The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro Is A Crazy Affordable Electric Work Truck 

Hey guys! We wanted to get this video up quick for you but this a full tour of the 2022 Lightning Pro and even with options, came to about $45k before the $7,500 tax credit. We will be uploading a separate driving video and walk around with a Lariat trim on 5/11 at 6am EST so come back then for full driving impressions!

We live in a time where $40000 is called crazy affordable. That's what's crazy to me. Great value for sure, but the normal folk can't still afford a 40k payment, you are looking at $800 with 10k down.

This truck does not cost $45,000. More like $55,000 - $60,000 after the dealership asks you to touch the floor with both hands so that they can ram you with some dealer markup.

I'm not fancy or picky. This rig would work just fine for me. This is the future right in front of our eyes. Great job, Ford!

I thoroughly appreciate the fact it just looks like a normal truck. Yes, electric vehicles are the future. But that doesn't mean I want to drive a funky-looking spaceship.

It's a work truck so all the fancy materials, soft touch, etc. are missing. Nothing to be disappointed about.

Thanks for showing the base model, many are showing the $90k plus Platinum version which is more than 2x the price of the base model. Looks really good for the $$! Great review!

I'm sure they will get better with time. Once they get 500 - 600 miles range that will be a game changer.

This "base" model is better and more luxurious than the luxury versions of trucks 10-12 years ago. Great video, well done!

After the $30k “Market Adjustment” it becomes a $75k truck.

Cars used to sell for like 15-20k. Now 40k is considered “insanely affordable.”

The antenna works as a warning in Parkimg structures to see how low the concrete beams are, If the antenna scrapes you’re close to scraping the top of your roof

This review made me want the Pro model… 45k is a steal for a 4 door crew cab with 450+ hp. May have to keep an eye out for a future reservation. Thanks for this!

parts like the missing light bars and 12 inch screen look far better to me. the screen being integrated and not shooting out in your face is a huge plus for design

The antenna acts as a clearance check because it’s just about 2-3 above the roof so when you go into a garage and it starts to hit you know your truck is getting close to not fitting.

600 bucks for a spray in bed liner is nuts. I got mine done for 200 over a year ago and it's holding up great

This truck seems like something I can get into. For me personally, I would like an all EV Maverick even more.

I have been driving my 2001 F250 7.3 lariat for 15 years now and it is the BEST vehicle I have eve owned but it is now time to move along with the times. I take delivery on my new Pro in Janruary and am very excited (also a wee bit nervous). It is going to make a lot of waves among friends going from the monster diesel to the silent future;) Embrace the technology!!!!

Ford still uses whip antennas because they work better. Trucks tend to be used in more remote areas. Nice overview, I like how you didn't dwell on the cost cutting. I like what Ford did here. There's too much unneeded stuff on most trucks today.

Very good to see the base version still has reliable and ergonomically sound knobs and buttons. The Lightning is superior to all other electric trucks in this respect.

This truck will be a game changer if Ford can produce enough units and their dealers don’t mark the hell out of it

Lay off of the am/fm antenna delete idea. For a leisurely vehicle, I never touch the am/fm dial. But for a work truck, am/fm is all I listen to.

I actually like the look of the smaller screen and no light bar more than the other trims.

I'm a builder and haven't bought a Ford since my 97 F-350 turbo diesel. I didn't like the interior design of them or the feel going down the road and much preferred the Nissan Titan. However, I really like the layout of this basic model. I get super sweaty and touch screens can't recognize my finger touch lol. I like the large buttons and knobs (reasons I like the Titan). Can't wait to switch to electric!

I hadn't anticipated that secure frunk. Every month yet another Nextdoor post states "someone stole my tools from my truck!". A frunk would seem to be a great place for the more expensive tools.

The antenna is actually super helpful when you’re in low parking garages.

I own a 2021 Hybrid F150 Lariat and what made me decide between the lightning and hybrid was range. I get 645 on 30 gallons. 300 miles on a lightning was a deal buster for me. Tesla has at least 512 that I would have bought in the Ford.

It literally IS $41769 for the base model including destination. I just did a build on Ford's website. Even in the base trim, It's very, VERY well-equipped. Together with the tax credit (Tesla ran out of their allocation, but Ford still has tons), it's the best bang for the buck. Impressed!!

for a base truck, it's really well equipped! once in a while, ford really shows who they are... the revolutionist of the mass market, as they always have been This will certainly draw more people to electric vehicles, as the model T drew the masses towards the automobile.

I don't mind the radio antenna. A cheap, effective way to visually see and hear if your roof is gonna scratch a low clearance parking garage. The antenna bends before you hit your roof.

