Happy Weds to everyone! Hope you all are having a fantastic week! Don't forget if you want to submit your entry to potentially win a BMW M2 CS and support a great cause go to www.omaze.com/RRBMWM2. We've been waiting all year to drive this new GV70 and it certainly didn't disappoint. When Genesis releases an all-electric version of this car, you better believe its going to challenge the Tesla Model Y head on. Its our new favorite pick for now until we drive the upcoming Lexus NX next month!
@Redline Reviews, I can sum up the new 2022 Lexus NX for you. I’m no journalist but I can confidently say that the NX that no ones even driven yet is already outclassed. Why? Because the nx is just a rav4, which in itself, is just a Toyota, and being a Toyota means it’s automatically outclassed in every comparison metric. Name one Toyota or Lexus product that has ever proclaimed or currently proclaims the title “benchmark” in any segment. Compact sedan benchmark? Nope Midsize sedan benchmark? nope Compact cuv benchmark? Nope 3 row suv benchmark? nope Minivan benchmark? Nope Pickup truck benchmark? Nope Luxury SUV benchmark?; nope Subcompact benchmark? Nope Luxury sedan benchmark? Nope The answer to this question is that you can’t name one because it doesn’t exist 😆. The nx is front wheel drive, because it’s just a rav4. That automatically puts it at a disadvantage vs others. It doesn’t have a torque vectoring AWD that’s any better than SH AWD. It doesn’t have a fast shifting transmission like Honda’s 10 speed or the ZF 8 speed. It doesn’t have a double wishbone front suspension like other players. The AWD system won’t make the back end step out. It’s not gonna have any sort of rear bias. And the power trains being offered, while there are quite a few, are just nothing short of an utter disappointment: 2.5L I4 203hp (8.2 seconds) 2.4L Turbo I4 275hp (6.8 seconds) 2.5L I4 hybrid 240hp (7.3 seconds) 2.5L I4 PHEV 300hp (6 seconds) The performance Lexus quotes clearly shows that It still cannot compete in this segment. The new turbo sounds like it is good power on paper, but so is a cheaper Mazda CX-5 turbo or even a Hyundai Santa Fe / Kia Sorento turbo… the CX5 and Everyone else will run circles around the nx all day. Now are the nx hybrids and PHEVs fuel efficient? Without question yes. Will this be reliable? Also unequivocally yes. But those things are not really important here for a luxury brand especially when you spend 50-60K. If you want fuel economy and reliability, go buy a Prius, RAV4, Camry, or corolla for that. Even if you somehow value a luxury brand with fuel efficiency and reliability, you have to give up way too much in many areas. You miss out on the key aspects of a luxury cuv with the nx. Whereas with the other competitors, you don’t really give up anything. Compared to the competition like the cx5 turbo, Rdx, gv70, x3, glc, xc60, q5, all of them absolutely destroy the new nx in just about every category shown below. no ifs ands buts maybes ors what-ifs: Exterior design Interior design Materials quality Fit and finish Luxury Technology Handling Performance Comfort Braking suspension polish Chassis dynamics weight balance The nx isn’t even going to score high or even above average in any of these categories because they know they can’t. The NX is not well rounded and never will be. Or as Alex on autos would say, “the Honda Accord of luxury cuvs”. So there literally is no compelling reason to choose an NX over the other options. Heck even the new Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage and the new Honda CRV are honestly more exciting products than the new NX. So bottom line, prepare to be disappointed with the new Lexus NX. The gv70 is what I call “the true new Lexus NX”. The gv70 is still better than the new nx and I can bet 100% that the NX is not gonna be a luxury cuv benchmark because Toyota and Lexus know that they are incapable of such task. So, Redline Reviews, I honestly wouldn’t even bother wasting your hard earned time with the new 2022 Lexus NX. If you’re given the opportunity to drive the new NX, I’d just completely pass on it
@@competitiveautomotive5457 agreed. My v6 Camry will smoke any new nx lol. Also, you sound like a journalist the way you use those terms like double wishbone front suspension, fast shifting transmission or torque vectoring AWD I feel like the only Toyota’s that I consider competitive are the v6 Camry, is500, rc f, lc500, Mirai, and the gx460. All other Toyota Lexus products are just laughable IMO
@@naveenthemachine thank you. I just watch a lot of car videos so I gained knowledge But yeah the LX570 is good too albeit too expensive. Also I consider that Gs F, LS460 and LS600hL are also competitive items albeit they don’t exist anymore
@@competitiveautomotive5457 ah right. I forgot about those models haha. The ls460 and 600hl especially are the best Lexus sedans ever made. Even the Gs f is great because of its screaming v8 and chassis dynamics
I tried parking next to a white GV70 2.5T today to snap a picture of... Then I realized the owner was walking towards it as I was parking...add to the fact they parked the GV70 far away from all the other cars. Yes it was a bit awkward 😅🤦♂️
Things that r missing on the Lexus, I found on the Genesis. I test drove all of their cars, and the driving dynamics are overall much much better than what Lexus are currently offering rn. Except for the LC and the LS. G90 is really dated and a new gen is coming soon.
