The 2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante (which means convertible in Aston) may suffer a couple hundred pounds and two tenths of a second on the way to sixty, compared to its fixed-roof counterpart. But that certainly doesn't make it slow. In fact, with a top speed of 211 MPH with the top down, it's the fastest convertible Aston Martin ever, and really nails the traditional grand touring formula.
Aston Martin provided the vehicle, insurance and a tank of fuel for this review.

It is not that heavy, just around 150kg heavier than a 911 992 for the Coupé (dry weights). And superleggera is also a construction method....but still, I think they should have just called it dbs volante. Dbs superleggera volante is such a silly long name, and I don't like the superleggera badging....

The newest DBS SuperLeggera is in my opinion the most beautiful new car you can buy today. I think it’s gorgeous and after seeing a few in person, it somehow looks even better in person. My only gripe with it is the old fashioned torque converter automatic. I know that the car is supposed to be more of a grand tourer than a strict track weapon, but I think they should have gone with a DCT. But at the same time, what do I know. I drive a Miata so my opinions don’t really matter

I always loved when Aston Martin would announce their lightest model ever, everything carbon fiber, titanium exhaust, light weight wheels and it would still be 1000 pounds heavier than the competition 😂😂

Well, the competition for this car would be other GT cars. This isn't a super car. Something like the Continental GT is 1000lbs more. The Mercedes GT-Class is 4400lbs.

Jayden Hippolyte Er... no. Can’t be a GT car and a super car. That’s like a coupe also being a sedan at the same time. A GT car puts comfort and luxury in front of performance. A GT car can still have gobs of power. And while it technically has more power than many super cars, it cannot hang with them on a track.

Seems like the switch just needs calibrated for the window. This would usually be done by the mechanic who carries out the Pre Delivery Inspection.

Great video, I love the sound of the engine/exhaust. By the way, Camera rattle sound did not come thru. I'm sure if I hooked up my phone to my stereo speakers I would hear it, but nothing that creates a problem for the viewer. I've noticed that most of the time when a RU-vidr apologises for noise, I only notice it due to them having pointed it out. By the way your new Car Park is simply out of this world! I've kept up with the build, and its impressive on so many levels!

The front windows one touch up/down probably still use european Ford window controller. That will require "calibration" by hand every now and then like once or twice in a year. I don't know why it does that, but it has been in Fords quite some while. Most cars only require that when the battery is removed.

The issue with the onetouch up is probably that the window's rubbing slightly against the weatherproofing and interpreting that as someone's finger getting smashed.

For a turbo, it sounds sweet but it's a hefty bit of kit and a more robust transmission really wouldn't have gone amiss. It kinda sucks that all that torque can't be fully realised until after 3rd gear. Still, this has to be the Aston to go for.. It's almost as good as the coupé, performance wise and it's unbeaten for looks as a convertible. Looks 10/10 Sounds 7.9/10 Performance 7.8/10

The video makes it sound quieter than it is because when I film with the top down, I wear a lavalier microphone, whereas when I film with coupes i use a microphone on the window.

Window issue could have been the pinch protection. Maybe you reset it with the switch before you demonstrated, either way it worked

The coupe I was able to get a lease at less than 1% MSRP monthly including taxes with 0 down. If you are in the market and like the coupe they have large discounts like all Astons do currently.

The door windows torque sensors ( probably a Mercedes component :) ) probably need calibration. I've had the same issue in my C class, only on hot days it would drop down 10 cm"s. Colder days, no issues. Very annoying if you live in Belgium with like 1 month of nice weather :)

I feel like this car completely alienates previous gen Aston owners. With its unnecessarily turbocharged engine, lack of manual transmission option, $5 worth of LCD screen instead of luxury watch/jewel like instrument cluster - its a completely different car for a completely different buyer. I miss the Ulrich Bez Aston Martin.

@3:20 Gonna try the triangle test here in the U.K on my 2004 Celica and then on my New 2017 GT86 in Jan, but guess some of our roads here are so bumpy, triangle will not be maintained no matter which car I use. @6:52 Seems like Aston Martin trying to do their best McLaren impression of expensive car with poor build quality .

You just need to normalize the window. If they have anything to do with MB you raise the window by pulling up half way (don't engage one touch) when it gets to the top, let go then hold the up button again and count to 5. Do the same thing going down. Voila

You are not the only person, who find this car outdated. The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera looks totally outdated in the interior. And a lot of people seem to forget, that all these Aston Martin cars just have a very mediocre build quality, despite its horrendous price tag. The perfectly built BMW M8 Competition Cabriolet for example, which has an even higher level of quality, just fucks the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera at any situation. This BMW with AWD and all its amount of tech (and "only" 625 hp) just rapes such a snobbish Aston Martin. Totally overpriced British "snob car" ...

@deadend well, i think that as a fact is funny. Considering that everyone told me that I always need to downshift when I want to overtake someone in driving school. Makes sense though, and explains why that DBS did only ok on the 1/4 mile but turned into a missile on the 1/2 mile on one of the "10 cars dragrace" videos (was the one with the McLaren)

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the styling. I don't love the way the new Jag's look, and this Aston looks like a Jag. But way more expensive. However, I DO like the sounds of a twin-turbo V12 (literally and figuratively). The older Aston's had such an obvious design signature, and I feel like this car is an unnecessary (and possibly unwanted) departure.

if you're on a track in third gear, that's one thing - much easier to avoid hitting redline because you have the torque to just use mild throttle. if you're in a smaller area using first gear, and it keeps hitting the rev limiter and upshifting, that's no good.
