Expectations run really high for Ford's new Explorer - it's always been a top notch family SUV. The new one lives up that legacy...mostly. But competition has never been higher, and the new Explorer isn't without its flaws.
Thanks for your honest review. Standout features for me is the excellent safety, good performance and high top speed of the Explorer (218km/h). Take care!
I just bought the ST , 3 months ago and I love uncorking 400 hp in sport mode especially with the super aggressive shifts! It has fit and finish issues and the audio system is average at best. But all the shortfalls just disappear when you brake boost it and launch it in manual with traction control off! It's a fun little truck at a decent price point!
First time watched your videos. Very well pointed the plusses and minus's. Have you tried the ST version ? would like to know if the gear shifts are jerky like all other explorers. As you said they dont spend enough time/effort to refine those details. That what makes german cars better i believe. And more expensive as well...
I haven't tried the ST, but I haven't been entirely satisfied with Ford's ST efforts thus far. I can't recall the gearbox being particularly jerky, but it's far from the best automatic in the market.

Hi there need your advise, i am confused between ford explorer and toyota prado, ford drivers better and has better options, but prado has good off road capability,i don't do extreme off road is ford reliable?
If you're not going to go offroad very often, the Explorer is perfectly fine for most light sand work. It can do serious dunes, but you need to be very skilled! The Prado is much much easier to drive offroad, but more lumpy and leaden to drive onroad.
