I don't believe that would have been Alfa's choice, as Dodge is a far less expensive brand, with much less handling-related technology. The Giulia/Stelvio vehicles, for example, are far too good for Dodge, which could never charge their customers the necessary prices for Alfa technologies. Bottom line: Alfa is likely to get screwed in this potential component sharing plan, forced to use more conventional product solutions to cater to Dodge, like using MacPherson struts rather than unequal length control arm front suspensions (like in Giulia/Stelvio).

Well, that might be because the Hornet hasn't been on sale for a year yet.

@rlsedition it's nice being wrong. The Hornet GT went on sale the end of Fall 2022. The Hornet RT in Spring of 2023. Seeing that it's been on sale FOR A YEAR, I still haven't seen a single one. Knowledge it's priceless.

@@douglasb.1203 Hey, smartass, I could care less what Dodge does, as long as it doesn't harm Alfa. In this case, Alfa did all the grunt work and Dodge got a new car for doing very little, and even received the much lower price they wanted on their base (volume) car. The Tonale, which is doing well in Europe (where Dodge isn't sold), is a non-starter in the US due to its high price. OBTW, I've seen plenty of "Hornets" (Tonale copycats) on my roads. If this is how Stellantis is going to do component sharing among Alfa and its sister divisions, Alfa is, indeed, doomed as a brand. Brands sharing platforms is a much-used industry practice, but you have to do it carefully to be successful; look at the VW Golf and Audi A3, which share just about everything you can't see/touch, but look nothing alike in exterior/interior. Dodge doesn't have the market position Alfa has (entry lux) and will just dumb down Alfa's future specs in pursuit of volume if Stellantis continues on this path.

@@douglasb.1203 Who the hell do you think you are? All-knowing car enthusiast? Hardly. What are your credentials? OK, so you remembered more about the Hornet timing than I did. I didn't keep close track of it, but I sure made a stink about the Alfa Tonale rip-off Online, and the Hornet early US release was just another nail in Alfa's coffin, at least in the US. As I said, Stellantis apparently doesn't know how to manage their brands so one doesn't devour the other, while the VW Group knows how to make all their brands flourish. Unfortunate, but true.

Dodge is lazy.

I have a Giulia quad. It isn’t for most. The maintenance is very very expensive and often. It’s an 80 grand car with the corresponding maintenance expected. Buy a Camry v6 and it will be good for most

@@zzoinks Where's you data, guys? The Giulia/Stelvio vehicles are just as reliable as their German competition. My Giulia has been dead reliable for the two years I've owned it.

Alfa is on its way out in the U.S. (again). Stellantis screwed it up royally, from the abysmal dealer network to the same-old concerns about reliability.

@@VideoAmericanStyle Agree about Stellantis, but the Giulia/Stelvio cars work just fine, with roughly the same reliability as BMW/Merc/Audi. My Giulia hasn't been back to the dealer in the two years I've owned it, and it 's great to drive.

​​@@rlseditionmost of the problem with AR is that Americans harbor views about unreliability issues from 40 years ago. There is nothing as unreliable as a BMW, Mercedes or Audi. Right here on RU-vid every " Cars to Avoid" videos posted include a BMW and Audi. It's been that way for years.

Wrong, the dodge is a rebadged Alfa, Alfa Romeo wasn't happy when they had to give the dodge that car but Stellantis forced them to.

@@krishpanzade7109 It's poor strategy, either way. Between product dilution and the abysmal dealer network, Stellantis is ruining Alfa's already dwindling chances of survival in the U.S.

The Tonale is selling fine in Europe, where there is no sibling that borrowed the look and all the mechanicals like Dodge did here.

They are all sold before they even arrive. Can't keep them on the lot....
