The best cockpit interior since the MKIV Supra! Driver is completely separated from the passenger. I also like this one with the side scoops the body color instead of black, it really let's you see the beautiful shape of the car uninterrupted. A couple things I don't like: The rear end looks way to busy and the taillights make it look like a Camaro. Also the stock wing is hideous. They need to fix the rear end in the next iteration. But for $60k those are minor issues.
I’ve been driving sports cars for 20 years and I don’t even know how to relate to this experience. And for $60k? America can still do it when we put our minds to it.
All super/sports cars are over priced just cause they know you want it. That goes for anything. Even gaming consoles or phones. Cant tell me a iPhone costs 1500 to make 🙄😂😂
schmoab $60k ? You know dealers are going to mark them up 40/50% for the first year, such a shame too because at those markups the average buyer would not be able to get one 😔
But the brand brigade will say "it's not about the design or the materials" or other hullaballoo because they want to validate within themselves that the expensive European marques they hold so dear cannot be equalled by an everyday American.
3.3s is fantastic considering real world variables! We have to remember cars are benchmarked in near perfect conditions, i.e. elevation, temperature, smooth roads, one driver only etc. So to anyone saying that 3.3s "isn't as advertised," Remember he just did that on a whim on a public road with a passenger! (added weight)
Bladed Angel I ran an all out mile in Nevada in a SS Camaro and got up to 140 mph. I had my navigator step out and my next run hit 150mph yes carrying a passenger does effect your times.
Some of us truck owners like cars too. I've driven dozens of Corvettes and know for a fact they will smoke my old Silverado but I still want to have fun. Run what you brung.
RHD Corvette.C8 likely still on its way down under , Managing Director of Holden New Zealand, confirmed the Corvette would be arriving in New Zealand. www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/119628902/rhd-corvette-likely-still-on-its-way-down-under
14:42 I love how tommy says "sure" with a tone that says "my dad is going to get so wrapped up in the sound that he will end up leaving me in the middle of the dessert because he's too busy enjoying the exhaust note to remember I never got back in the car".
I love how this car has the same infotainment system as my 2019 ZR2, it is a great system and it's cool to see that they put it in everything, even their best
So, for me the jury was still out as far as looks and style until this vid. Now, I’m in absolute love with this new C8. That engine is mechanical music, and just everything else brings it together. Thanks TFL
This car still blows my mind. I can't believe it is in production with this styling. All of the extra options on this vehicle and the sticker price is nearly identical to our premier tahoe, crazy value in a super car.
Enjoy Life Its not a super car. Super cars are built using the finest quality materials available Its a great sports car but it is 100% not a super car.
Am I the only one who LOVES the body color “C” shape on the side!? I’ve been waiting to see it and I’m a huge fan. And the spoiler delete... man this is beautiful!
flipboy06 I’ve been saying that since the first day I saw the car. It is SOOO much better with the side trim body color and no spoiler. I wonder if you can order Z51 and not get the spoiler?
@@jagpilotohio I don't know. I ordered a rapid blue base with a high wing spoiler. I might have them wait to put it on. I think red or black are going to be the best body color c bracket cars. I really liked all black. Freaking sinister.
To be honest the father and son vibes in this vid are the best part. The car is cool but it's awesome that you two got to have a moment that you'll never forget together. Thanks for making car news videos fellas.
That's the first thing I thought of as well. LOL I'm hoping to buy one in late 2021, once they have the inevitable first year hiccups out of the way. It also gives me time to persuade "the boss" that we really need it. LOL
Finally a car with the exterior I was thinking of. Torch Red, matching side intake and no wing. I think it looks amazing. Can't wait to see my first one on the road. My dream car was my 1967 Vette. Had one. But this is in a different universe.
That's actually one of the biggest problems with this change to mid-engine. modifications like that really aren't going to be possible. at least not easily and with a lot of compromises. For example, look at that engine bay again. To get that supercharger you mentioned the pulley would nearly have to be between their heads to line up with the crankshaft pulley
*WELL OF COURSE!!!!!,, IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE TIGHT!!!!!!,, IT IS A GODDAMN SUPER SPORTS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!* *IT IS NOT MADE FOR SOME BIG GIANT HEAVY FAT ASS!!!!*
@@amazoidal that "1954 engine" isnt going anywhere anytime soon, and the small block chevy will outlast just about every other gasoline engine in production today.
