People really think its going to be cheap on the used market? Look at the current model ram 1500 limited for comparison that is still over 50,000$ used with 30,000 miles. This truck having a considerably higher "cool" factor will keep resale considerably higher. Yes it will lose a bit but its not going to be a 40,000$ truck anytime soon.
I have been a life long Ford fan, however RAM is starting to catch my eye, more and more. If ford does not roll out a supercharged V8 to battle the TRX, by default, Ford will be vacating the Truck Throne. A battery pack with twin turbochargers is not the answer, Ford. Hope and pray you are listening Mr. Ford! (As always, great content TFL!)
I think a hybrid truck with a supercharger would be badass, tbh. Imagine how good the throttle response would be, with the electric motor smoothing out shifts.
I've been a big Chevy guy since the 70s, so I hope this will be a wakeup call for GM to make a supercharged offroad truck, but it seems like Ram is killing the game with performance cars and trucks these days. The trailboss is mediocre compared to the Raptor and TRX.
That t rex eating the raptor has to be the cockiest thing I've ever seen, and to reveal that before ford has a chance to unveil the new raptor.... well I'm sure you just motivated there engineers a bit more 😉
So the TRX can follow a Raptor around for about an hour before it needs a fill up? Most off-roading is not high speed or on the gas, during those times the Raptor is running as a NA V6 getting 20 mpg, that is the nature of a turbo engine. When turbo is needed it will still deliver earth rotating torque at 1200 rpm, the second you don't it's a NA V6 again. That Supercharger is always running it's driven by the crankshaft, so that engine is always sucking down gas.
@Jonathan Spier The I-Rex was a superior to the T-Rex, I think that's overachieving, yeah T-Rex did help out but one of the raptors knocked near the lake so the lake dino(i don't know what it was) could take the I-rex out
@Jonathan Spier in Jurassic World (fourth movie), the raptor (Blue) and the T-rex team up to take down the Indominus rex which is ultimately killed by the mosasaurs. Wouldn't it be cool if Chevy comes out with a off road truck called Indominus?
Just in time for the competition to come out with their next gen truck and claim the number one spot. Dodge just had to release the truck now so that way they could lead for a bit, had they released it a year later, the new raptor would be out and they'd not be the leader.
What competition? Lol. The raptor is a focus with a lift kit and the “trail boss” is pretty much a styling package. This thing is what the raptor wants to be when it grows up.
Yeah, idk. I don’t really consider the TRX a “super truck”. To me a super truck is a street truck. The srt10 is a (borderline) super truck. If they made one now, it would be a super truck. But compared to the competition, it’s not that fast in today’s new vehicle market. But they do need to make a hellcat ram. 🔥🔥
@@RealEyezRealLiez I dont understand the obsession with red tow hooks anyway. If you don't know what (or where) they are, you have no business being in a "position" needing or using them. Personally I think all the glaring red ones (except on red trucks, then they look slick) are like the "bull balls".......posture with no pump.
I am a lifelong Ford man. I've always loved the Raptors but I need an F250 for towing a 5th wheel and other large trailers. I am honestly seriously impressed by this truck. Ford is going to have to step up their game. Competition is a good thing. If I was in the market for a half ton truck right now I would be all over the TRX!
I seriously cannot wait to see this thing do some real off-roading. I would really like to know how well it does on trails since it is a REALLY wide truck. Make it happen TFL crew! Legitimately, no one else is going to do it so it is up to you!
Issaq Al-Ahmed if I had this truck the last place I would take it is off road. I would de-badge it and race unsuspecting millennials who are driving their dads Audi and make them look silly
How is this the world's "first super truck?" Weren't the F150 Lightning, Ram SRT10, GMC Syclone (and others I may have missed) considered super trucks during their eras?
@@scooterbobscout that Shelby wasn’t built by ford same goes for the roush nitemare & stage 3 trucks also the Yenko 800hp Silverados / Joe Gibbs Silverado etc ford only made the Lightning’s that’s about it
@@taygear25 no it wasn’t it was sent to Shelby to get built if it was so it would’ve been on their website and addressed as ford like the mustangs etc when they built those the truck is just a conversion they send regular cabs and crew cabs to be built
Cost of ownership is a reality. The mpg the 3.5 TT delivers factored into my decision to abandon a strategy of having a car and a truck and simply buy a crew cab truck. My old truck would get 15 mpg on a good day this one will get 25 mpg if I'm driving state road or limit it to 65, if I drive 75 it'll still average 22+. Heck the 3.5 TT will get 13 pulling my 6000 lb boat, that is what my old truck averaged, pulling at boat it was lucky to see 10.
@fox mulder I went to a Raptor from a 350Z and the size difference in most places is fine. That said, that will definitely be the exact list of complaints in a youtuber's video. I think your title is off though. It'll be, "I'm selling my TRX after 6 months, here's why."
