I recently read that dedicated buttons are safer than just the screen. And anyone who used to drive older vehicles knows this, because over time, you don’t even have to look when you go for a button, muscle memory, you find it every time. Not so with a screen, you have to look..

The Tacoma is nothing but a truck it's not fancy it's not fast it's not super luxurious but it's reliable & for me it drives perfectly fine I wanted one for years & finally got one I bought a 19 used TRD off-road with 17,00mi in Barcelona red with the 6 ft bed it fits in my garage, easy to drive & perfect for work. It's got a few features that are nice the adaptive cruise control + Lane departure. It doesn't have all the goofy shit you don't need. I dig it. ⛽ Mileage sucks tho

I actually just bought one three weeks ago. I thank you for the review! You made me feel more confident in my purchase! The place I got mine from was only concerned about selling it to me, I did not get any support after the purchase, but found a dealership that took me on and is helping me with my new truck. Thanks for the vid, its much appreciated!

20024 here. Just bought my preowned TRD 4x4 offroad with 10 k miles. Traded in my 2006 TRD Prerunner wit 350 k miles. The motor was still strong. Love the Simple Design of Toyota. Lovethe reliability. Less Electronic fuckery is hood, IMHO. I am an Avionics tech and I can tell you that the electronics are almost always the failure point in an electro mechanical system. Honestly, I would prefer a fully mechanical 4x4 engagement system, but those days are long gone. Loving my teuck so far though and I appreciate your videos....

This was a great informative video Brian! I would prefer the softer suspension. The utilitarian design would work just fine for me! I would prefer an upgraded sound system. I’ve always liked a sunroof however on a pickup like this it wouldn’t be absolutely necessary. The short bed option is preferable to me. I’m not so sure I would be that keen on the future TNGA platform of future Tacoma models! I mean this is the kind of detailed information videos I like to see! Yessir, you knocked this one out of the ballpark! I am honestly grateful to have found your channel! Have a great rest of your week Brian! Definitely! Mark in Iowa.

I have a 2014 TDR Off-road 4.0 5 speed a/t purchased new in 2014 and love it. The tech is really outdated to todays standards, no Apple play ect but not a big deal. I haven’t looked at new ones in a few. Toyota has really changed a lot of the 4x4 options. Nice to see. My only minor gripe with my 4.0 is gas mileage. Avg around 16-18 mpg, but it’s a truck and I knew it would be great anyway. Nice to see the 3.5 with AI has corrected that some. Great vid.

Yes I agree the Territory are much better than the previous tire that came on the TRD OR. Yesterday (27 Jan 2024) just bought a 2023 TRD OR Access Cab since the ‘24 returns to the Xtra Cab style. I like the Access Door picked it up with 8 miles. I am going to tint it and ceramic coat inside and out. My Salesman gave me the Overlays. I also have the basic Off Road, first time I bought a vehicle with no options. I like that the spokes on my steering wheel are flat dark gray.

Thanks for your video, very professional and detailed. I am a 6ft 1" height guy and the smaller trucks are too cramped, seat too low to the floor. I would also think people should show the crash test scores when buying a vehicle, insurance costs, etc. Safety in a crash is probably pretty good on newer vehicles. I heard the naturally aspirated V6 is going away for 2023. 4 banger with turbo in its place, is thst true??? You did an awesome review, thanks again. Good choice in a quality truck purchase.

Thank you for watching. And thank you for the kind words. No definite yet on the 2.4T but I suspect it’s coming because Highlander got it and Tacoma has the 2GR-FKS that the Highlander lost. I was getting ready to take the plunge when I found out that my local dealer is one of those who are gouging with "Market Adjustment" pricing. It basically pushed me out of the market. I have no interest in rewarding price gougers so have decied not to purchase. Was curious if anyone in the comments had to deal with this and if it disuaded you like me. Happy trucking and thanks!

The main problem as to why I won’t upgrade my 2019 Tacoma is the payload! They need to update Payload by about 500 pounds for me to even bother upgrading!
@crusherman96
@crusherman96 Год назад
You can just upgrade the suspension for much cheaper than a new truck will cost you. You'll probably need a bigger truck though. Also, many people, including myself, have put more weight in the back than the Tacoma is rated for with no issues. Your results may vary.
@benjones8977
@benjones8977 Год назад
@@crusherman96 I like The smaller size of the Tacoma! I already upgraded the tires for heavier loads. I put airbags in the back suspension. I have 1000 pound camper in the back of my Trd, but when you add a couple of passengers and stuff to put in the truck I’m way overweight. I like the size of this Tacoma because it’ll go on trails easier than a full-size truck. The Toyota Tacoma is way behind in Payload than every other manufacture on the market!

Looking under the hood the 3.5 looks even more serviceable than the 4.0. I have heard the Lexus models tend to get the new engines and technology for a number of reasons. First their buyers are going to expect it. These buyers generally don’t keep their vehicles as long, so if there are issues they aren’t going to keep them that long to create a bad reputation. And finally it is a smaller group of buyers to get new engines and equipment sorted out without creating a recall problem with a 240K+ of yearly Tacoma production. Toyota as we know is very conservative and likes to make small careful incremental changes. Still there are risks to new vehicles and vehicle parts, so no matter how much you test them they have to be used in the real world to really know how they will hold up.

When I noticed that the rear factory mat is one long piece I said: cool! But then, you have to experience trying to remove something to clean/maintain, to see if its really a cool thing to have. It is not. It didn't take long to realize that the one-piece mat is a b**ch to remove. You actually have to vacuum it first or all the dirt will fall on the black carpet underneath. I like to shake off my mats everytime I see a spec of dust on them (lol!), and not been able to easily remove my rear mat is agravating. I guess at some point I will cut the mat in half with a knife and problem solved. Another thing I don't like about my Tacoma interior is the oval ring around the loops that you pull to tilt down the backrests. The ring and cloth get pulled up along with the loop. It feels shabby and Ford-like. I think Toyota dropped the ball here. Not too worried about it, but... The last thing I don't like is the sound the door makes when closing. Again, very unlike Toyota. Reminded me of my friend's old Ford Explorer; an ugly "thump", instead of that crisp, nice, high quality Toyota "creack" of my old 2nd-Gen. Is Toyota using cheap plastic parts in their latch door actuators? Should I be worried 100,000 miles down the road? I treat my cars very well and do not slam, yank over-rev or abuse them, but I can't help feeling Toyota is lowering the bar when I see these little details. Or maybe its just me. I've been driving Tacomas for over 20 years and I can pick up the little details very fast. The better and the worse. Great review as always Brian. Your review content is absolutely the best and exactly what buyers want to hear. Thanks for your efforts and honest insights.

However, if you want to save money, and need a basic vehicle with a bed, it’s rugged and will last forever. It has low power. It’s nothing special. Until you make memories with it and forget how slow it is. Sadly it doesn’t get much more mpg than the V6 in most cases. But I’d say it’s great for those who don’t care about power, who live in a flat region, and want very affordable utility. Then that’s where the 2.7 shines. Even better if it doesn’t have 4x4.