People Hyundai/Genesis has arrived and other than not having a bonkers engine with over 500hp which most people won't buy anyway these vehicles are top notch........Watching these cars get better and better is exciting honestly ....great work Sofyan as usual keep up the great work.
Not if you want the car to be reliable .......People that go to work everyday would love a fast car but not over the benefit of having a lower horsepower car that will run properly every time they turn the key
I actually would get this and pretty much any other Genesis product. They are stepping it up big-time. Their Interiors have better quality than Mazdas and Mazda's have really good quality Interiors.
If this doesn't get them the sales volume they need to get their own dealerships built, nothing will. I've seen it a few times on the road and it's gorgeous.
These cars are selling . I think Genesis aren’t putting enough cars out. Demand is higher than the supply. May be the dealership can’t handle more of these cars and also Consumers are purchasing at mark up prices.
@@MrGeezil uh, you just described the car industry as a whole. There's this little thing called a global pandemic/semiconductor chip shortage still going on.
@@theMLBfan I already know that but remember before the global shortage of chips, cars like the Kia Telluride was selling over MRSP. It’s not just shortage of chip.
@@MrGeezil The GV70 and GV80 are flying off the lots, they can't get enough of them. It's so funny that I've already seen a GV80 and a GV70 and it took forever to see a G80 on the road. For Asian luxury it is Lexus and Genesis for me. Acura is trying. Infiniti is all but dead at this point.
@@kfx3907 That doesn’t make any sense if they wish to sale the face lifted/refreshed G70 alongside these crossovers. It’s just another lazy attempt from this brand that gets a slap on the wrist simply because of what it is. Lol. Had this been anyone else it would be talked badly about and nobody would let up. Lol
@@mybro727 Many reviewers actually pointed that out in the G70 reviews because the other newer gen Genesis interior are so good but I'm not quite convinced with G70 actually, I like Stinger more, mostly the same car but cheaper, have bigger interior space and looks cooler too. Hopefully Genesis will make proper upgrade with the next gen G70. My 2 cents ...
Excellent review. Very well done. Keep up the excellent work Redline. It is nice to get an unbiased, well thought out review from someone who has driven all the major players in the class. Thanks.
The GV70 is a great looking crossover, this may be a vehicle I may consider once my warranty expires on my current vehicle. Hyundai/ Genesis has really stepped up their game. Hyundai/Genesis Htrac awd is great in snow as well.
Genesis (and Hyundai/Kia) use ventilated seats, not cooled seats. I had a previous gen G80 and it was the same way. Same as my current Accord also. My wife has a Chrysler Pacifica, which is a piece of junk, but it does have legit cooled seats and they are incredible compared to my Accord and old Genesis. Ventilated seats only pull heat/moisture away from your body rather than actually blowing cold air out through the seat perforations like real cooled seats do. It's pretty interesting if you look at the list of which brands offer ventilated vs cooled seats.
@@mattspeer01 Sir, it’s all the same. Some seat designs offer cooler air than others. Different brands give the same exact feature(s) a different name. Usually the luxury brands will offer a cooler air condition seat with more powerful motors for a more affective flow of air. Genesis just didn’t fully cross their “T” here, that’s all.
I agree. This smaller one does look more tasteful. The regular GV80.........I don't know, it just looks kinda ostentatious and odd! Certain angles of the vehicle looks good and eye catching. But it's just not a vehicle I would want at all. But I give props to Hyundai for stepping out there to try. It's a decent debut based on response from those who like it. Hyundai cars to me always felt as though they copycat from other makes. As unappealing as this SUV is to me, I can at least say it is more original than others Hyundai cars.
What a great looking vehicle! I am really impressed with the interior which, to me, looks extremely luxurious and comfortable. I also like the blue which I never thought I would say. Thanks for the in-depth review.
You're definitely one of the FEW reviewers, and maybe the ONLY big youtube channel that isn't biased, like at all. Most of them hate on the newish brand Genesis. People cannot accept new things, that's how it is in the world with everything not just cars. EDIT: I take that back, Alex on Autos is not biased AT ALL.