I 100% agree with you and I also have never had an issue. However....if a feature like this will: speed up my boat launching because there is no longer 13 idiots blocking the dock with sideways trailers...then I support it fully.
Back when a cable was necessary to actuate the transmission a console shifter made sense, but now it just takes-up a lot of real estate that could otherwise be used for more practical purposes. Honestly, I’d love to get rid of the console shifter in my truck (F150).
I’d rather have the six-person seating afforded by a bench seat. I see consoles as a waste of space. I’ve only had one pickup with a console, way back in the days of my 2008 Tundra.
@@settledontheprairie5524 If you are a skinny person a bench seat works fine. (or fine for big people if only 2 are using it) I have done the bench seat thing with 3 using it. It is not what I call ideal for trips more than 20 minutes at a time. lol (and yes we were all skinny back then and it was a column shifter)
i was thinking about the muscle trucks being the first supertruck like the RAM SRT10, shelby dakota, lighting SVT, syclone, 454 SS and el camino SS, Xrunner.
It is so awesome that you started your own business, and your son shares your passion and gets to work along side you. I will be lucky to have that in my life one day with my kids.
Needs 3.0 or larger to get competitive. It’s definitely an amazing starting point for anyone considering these type of trucks need a lot of power and this thing already comes with all the power.
@@ArizonaGunsDave I own a 2015 RAM 2500 HD w a Cummins. 82K miles. Ive only had to change the tires and oil. It will still pull you house off of its foundation without blinking. RAM is just fine. You probably think the New York Times is unbiased too, lol. Every one of those rags and ' awards ' is a paid advertisement and consumer reports are steered the way whoever wants them to go. You're telling me to not believe my lying eyes and but rather some piece of paper? No thanks. A TRX will be in my garage soon. I guess you can cry again then lol.
@@clm652 first of all I don't read a New York times so I'm not sure what that comment has to do with what I said (I'm a conservative Army vet) as far as you pulling me or pulling my house off its foundation or whatever you stated, okay and? I already stated that American trucks are more powerful when they're working so tell me something I don't know. 82,000 miles? Call me when you have 300,000 miles.
The person who is reading this comment i wish you great success health love and happiness i am from morocco have a good life for everyone here God bless United States of America ^^💟🕀
The tow rating surprised me because even though they beef up the frames on off road rigs like the Raptor, the softer sprung suspensions usually reduce the towing capacity a lot more than this. With all the available HP and Torque, people sometimes expect monster towing numbers, but don't take into consideration that this is built more for high flying, off the line / flat out speed than anything else. It's a beautiful package; a theme park thrill ride on four wheels. I only wish that I could ford the price of admission.
I still don’t think this beats the Raptor but props to FCA/Ram for making competition for the Raptor. Competition breeds innovation which then turns into success.
Man oh man oh man! Great job with the chassis overview! I am blown away at the super beefy build under this truck! I've only seen Bilsteins and and such overbuilt framing on custom builds. It's crazy but some manufacturers still use the three sided frame rather than secure it with a full box frame.
It’s unfortunate that we broke folk will never get to enjoy one of these brand new... I make $70k a year and I have a mortgage with 3 kids - my income is decent but I ain’t gonna be owning an $85k vehicle - I’m lucky to afford something around $20k-$25k currently - it’s so far from reality for someone like me It’s an amazingly awesome truck but I’ll never live it - I’ll just continue to dream it....
Man, Dodge is the car manufacturer that lets their kids come up with the ideas for the next vehicle. Lol. I just imagine every year they say “make it faster” or “make it cooler” or “make it louder”. I’m not a dodge guy at all. But I respect them making the vehicles people dream of.
I don’t see the TRX holding up to the hype. Water has to go through the air filter to be drained out - Failure. Rock rail is too small for avg American mans foot. My boot would not fit in the tailgate step (So it’s pointless). All time 4wd - reminds me of a AWD Equinox. How long will the TRX last? Knowing first hand the reliability of Ram, I just don’t see it lasting. The truck will be a beast, should be able to keep up with tune only ecoboost - (Around 4.2s 0-60), a fun choice for a lease, but I wouldn’t buy one. Ford will answer to this TRX, with a more reliable, more capable, more powerful , proven vehicle. GT500 Raptor anyone? TRX does look good tho. For the price that these will be selling for, I’d rather have a hellcat - and a regular truck (For work). Maybe I’m wrong, my honest opinion.
@@danielvisintainer3352 chill Daniel it barely came out of the factory. We do not know yet. I'm just mentioning in my original post about the sign/stamp of a t-rex eating a raptor.
Will be interested in seeing how the sales numbers vs. the Ford Raptor will be. Everyone that will rush to buy this from a stealership err dealership, be prepared to get ripped off!
