Could you imagine if one day out of the blue Doug posted a video with good production value, with professional sound and editing, drone shots, with cinema quality choreography, he had on a professional suit and tie and a microphone that didn't pick up all of the road noise... We would be PISSED!!!
Why? Also why you bitching? It's not like doug once did high end production and let it slip. It's always been about his personality not the production quality. Also if he was to up the quality, the quantity would ultimately drop.
please can you include a engine start up in your videos please? i noticed this on your older videos and lately you have been skipping it. please dont! let us engine nerds have our moment there. mkay? thank you
Doug the type of guy to be a pioneer in standarization and comparability improvements in car reviews with consistent scoring methods and well researched and entertaing videos
Why would Porsche put the interior vent controls on a screen? Wouldn't it be easier if they were just normal vents? This is the sort of gimmicky nonsense I expect from Tesla. Not Porsche. Apart from that, the Panamera is fantastic
The worst part is that you have to look at a screen to move the vents, in my opinion is incredibly stupid, why do i have to move the eyes from the road to look at a screen to set something on the central console, I mean we had a pretty good solution already, dials and buttons you can operate with no need to stop looking at them road.
I wish they put a tesla style screen in the middle and got rid of that huge climate control nonsense in the middle. They could have saved so much space by using a simple row of knobs instead of that capacitive stuff. They could have put a 15 inch screen there!
Thats why I don't like Tesla. I don't need a fucking screen! I need haptic buttons when i want to change my climate or radio setting when going 200 kph and not have to look on a stupid screen! The Porsche is a car MADE FOR AUTOBAHN so you will travel at 200 very often. (apart from this you can't go 200 with a Tesla for a long time...)
8:26 Porsche has explained that. It was not because of mimicking race cars. They said that cabling is way easier to do on the left side and it is closer.
This cas is so weird, man. It doesn't have a screen in the back and it doesn't have 360 cameras. I know for a fact that the 2015 cheapest diesel model has 360. Maybe it's an option, though. And those Pirelli P7 tyres. Omg. Is that a law thing in northen USA? I mean it's good for Porsche as they are way cheaper than the standard PZero N1 or the Pilot Super Sport N0 the car comes with. It's just weird to see allseasons on a car that does the Ring as fast as a Ferrari 456 or a C6 ZR1 'Vette
+Paul Kaiser ye I agree that it sounds better and has much better handling but I just have a love for the 911 turbo s lol especially the exclusive series :)
+Paul Kaiser also it's much more comfortable to drive one daily than a gt3...that's built for a race track, the turbo s u can drive daily and still beat a huracan lol
Often its not a loose connection. Most of the time its because a lot of dust has accumulated in the plug. Get a toothpick and get it out and it'll work again.
My dream is to work at Porsche one day. I own a 2014 911 Turbo S and recently bought a 718 base as a project car. I’m a Porsche nerd. I just admire their company’s racing culture. No matter what model it is, no matter its SUV or sedan or supercar level, they are all ready for racing, yet, every model looks low key. Just, love Porsche.
I used to be a manager at a home depot last year and twice a week some guy with a Panamera hatchback was using it as a hatchback. Filling it up with lumber, all sorts of construction supplies, and so on. Was one of the silliest things I've ever seen.
I had a 2018 and loved pretty much everything about it! Only cons were 1) cup holder in the backseat also has a small plastic piece that has to be lifted to put drink in and people would never realize and it would immediately punch a hole in the bottom of a styrofoam cup and spill everywhere.. happened multiple times 2) MY ABSOLUTE LEAST FAVORITE is no way to start vehicle from the remote like any regular car… yes, there is an app however I always had problems logging in and loading. I was no patient enough for the app 3) did not have a surround view. I did order the car and I believe there was an option for it and I didn’t get it which I regretted. Not 100% sure if there was an option at the time though. 4) screen taking time to appear when starting vehicle and if didn’t wait and put in reverse, rear view camera might not display or the sensors. Super annoying when you get in a Kia and they turn it on and immediately put in reverse and the camera come on the exact second that they do. ITS A PORSCHE- handling is amazing! One of my favorite vehicles I ever owned. It was not bought for a daily driver yet it quickly became my daily driver because it was too much fun to drive and truly a convenient vehicle.
Great review. I love my Porsche Panamera S. It "only" has 400 HP (no Turbo). The Panamera definitely earns one of the top scores on Doug's list. It is a great all around car. It may not be as fast as a 911, or a Corvette, but with 4 large seats I can take my friends out to dinner in style.
I have a strong feeling that Doug was the kid who made the power windows and locks go up and down in the car constantly until an adult yelled at him about it. Love this guy! 😃👍
No Doug the ignition is on the left (or outside) because it would be faster to switch the car on with your left hand while your right hand moves the gear into first. There were no seatbealts for those coconut bearing racers back in the day.
I actually heard that Herr.Porsche's wife once switched off the running car and they almost crashed. Since then its built so that your woman doesn't interfere with your driving!
if there were new or exclusive cars than yea but the 717 callout is just fun and drag racing not really Doug's type of content.. It'd be cool tho for everybody to collaborate 👌
i really enjoy this guy`s videos , he is not trying to be funny or copying Jeremy Clarkson he has his own style that is funny and entertaining enough . I also like the fact that he is showing us all the cool features in details instead of trying to drive it as fast as possible . Doug if you are reading this : PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE !
