The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E is Ford’s Tesla Fighting Electric Pony Car 

The real Tesla fighting electric SUV is here and *spoiler alert*, we really enjoyed our time with it. It's not perfect, neither is Tesla, but Ford has proven that they really put a lot of effort and money into developing this car to be an EV from the start. If you are considering a Tesla or any other EV, this needs to be on your list. We can't wait to drive the GT version later this summer!

Don't forget people: competition is good and only makes products and services better for consumers, while also lowering prices!

I came for the solid sounding thunks and the felt lined, damped glove box..

While I understand where others are coming from, I don't find the use of the Mustang marque objectionable. Before it became a performance icon, the Mustang brought motoring to the masses. The Mach E tries to bring EV motoring to the masses, and for that, I find the nomenclature justifiable. *Drifts quietly into crowd*

They should have called it the “thunder bird”. Lol

At first, I was appalled at this new “Mustang”. Then I grew an appreciation for hybrids, hatchbacks, and electric vehicles. So now I really like this car/crossover. It’s really sweet if you don’t treat it like it’s a mustang.

Once they slapped the Mustang name on this thing it became a real BOOMER-mobile.

I feel like once charging is as fast as pumping your car at a gas station electric cars will sell better.

So glad GM didn't call the Chevy Volt a Corvette E.

Amazing car. These electric cars seem expensive, but for the tech and power you are getting, it's actually a very sweet deal. I just wonder what happens to the battery after 20 years, if you own the car that long, would you lose a lot of range?

Imagine if they named it the "Galax-E"

The naming scheme is hella smart, it got a lot of people talking about it and covering this car, exposing those who would have had no interest in it previously to this car. And the buyers of this vehicle really don't care about tarnishing the mustang name, they care about having a good Ev, which this is. I think ford did well on this one, maybe they can get back into the car game with EVs.

I'll stick with my gas fed F150 AWD with 600 miles of range. Can't see myself on a long range trip and spending and hour or more to recharge the battery. These EVs are good for around town driving and to/from work. These companies really need to push on getting better range than 270 to 300 miles. Needs to get 500 miles of range before I even look at one.

When the Charger from the 60s-70s went to that awful small K-platform people said it wouldnt sale. Had alot of backlash and it sold very very well.. many years later i believe this will too.

6 Reasons to get a Mach-E over a Model Y: 1. You can test drive it. Model Y not very easy to get seat time in. 2. MUCH better looking. I don't have a problem with the Tesla's looks, but Ford nailed the look here 3. Tax credit 4. Screen in front of the driver. I want that, and Tesla doesn't offer it. 5. Can enter car without card or phone with Ford Passkey system. Can start car with code as well. 6. Accurate range estimates. Tesla overestimates range. Ford is either on target or underestimates

The Mach-E deserves the Mustang name more than underpowered 1982 Mustang II Coupe.

35:54 You're comparing apples and oranges here. The "range estimation" on the Tesla (which is shown next to your speed), is actually more like a battery % indicator on your smartphone (by default it's actually set to %, but you probably changed it to miles of range left, in the settings). It is only calculating the remaining range based on the battery charge and the EPA range estimates (so it's basically your estimated range in ideal conditions at around 50-60mph). If you want a more accurate range indication, you just go to the Energy tab, and it will show you the estimated range based on your average energy consumption in the previous 5, 15, or 30 miles of driving. Also when navigating on a trip, the Energy tab will show how much energy will be used along the route, and it takes into account temperature, driving speed, elevation changes, etc.

This is fantastic vehicle from Ford. Only thing wrong with it is the name.

I love this car. And I love redline reviews. The only reviewer I watch before bed each night lol my husband has to tell me to please turn my phone off multiple times as I fall asleep.