Yep if ya want it first you will pay for it. But i still think the raptor will sell more and I'm a GM fanboy, gm missed out big on that one its almost to late for them to even put out a competitor.
the raptor is $24k less than this. so they are technically in the same class, but vastly different prices and power. so the raptor is more affordable and performs pretty well.
I’m so glad you guys actually showed that the trx is much more than a rebel with a hell cat engine people don’t seem to understand that the suspension is completely different and make it handle way better in the dirt than the rebel or any other ram on the market
I’ve watched almost every video you guys have put out and never knew Tommy was your son.... but now I realize he kinda looks like you....thanks for your videos guys....
This is awesome! Way to go Ram! I'm a Ford guy, but this is where Ram excels and Ford falls flat on it's face. Ram is continuing on the American V8 heritage, and Ford is frivolously tossing it away.
But if we are going to be honest, there is going to be very few people going offroad with this really expensive, heavy and big truck. We will see how many will and if the truck is any good offroad
Not to mention a fully tricked out Raptor is still like 5k less than the base, you get 200 more pounds of towing and the same basic top speed. Really this is lets put as much power in a truck as possible but govern it so its a faster off the line than a raptor but the same truck for 15k more base. These things are just stupid unless you have to own something that say SRT and if your gonna spend that much why not buy a Shelby F150 and get something that is faster than both of them.
Hey Brother that's after they pay a 100 grand + because you know the dealer is going to be asking that for the first batch and they'll be some idiot out there running it through the mud just because he can
I don't get the infatuation with these big desert runner trucks. They are too big to use off road in the way most people go off road, and they suck as everyday pickups. I guess they look cool.
Love every single TFL channel, you guys are basically 30% of my subscription yt page, that said, Roman is the worst cameraman ever! LOL... He's better as anchorman. Love you all, boys! These guys work like beasts.
Great specs...but the upper shock mounts don't look very sturdy. ...but I guess not that critical in Austin texas or Calabasas California where most of these will live.🤠
@@cjgordon22 I'd say my judgement comes from experiences 2016 and down. Dodges can't withstand any abuse, they don't have reliable designs, and they use cheap materials to save money. I have always thought that they look good assthetic wise. I do wonder if they put more effort into making their higher end cars (like the challenger) more quality built.
@@Isaac-xg3zc I own a 2018 challenger rt shaker with a 6spd and I've put 52000km with no real issues other then a bad radio screen. It's been great and for what it is it's not bad on gas
@2:48 it’s a single screw and a wiper. When he spun it backwards you can see the 3 lobed wiper spins 66% faster than the 5 bladed screw. The harmonic is what make the screws whine so much more than a Roots type blower
Winch? Get a Power Wagon where it is standard. It HAS power steps as an option(as well as flat-bottom offroad steps) . And the exhaust is 3" from the cats back. That's pretty solid for a factory setup.
This is going to be fun guys! Roman you MUST go on a Raptor run in the spring to compare apples to apples. I'd love to see how this thing holds up, I traded in my Rebel for a Raptor because it was such a disappointment. Competition always makes the segment better and this can't come at a better time.
I get 60 mpg already in my hybrid, my other car gets GPM instead. I said 8 since like new GT500 mustangs are getting like 9 mpg real world its really bad for them.
If the term SUPER is to be added to trucks it should follow the same conventions as when applied to SUPER cars. One of those criteria commonly used is that there not be a "down model" variant. This is why the Jag F type R is not considered a Super Car. Sincerly, Pedantic
Good to see some in person up close and real hands on unveiling events again from TFL. :) And such an interesting content to break back into that video segment.
lol “118mph! That is fast for a pickup truck” Guys I realize that you’ve gotta act really blown away at new specs for filming purposes but cmon Roman... lol 😂
Needs cab lights on the roof. I agree with Tommy, those rock rail steps seem they could be a bit more functional as well. Over all seems like a very cool pickup.
If so not only did it take dodge or fiat who ever owns Chrysler now over 10 years to copy the Raptor. They couldn’t be original with the name. It’s a cool truck tho
Over the last two weeks I have seen 2 TRX's, a wide body Charger, and a Gladiator testing around Pueblo, Colorado. This has been between midnight and 4am. I tried to get good pics but unfortunately was unable to.
Beautiful beast of a truck love the looks and that Hellcat engine is sweet... hell on wheels!!...RAM done one heck of a job on this truck but for $150k cdn no thanks!!!....it's sad they have to put this truck at such a high price I'd be all in for a fully loaded TRX at $90k but like I said $150k they can keep it.
@@wheeln24-79 Yeah I know that 🙄.....I was replying to Robert's comment of the $71K (what Tommy stated in the video was the starting price...which was in American dollars!).