I see these literally all the time in south Florida, it’s actually crazy. Once, I saw this mother and two kids who didn’t look anything special leaving a Burger King but they got into a Panamera turbo and that’s says all I need to know
We Test Drove A 2019 Porsche Panamera Not Long Ago And The Touchscreen And Infotainment System Was Excellent, Loaded With Features, And Was Extremely Easy To Use. The Touchscreen Was Not Laggy Whatsoever. I Think The Camera Just Made It Seem That The Touchscreen Was Extremely Laggy. The 2019 Porsche Panamera Was Tremendously Smooth And Comfortable While Also Be Tremendously Sporty. It Was Also Extremely Practical With Tons Of Space, A Large Cargo Capacity, And Pretty Good Fuel Economy. We Were Tremendously Impressed With The Car And We Were Tremendously Surprised With How Well The Car Rode.
As a Porsche purist, I previously viewed this car with the same disdain as the Cayenne. What business does Porsche have getting into the SUV and Luxury sedan market? The 911, “go where you think it” is their core competency. Well, I take it back. This thing is crazy good, albeit for a slightly different market. Not sure how many older drivers would opt for it as it isn’t “living room” comfortable, but I think those of us who have grown up with sports cars and are getting older would slide into this like a greased pig. Thank you so much, Doug, for this expose! And, BTW, I live right down the road from Sloan’s Porsche. May be paying them a visit very soon!
it's cool but 6:01 that's just stupid and a waste of time, distracts you. like when ford got rid of volume knobs for a few years. okay, it's cool, but what was wrong with the old one?
Hayes Riviere I think it's really weird how porsche became as impractical for the sake of modern gadgets as every other luxury brand nowdays, when it was always liked for its practicality and functionality. All those modern 'toys' are typically things that need constant (also expensive) repairs and will take pleasure away from the driving experience. Hopefully they will leave these gadgets as one of their way to pricy options.
My dad bought a panamera 4s a few years ago and it took him barely any time to get use to. Doug, it's funny because he was leaning towards an s class but I told him the exact same thing that you said in the beginning of the video. He had just turned 50 when he bought it, and I also told him that if he wanted to feel like he was younger, and not an old man, he should pick this car over the s class. And he couldn't be happier. When I started driving me, it maybe took me 2 weeks to get use to, so even though its a wider car, it's not too hard to get in custom too. Great review though and love the channel!
Soulx CrusherX They may call it a sedan but I consider this a hatchback. If the window follows the trunk like this when opened it's not a sedan. The Sport Turismo is a wagon.
I leased one of these for 2 years and was so happy to give it back! The damn center vent on that thing drove me nuts. I'm now in a Macan and I don't regret "downgrading." Every single time I got in the Panamera, I had to deal with the vent because there was no way to make it stay in the same position using a memory feature. I had a 2015 E Hybrid S Panamera before the 2017 and I preferred that for every day driving
Gosh how many times are people changing vents?! I have yet to change mine, just the side ones so they face me. Which aren't electronically controlled. That's your desire to toss back a six-figure Porsche?
The reason for the key mode dates back to their Le Mans ages, when the drivers had to sprint across the track, climb into their car, buckle in, start up, and take off. They relocated the ignition key to the left of the steering wheel so their drivers could start the key with one hand as they put it into gear with the other. A small advantage that Porsche took to the streets since then. Great videos by the way!
I can hear my dad from when I was 16 years old (1987) looking at cars with electric windows "Just something else to go wrong". Unreal the technology in todays cars. So much has evolved even in the last 5 years, just unreal!
And many European cars are not limited to around 250 km/h because of the winter tyres. It's just a "gentlemen's agreement". Limits of most snow tires are actually 210 or 240 km/h.
It was moving still because he was applying too much force to quickly move it back and forth. I noticed that too but he eventually did show that it wont shut on you
Doug, I just went back and watched your video of the S-Class from back in 2014. Needless to say, I'm happy to be watching this video. It feels good to be home...
I have always owned Mercedes. I purchased a Panamera 4s Sport Turismo. Absolutely love it. Can't compare it to anything in the marketplace. Metallic red..every where I go I receive compliments. Fast. Beautiful ride. Solid. Highly recommend
@mikepod6085 so I'm assuming you work at a dealership, and there is an incentive from Porsche to you as an employee, correct? If so I would love to know the amount LOL. Actually my car is in at the dealership today having some work done and I have a new Cayman base as a loner but it's well-equipped actually like it
Having to control the centre vent through the touchscreen is annoying, pointless and the ultimate answer to a question no one asked. You don't have to control the other vents through the touchscreen so why the centre one? I demand answers, Porsche.
121bham did an Indian fuck you up in some way? I'm so sorry for what happened to you, it clearly left you with some mental conditions and issues. You can't even speak properly, and you get triggered at RU-vid commenters names (not even the comment itself). I think you need some serious help before it's too late
121bham oh no worries little buddy, I don't take offense when the mentally challenged say something stupid. It's not your fault you don't know better, you poor thing. Try not to reproduce though, not that anyone would want to with you anyway. @Matt Berg, considering that he is unable to simply tie his shoes without assistance, he probably lives in his moms basement. She's a little embarrassed when company comes over (he must smell because of the adult diapers)
I wish I'd had this car when I bought my new Troy-Bilt TB240 Lawn Mower... Lowe's Guy: "You're putting this in that?" Me: "Yeah...(flips down the rear seats)...need some help?"
Half of this stuff my 30,000 dodge challenger can do lol. My challenger has the manual mode directions correct where down is up and up is down, it can type in the radio channel, move the sound around the car with a scope, etc. I love it lol
+Andrewgyny 17 years ago it was my fathers Dream car too. Now he owns one guys my dad is someone who grew up with nothing. Dropped out of college to help his mother and started a Company and now owns cars that people Dream of so like yea dont drop out of college but follow your dreams and TaKe care of The most important people in your life before they're gone
