax. Please don’t burnout. You have so much more to do. Happy Christmas guys.
Absolutely unreal - one of the most epic videos I've come across on RU-vid - period. Your production, sound design/engineering and video crews are all absolutely first-rate, I wouldn't change a thing except perhaps add myself to the tech crew haha. Just awesome.
I've watched this video probably 100 times in the last year. It's disgusting how freaking good it is... So so much more than just a drum cover. The whole this is re-imagined so well.
This cover is one of the best cover i ve ever heard in my whole life .... makes you feel all the feelings at the same time ... just. indescriptible ..... All the lyrics take a powerful meaning which carry your mind in a different world of imagination/hope/sadness/compassion ... i don t know how to explain it Just a big thank s you to you guys you rock.
BadSodaProductions I cover it on guitar and I tabbed out a few parts in my comments section for someone who asked. I do every part at some point including the solo although I probably don’t play it exactly like Larson does. But I hit all the right notes. Anyway, here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s4SnN15c4qc.html
end of the day, that's just people trying to get likes and look cool. argue all you want, no real musician it's using Beats fur any purpose whatsoever in the studio.
How can people say this is better than the original? Or that the original is boring? The emotion Matty puts into every lyric makes this version look like shit.
They exist in a consistent manner! After time contemplating on both, my opinion remains the same. I enjoy the layer of two voices in this song better and a subtle but deeper bluesy quality to it. Although, I have the original in a daily playlist as well. As covers go-it's a rare gem.
TheFolkUtopia WHAT THE FUCK someone kill me please. they are not owner of this song the1975 are the only one owner to this. This song is sooooo personnel to matty that is even disrespectful to cover it. and then you are saying this. god help me now. please don't say something like this again.
Yikes dude calm down. Its just his opinion. I'm a big Spencer Sotelo and Luke Holland fan so I love this cover a little more since I heard it before I heard the original
Great instrumentals, but the vocals are missing the gravity of the lyrics. "I've been thinking about killing myself" should be emotional as fuck; that's not a cavalier lyric.
That's where the instrumentals came in, that had the most feeling to me. I felt like the instruments did the singing and carried the emotion. not always about vocals but the entirety and composition of the song very great job on this cover
yes thank you! this is a awesome cover but Matty "the 1975" just really must of had some pain.. also there are two version from the. I hurt your brother as well a then the 2nd is I hate your brother as well
The focus is on Taylor Larson's overall image of the reconstruction. While having two very talented vocalists helps, it doesn't make the vision perfect; the idea is in the replacement of layers with other instruments and variation among the form.
Wonderful drumming as always. Especially on the bridge with the footwork on the hi hat. Tasteful as usual. That guitar on the bridge was also fantastic. The 1975 would be proud.
The lyric is "I HURT your brother as well", not "hate". You could've least Google'd the lyrics. This stuff makes the difference between a professional band and some garage laptop RU-vid outfit. Devil's in the details. Also quit with the auto-tune and maybe one day you'll come close to having half as much real heart as The 1975.
You're beside yourself if you truly believe 1975 didn't use pitch correction at all. :) Pretty much every signed artist of any group uses pitch correction now.
+Andy Akins and you're beside yourself if you act like you don't know what he means. You are right though, everyone uses some form of pitch correction, however I think you know he meant the heavy usage of it to the point where it no longer even sounds human but robotic. It can be altered to sound computerized and robotic or simply correct off pitch and still have the emotion and sound of a human. I personally think it fits for this song, but there's no reason to play coy.
Spencer Sotelo, the guy singing the majority of the lyrics in this song doesn't use pitch correction or auto-tune at all. He's in two bands, and one of them shows various "album making in progress" videos of him singing exactly as he sounds in recordings, perfectly on key, while the other band members point out that he indeed doesn't auto pitch correct. He does large amounts of takes of lines in a song for a recording instead. I also find it hilarious that you nitpicked the song over a lyric. There's no cover "code" for having to make the song exactly the same; there's a lot of covers that change few words.
Rob Taylor he just puts too much emphasis on the word. He's still saying it. Jesus one word you mistook to ruin a beautiful cover. You could never give a tribute as genuine and beautiful to this band as these gentlemen have. So then fuck off mmk thanks