Its a funny thing.. No matter which way you look at it, Ford hit a homerun with the Mustang Mach-e. And so much has to do with the very fact that the Mustang Theme was its inspiration. By taking notable REAL mustang cues , its created an singularly attractive vehicle even by crossover standards. No doubt its one of the best looking in the segment, and its attractive both inside and out. No it doesnt have THE most expensive interior but its design and styling makes up for it. Its tech may not be the best of the best but its in the top 2. And in regards to the Mustang controversy.. All i can say as an Actual mustang owner is that i see the vehicle as a sibling, a cousin of sorts, its its own class of vehicle. And as such since its given the name mustang i expect great things from it. and surely im looking forward to the GT version. I dont see it as a replacement to the sports car coup. and its not, i dont think Ford nor anyone else should see it that way. BUT!! i do understand that Ford needed to pull rabbits out its hat to draw eyes to their new EV. and they figured the best way was to lend from its most important vehicle, the mustang. And look.. lets not forget Porsche was the first to do so. no they didnt call the cayanne a 911 but it certainly took all the cues from the 911. and look at all who's followed their lead. its about selling vehicles and keeping the company afloat. Ford couldve called it something else, but i ask you.. do you believe anyone wouldve payed any attention to it? likely not. because Ford wouldve gave it a dumb name. And it wouldve flown under everyones radar no matter how good it is. People now have a new found respect for mustang. Those who jus a few years ago bashed the marque, are now the ones gleeming from ear to ear racing around in their gt350'sand GT500's . Ironically there performance levels was always in the mustangs Dna, but only a few truly knew how to extract it properly. far too many were all about straight line dragracing with little to no experience in driving dynamics. and the few tuners that truly were doing it right like Saleen, suffered from not being a drag race tuner house. and so many had no idea what true performance ment. As a Saleen owner, i can say those shelbys are great, but its nothing new in regards to Saleen. Now we can see such performance on an EV cross over level so its big business all around. So the mach e is a good thing. And it will serve to help the inevitable mustang coup ev. particularily as a donar vehicle. something the mustang coupe never had.

Im sure every one of the thumbs down on this video is a Tesla owner. I to was scratching my head at the decision to call this EV a Mustang, but I understand the reasoning behind it. It gets a lot of people talking about is but also you brought up the very good point of it giving the Mustang brand a future too. My wife and I are petrol heads, we have owned the Camaro ZL1 1LE, we are currently waiting on out 2nd C8 Corvette, currently own a Chevy SS (Holden Commodore)and had 2 of them at one point, and other off the wall cars, but we test drove the Mach-E a week or so ago, and yes it does have some things not to our liking (all of them fixable with a software update) but none of theme were enough to prevent us from putting an order in for one. This will be out first full EV and Im actually looking forward to owning one.

I checked the price its 60.000 for GT and 40s and up for the rest.

Good on Ford for providing a removable cord plug for the evse (charger) to allow for Level 2 charging. Love the looks of it, and don't care that it uses the Mustang name. I think they could have made the volume knob about half that size.

Looks like an impressive first start. Currently driving an Explorer ST and would love to see Ford attempt a electric/hybrid option for the ST using learnings from this car.

Would’ve been a great opportunity to use the Ford Falcon moniker with the Mach-E or GT-E trim. An updated badge would’ve also fit nicely where the running horse sits. I like it....but using the Mustang just feels wrong. Hell, even Ford Lightning would’ve been more appropriate

I'm probably a few months from buying the next car, and I really like the EV technology. But I absolutely dislike the minimalist interiors, enough that I won't even consider paying for one. Offer me this Mach E with the interior from an Acura TLX, and I'll buy it right this minute.

@32:00 I think if you have an iPhone 12 w/512 GBs than it is definitely the Apple iPhone. I have a $1400.00 [buyers remorse and beware] and it has nothing but been trouble w/freezing, camera doesn’t work time-to-time and Apple CarPlay has failed in 3 different vehicles I have driven. I cannot pair my Apple Series 6 watch and my AirPod pros continuously at the same time unless my iPhone 12 freezes. And this is my SECOND iPhone 12 within 21 days of purchase back in November when I preordered the phone. Verizon nor Apple know what the issue is with this Lemon that cost $1400.00.

i love that other car companies are now pushing for electric cars. Tho i am waiting for atleast a 500 mile range. Arround 8 hours of driving give or take an hour.

The 3 Mach-E's that we've sold in our dealership have ALREADY come back with issues! Don't get this piece of crap! 😒😒 cars not even a week old with their new owners and already throwing more than 15 different codes for lost PCM, ECM connection etc!