@@djzulumask2138 Well, Genesis sales are tripling this year over previous years, and their selling thousands more units, so they're doing something right.
@@greg.anywhere man do a quick google search and stop pulling numbers out ur ass....I like genesis, specifically this and also the g70 but they ain’t on anyone’s neck....and like I said, sales prove it...ei-numbers don’t lie...
The reason why the “cooled” seats didn’t feel all that cold is because the seats aren’t cooled, they’re ventilated. They simply blow air through the little perforations in the leather, but it’s not cooled air. It’s just the air that’s in the cabin. If the air conditioning is on its highest setting, the seats will feel much cooler. Unlike some manufacturers who truly offer cooled seats which have a cooling element for the air, Genesis only offers ventilated seats.
Hyundai is just showing out! 😁😁 This vehicle is so swanky and well finished, it looks like it could easily share space on the showroom floor with a Bentley or a Range Rover. Incredible the accomplishments and accolades Hyundai has earned in such a short period of time. I love the balls and guts Hyundai is displaying these days. Go Hyundai!!!
@@ajevthetruthisthetruthnotc8390… They certainly look great sat on the hard shoulder of motorways or sound absolutely amazing squeaking and rattling back to dealerships😉😉
Saw G80 and GV80 in person at a parking lot for the first time and I must say the Genesis vehicles look much, much better in person than the videos/photos. GV70 is probably no exception.
I tested one with the matte white paint finish and the blue interior and it was a perfect ride and the power made you just felt like a kid again. I just wish the G70 had the same interior as the GV70 because I test drove that one and it did do better on a winding loop off ramp I tested it on at high speed.
@@kfx3907 I love the current G70 but I hope the next G70 grows to about the size of a K5 or Sonata because the G80 is already bigger than an Avalon and the current G70 is awfully cramped.
It does have automatic lane change. You have to turn it on. The icon looks like two lanes with arrows up by the tach. Your finger tips have to be touching the wheel. When it knows it's on the highway and all drivers assistance systems on, I've had mine go for over 15 miles on its own. Just make sure your eyes are viable to the guages
I have seen a number of reviews on this vehicle and each has struggled to find flaws....according to multiple reviews this car gets a gold star. Thanks for your review I always enjoy them.
One thing I found out to check for is the plastic creaking of the dash and center console area. I was watching a video where these guys were saying that mercs feel cheap because of the creaky dash. I checked my 2014 kia, and there's no creaking. I still get the tech, and high end stuff, plus a better built car that has only had 2 minor issues, both were under the 5 year warranty.
Well I don’t blame ya. Lexus needs to catch up. Aside from reliability Lexus are behind in all the segments. If you check car and driver website for the rankings of best SUV Lexus RX350 ranks 20th whiles GV70 is 5th. The RX is outdated.
@@NinoNlkkl .....Rip Off...Yes ........piece of crap .....No.......It suffers from German Unnecessary over engineering and they are cutting corners VW, Audi and Porsche alike......but leaps and bounds in front this Genesis.....
In love! 🤩🤩 My only complain lol which is nitpicking is the beeping of the infotainment, it’s the same as my Kia Forte. Yes you can turn it off but Audi and other brands have these cool sound affects almost that make it sound more premium, but over all this is a solid winner!!
@@FLAKKU03 actually, we currently own 2006 Hyundai Tucson (Gv70 will replace), 2012 Hyundai Azera and my 2019 Genesis G70 . We did have a fourth, 2007 Hyundai Accent, but we sold it to our oldest son after purchasing the Genesis G70 😁😀😁 Hyundai/Genesis make great vehicles. 😁😀😄😎😎😎
@@FLAKKU03 Sounds like a smart man, unlike you and whatever is in your garage. Probably some German car lifted on jacks because it is undriveable and falling apart.
@@mattspeer01 you are "almost" smart. Currently I drive 2019 VW Passat, but it's my business car. And I said "almost" because no any issue with the car so far, so sorry, but you're wrong (for your information: this is European Passat, not the creepy American version). Maybe this will be strange for you but my wife drives 2008 Hyundai Getz. It's like a small tank on wheels. Very simple car made by Hyundai in India.
The wisest thing that should be on every wise individual's list is to invest in different stream of income and don't depend on the government to bring in money especially now the pandemic is hitting the economy
Agreed lol. WTF was genesis thinking. I've switched from JDM to KDM and the GV60 just aint it AT ALL. EVERY other Hyundai/kia/genesis I'm fine with. EVEN THE SOUL!!