In the new Car and Driver, the Camaro Zl1-1LE was raced against the GT500. Both blown. The Shelby did 0-60 in 3.6 and the quarter in 11.4. 0-100 in 7.1. The Camaro did 0-60 in 3.4, the quarter in 11.5 and 0-100 in 7.4. The Camaro has better traction because of it's superior electronic LSD and weighs 200lbs less. But the two-valve, non-crossflow pushrod design took it's toll in the breathing dept, even with the blower. CD: " By 100mph, the Ford is quicker than the Chevy by .03 second, and by 160 mph, the Ford is more than 5 seconds quicker. It's 132 mph trap speed in the quarter is ample proof of the Mustang's power". The Chevy's trap speed was 124 mph. That's why the NA C8 will be slow compared to the Mustag in the quarter despite having a 1 liter larger engine. Yes, there is a substitute for displacement. It's called breathing. I wouldn't pay 73k for a C8 unless it had the new engine GM has made for the C8 and C8R. It will have 32 valves and 4 cams. GM will slowly discontinue the "small-block". First cars, then trucks. It's way overdue.
This is filmed in such a way that i get the impression you guys have just stolen this vehicle. Can't say that i blame you. I was thinking about doing the same.
This is why I love GM. People give them crap about their vehicles, reliability, business practices, etc but they do put effort in their cars. Honda and Ford are asking ridiculous amounts of money for their supercars, Toyota didn't even attempt with the supra (they opted to rebadge a bmw) but GM created a beautifully crafted vehicle and they are charging an astonishing price for it. For every xt6 or camaro we have to suffer through, they release a c8 vette or 2021 escalade.
HOLY SHIT THE RUMOURS WERE TRUE! That natural dipped looks great but from 4:05 on look at the reflection in the glass from the dash. You can't even see outside almost in some parts of the windshield the reflection is so vivid off that natural color.
That’s why Ferrari/Porsche/Mclaren offer same color interior but with contrasting black dashboard and upper interior panels which eliminates the glare of this light color. My guess is Chevy will adventually do the same
Gadgety My guess is it’s cool to the touch. I say that because magnesium is not the best conductor of heat which is probably part the reason they use this high quality material for their manual shifters.
@@mybro727 Magnesium has thermal conductivity of 160W/mK. Aluminum is 250ish and titanium is 22W/mK. Whether or not it is "cool" or "warm" feeling will depend on the ambient temperature, but Aluminum will "feel" the warmest in a warm environment or coldest in a cold environment because of it's high thermal conductivity.
75k for that is a damn bargain! I am not a massive corvette fan but GM did an amazing job 👏 Also, keep up the great work TFL! It is amazing to see your channels grow
Well the dad is 6'2" and it looks like he has another good 4 inches or more to back the seats up... also on these cars you can drop the seat more or angle it higher at the front bottom part so your legs are stretched out farther and you lean more back giving you the opportunity to see out the window better? Get in one and see one day
kevin rossiter This is a mid-engine design though. There’s over 42-inches of legroom here. If you can drive a Tahoe comfortably you can most likely fit in the C8 comfortably. Head room is down a bit but I think you’ll be alright.
Chevy cars aren't made for people like us. Anything over 6'3" sucks for fitting in a camaro or vette trust me I know. Angling size 16 feet with my long bony legs always sucks and I dislike trucks so boohoo lol
I've been a Ford Mustang lover all my life, but Chevrolet hit it OUT OF THE PARK with the New Corvette!! Beautiful lines on the exterior and the interior as well. Great job Chevy, you have really given the American people an exotic car that HAS THE LOOK but, most importantly is reasonably priced!!
Wooow I’m so glad you guys got to drive it. What a beautiful and amazing machine. Chevy did a perfect choice about moving the engine to the middle rear. 👏🏽 👏🏽
Allen Jacob Bitch, please shut up. I never said anything about it being cool. It damn sure was entertaining especially the fact that neither person paid it ANY attention.
You guys make an amazing duo, you're the only ones that i've seen doing this kind of duo perfectly. Congratulations. Saw your channel since Escalade 2021, will suscribe.
The quality looks good(surprisingly), styling looks great,we know its a reliable engine and zf transmission is one of best on the market plus all for around $70k? Can't beat that! M2 costs $70K+ and why would one buy it over Corvette? IDK.
Only because Roman can't street race a car he doesn't own, and can't speed. The c8 would wreck even highly modified trucks, let alone a 20 year old Tacoma lol.
Good day @2:40 Never say sorry for doing that. I love power and acceleration. Dont EVER apologize for fun. Side note. I watch your son in time to time.keep it going
What a beauty. Just last week I made up my mind to dedicate my next few years to getting a ‘67 Shelby GT500 but watching this video has put me on the fence. Damn.
Me too. I have an '18 Z06/Z07 with a manual 7-spd that only has 5,223 miles on it now. I was thinking of keeping it since front engine/manual Vettes are history & then I'd buy a C8 Z to park next to it. But I might just sell the C7 Z if the C8 Z turns out great. I don't really need two of them. Lol