That infotainment screen looks glued on. At least make it look more integrated like the new 2021 Jaguar F-Pace or XF.

Closest charging station is 3 hours away from my house, ummm, no thanks.

This car, the Mustang Mach E is Tesla Model Y's nemesis. Sales of the Mach E in February was 100% incremental to Ford and all those sales were at the expense of the Model Y, whose sales volume and market share fell exactly in line with the Mach E's sales!

I am waiting to see how people that live in rental apartments can charge their cars. The electric grid is also woefully unprepared for the amount of demand coming. Love the look of the Mach E!

Did anyone else notice why the hood for the frunk didn’t close after the first slam? He showed us the charging accessories that were all nicely bagged in the frunk but he neglected to put them back neatly. He slammed it closed twice with the charger stuff hanging out. Oops.....

All these electric cars are disposable. By the time the battery pack needs to be replaced, it's range will be terrible, and the cost to get new batteries is high... So, buy a new one. I prefer to own a car for over 10 years Thank you very much.

I can stop noticing some bad driving habits from Sofyan lately, like camping in the left lane in this one. I get it is an annoying complaint, but he is a professional driver and should know and present better

I want to know what the impact is going to be..what happens during all the accidents I'm sure battery acid is an issue. Imagine all the incidents last year but think about them being all elecric. Is this really a better option???????

The only problem I see here is the infotainment system. It's not bad but could use some more fine-tuning. The range is plenty for the average driver and being able to charge at home to wake up to a full battery every morning is great!

I've seen the cost of battery replacement for the Mach E battery is 17k & 22k in the US, for the battery only. If this is correct isn't it a major issue that should be advertised.

Looks really nice. The only thing I worry about is the reliability...let's hope it does well in this area.

Can you turn off the screen if you dont want the screen glaring at you in the middle of the night? (Yeah I know it has dark mode but sometimes thats not enough)

Still none at my dealership; a couple that have been pre-sold due in next month. The salesman said I could put $1000 down (non refundable) if I want one. But I can to test drive and buy a Tesla today if I want. Ford needs to get demo cars out to all of their dealerships asap.

I would have to turn off that fake engine noise. The best thing about commuting in my volt is the silence. My other car is a cammed LS, but I still enjoy the quiet of a EV.

When you mention something else like the grill on another model that you prefer you should cut away to that model/grill, so we can see what you are talking about. You could also show the grill/model in one of the corners of the screen as you mention it, if a cutaway is not your thing. It also sounds like you keep saying “sen”quential, rather than “sequential.”

I have the Sync 3 in my Fusion and CarPlay just quit working out of the blue. Found the issue to be the cord. You need to use an original Apple Cord or one that is MFI Certified. The Sync system, if it detects any issues with the cord, it will lock out the USB Port. It may still charge your device, but will not allow the system to connect to the phone using the port. I had to get an Apple Cord, do a master reset on the Sync 3 to reset the USB Port, and it has been working without any issues now. I read on a forum that the Sync system does this to prevent damage to the Sync System. I would assume Sync 4 has some sort of the same issue.

Hm... I don’t hate it. I know a lot of people are mad at it for some reason even if they never plan on owning one, but I’m happy to see Ford challenging Tesla. I don’t see any other consumer friendly brands tackling a performance driven all-electric vehicle.

That Apple issue is classic with Ford. The old sync 2 on my focus ST had freezing issue when iphone is connected. It took ford 8 months to find out it's issue with Emojis, and 6 more months to figure a solution. I thought the new black berry system would be better than old microsoft POS.

The "Mustang" name created an expectation for this car. A style expectation, and a performance expectation. If Ford had chosen any other name, it would've ended up with an anonymous crossover like the Nissan Ariya or VW ID4.

You can find a Ford logo at the top of the windshield. The 240 volt adapter Ford supplies with the Mach E will charge the battery at a rate of 22 miles per hour. If you want 30 miles of charge per hour, you will need to purchase Ford's 48 amp home charger, at a cost of approximately 800 dollars.