Here's the problem, you can't order the pro trim & Ford didn't intend to sell a lot of them in the 1st place. I feel like tax credit or not, that's the one trim that most people would actually buy because it actually offers everything that most people would want without having to go to higher trims paying 80k and up.

Great review as always! As first day reservation holder for lightning, very excited & looking to see the driving impressions. To your comment: You need to reserve - It's going to be difficult getting one on the dealer lots: Reservations are currently closed to my knowledge due to the overwhelming reservations. I am still very skeptical on getting into the MY23 wave. Hope ford gets rid of the dealership model for EVs soon!

Best thing about Ford trucks is that they offer the vinyl flooring. So much better than carpet especially if you have kids that seemingly enjoy spilling shit everywhere.

Always been a huge Ford truck fan. You just can't go wrong w/a Ranger, F150, F250 etc. Best in class. Best tech. Best features. Outstanding reliability & built to last! *Can't be best selling 44yrs straight if not really good* .

Wow I love it. This Base model is good enough for me especially in that color.

Sofian Ford went with an original antenna because they done a study and most users use FM radio in the F150 so they gave it that antenna because it provides better reception for AM/FM.

I am not a truck person but this is the biggest steal of the century for an electric truck even with the range. This is coming from a Tesla owner. It offers way too many features for the $40,000 price and I really like that landscape 12 inch screen better than the vertical one.

Been telling people that between the F-150 Lighting and the eTransit, Ford is going to revolutionize the commercial EV market. With the two models, it's now more efficient for companies to switch over to EV's, particularly in big cities, where range isn't really an issue because they won't be driving more than 100-150 miles a day while doing jobs/deliveries, and the vehicles can charge back up at company-owned charging stations overnight every night. It's also hugely beneficial because it allows for better fleet management and reduces cost. With these EVs, it cuts down on maintenance costs because there's no engine to service (so, no oil changes and fewer mechanical breakdowns), no fuel cards to hand out or added fuel costs to manage, eliminates fuel costs and wasted gas from engine idle time while doing deliveries, and also if enough companies get onboard, it could significantly reduce emissions. Particularly in cities like Los Angeles that have an air pollution problem. I think the only thing Ford needs to do is build up their charging network by striking deals with large grocery chains like Walmart, Target, Kroger, Albertson's, Walgreens, 7-Eleven, and so on, and get them to create designated areas (preferably in front of the stores) that allow people to charge up while they shop/run errands. They also should heavily invest in getting companies to adopt their charging system at their company facilities. If they can do that, they can win the EV market.

For people who do not understand antenna theory, the fm radio antenna is resonate on the fm band approx 31 -33 inches long quarter wave. The length of an antenna is a law of physics if you want it to actually work. Those shark fins and little stubby antennas have poor gain.

I'm amazed by its features for a base model. I'd still prefer the physical buttons and knobs than the full touch screen controls. The 12 inch infotainment screen is enough to me. I love the interior of it for a contractor's truck. I think it can still be a daily driver for personal errands. I'd pick this one over Tesla (of late).

This is an amazing value. I didn't think you can option the 9.6 kw pro generator on this model. That's awesome.

With that plastic grill its handy to have that trunk just behind it. That way when you smack a deer at 55 mph he loads himself lol

It doesn't matter how much it costs. Ford will not even take your order for one. From Ford's own website: "Due to high demand, the current model year is no longer available for retail order. Contact your dealer for more information"

Great review. Have been watching the Redline reviews for years and I must say that they are the best and most concise.

The frosted plastic daytime running lights look so incredibly cheap and Fisher Price. Otherwise, this truck looks incredible. Great job, Ford!

The base 12" touchscreen with NORMAL BUTTONS on the bottom is the best feature IMO. The portrait tablet is horrendous and laggy and the AC control are baked in it (which is terrible)

My cordless screwgun would last longer than this thing. "Wait I gotta charge my truck again!"

It's a no-frills work truck. Good on Ford for making it affordable. Ford knows its bread and butter.

It’s Genius an electric vehicle that we can relate to… It has normal door handles and appears to be like a normal truck… It is the first electric vehicle I would consider owning

Never been a fan of the f150 but never driven one to judge....for the price they look nice.

Been waiting for this and cannot wait for the next part! I’ve been so curious of the Pro because of the price point for an electric truck! Would personally like an “electric Maverick” for actual usability where I live in!

I am not on board with the whole EV thing right now, however, the increased storage and increased carrying as a result is defiantly a big plus in the right direction.