Genesis dose have Highway hands free driving assist tho, as well as the auto lane change function. At least in Canada we gets it, I work for Genesis 😂 on Genesis, the safety package is call ADAS , and most of the features come standard too (in Canada)
One would wonder how Genesis would be able to top its own game for the next generation/all-new refresh models… Bravo to Genesis designers and engineers!
I got to shut in one at the dealership and man was it nice. Very well put together and well executed. I love how original the design is and it has carved its own niche out in this crazy suv world. I truly wish I could afford one
We bought one 2 weeks ago. Absolutely love it. We got the 4 cylinder turbo and it’s plenty of power. The ride is quiet and very smooth. Stereo is great. We were shopping Macan, q5, x3 . This is way cheaper and the interior is best in class by far.
Everyone I see listed in the D.C are are selling for 60k, which is GV80 pricing at this point. Going to wait for this chip shortage to end, before I left look for one. Glad you're enjoying it, congrats!
@Угон Харлеев the new nx interior is fugly. Exterior didn’t change much and is still a good looking car. But the gv70 is strides above the nx. And this is from someone who loves the nx.
@Угон Харлеев it does. That 14 inch screen that’s available on the nx is enticing. But there’s more than just a large screen. The interior design materials quality fit and finish luxury technology are all very important. The gv70 interior is just better in every way Also the nx350 performance is laughable. 275hp and 317lb ft sounds good on paper but unfortunately a cheaper Mazda CX-5 has the same power levels at a lower price and has a nicer interior and handles way better and it’ll eat the nx350 easily. Plus Lexus said it’ll go to 60 in 6.9 seconds Even the most powerful nx is still laughable. A rav4 prime or my v6 Camry performance wise will smoke any new nx and get better fuel efficiency
@Угон Харлеев 0-60 for the new nx is just 6.8 seconds. We already know that. They aren’t going to underrate their engines like the Germans do. On paper it’s not bad but the Mazda CX-5 will be faster have a better transmission, and handle better. Same goes for the Kia Sorento turbo or the Hyundai Santa Fe turbo. But I would just not get the new NX turbo. The only reason I would say otherwise is if it offers a unique power train, such as the v6 out of the Camry or Highlander.
I just bought a 2.5t in Barossa Burgundy. The 3.5t is intriguing but price was a bit much- especially given that there aren’t many incentives right now. I did get it for a bit below MSRP and got a reasonable interest rate. I think the 2.5T is very adequate in perf for most. Think I could pull sub 6 0-60 in right conditions.
My mom has a blue gv70 2.5t select. While she was on vacation, a passerby said very loudly that's a bentley bentayga . She heard him and didn't correct him. She also gets compliments on how beautiful it is.
Another win for Genesis. Genuine, authentic, original, attractive and, I believe, reliable. On a similar note, Redline Reviews is relentless in producing excellent reviews no matter the vehicle. Cheers
I am a car enthusiast and have been skeptical of Hyundai/Genesis for many many years but this car and your video has really impressed me. Only the most exciting cars put a smile on my face but when you launched it yes it did it! I am very impressed and will put this on my list of next cars to buy. I just wish they had a plug-in hybrid version ( with the the same nice-sounding engine).
Thanks for another thorough review. I like the GV70. Apropos of many infotainment screens today, on a map screen, what do I get from having more width? I'm moving forward, not sideways.
I'm with you. The GV80 is too much in person, it looks like a car that someone took to a body shop and had them "Make it look like a Bentley". It's too over the top in my opinion.
@@kiwan5425 decades? Lol he started at Kia in 2006. What’s your argument with Donckerwolke? He was with VW AG and went to Kia Hyundai in 2015. That’s hardly decades ago and if you don’t see German design in that Korean brand, you’re on something. I get that you’re the type to hate to admit that a German auto designer helped revive that trash company but your feelings don’t matter. It reeks of their (schreyer & donckerwolke) euro designs.
Sofyan's video is another in a long line of excellent reviews for this vehicle. While currently driving a manual G70, I was looking forward to getting this crossover in 2022. Unfortunately, my Hyundai's dealer's service is proving to be abysmal and I'll be looking elsewhere for a new vehicle when the time comes. Genesis needs their own dealer network.
I own a 2022 G80 Advance. I absolutely love it. I have owned many vehicles including S and E Classes. I have to say, this is the best car I have ever owned. The car also can drive itself on the highways. You do have to tap the wheel to keep it going. It makes my drive easier. Plus it does switch lanes if you have it in highway drive. You tap the turn signal level which ane you want to go in. It will make the change, keep you centered and turn off the signal. Absolutely great car.
