Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! Even though the Seltos may not be the first small SUV that comes to mind, Kia made some very purposeful updates for 2024 and it’s definitely one of our top picks. Let’s just hope Kia is working on a hybrid model for the next generation!
Love this color!! My mother has had her Seltos S in Mars Orange for over a year. She’s still obsessed. She tells everyone she calls it Ginger and that they are “besties”. She drives a lot for work and has put over 20k miles in the first year. No problems yet.
@@phatgringo2.0 She traded her 2017 Sportage in on it. That car had almost 200k miles on it. No real issues outside of the usual stuff. I’ll probably never own a Kia but only cos they don’t make trucks. My mother swears by them. It’s her 3rd or 4th.
This is my first time hearing the name kia seltos dnt know where I been but I luv it 2024 Kia new seltos sx models are so nice looks classy the snow white pearl is what I have and I get so many compliments on my NEW Baby kia seltos luv my kia And That's on that PERIODT!!!!❤
I bought an awd ex. Pluton blue. Love it so far. Coming from a forte gt I still find the engine to be fine. It's smooth and in sport mode accelerates off the line good. The ride is smooth and love the large screens.
I'm also switching from forte gt! This is good to know. Im definitely wanting something a bit smoother but was worried about missing my turbo/dct if I go for the ex trim. You're ok with the cvt too?
Such a brilliantly designed car for this subcompact segment. I had a 2021 SX turbo and it was a pleasure to drive. The looks of the interior and exterior are even better now with the refresh. Front row comfort and space is more generous than some compact SUVs. The back seat is where it can get a bit tighter than I would prefer, and that was the main reason I traded my lease in early for a 2023 Tucson Limited last month. Loving that vehicle as well, but a part of me does miss the Seltos. It’s a tremendous vehicle! Just avoid the boring colors.
We have a 22' Selts SX and we love it. We don't mind the DCT, knowing that if you modulate the accelerator like you're driving a manual transmission at slow speeds, it works just fine. It's a hoot to drive, especially in sports mode.. Combined mpg's hover around 25 mpg and 30 on the highway is possible if you keep it under 80. We like the handling and the comfort isn't bad though for longer road trips we prefer our Sorento.
Absolutely, it really is a shame people can't simply count "one Mississippi" between changing from throttle to brake and vice versa. That's all you need to do to make a DCT smooth and instead the torque converter auto sucks the acceleration and efficiency of what's supported to the point of a nice little subcompact like this.
@@DanielBrownOre that’s because those transmissions have shown themselves to be garbage and counting Mississippi doesn’t help it but you enjoy what you have 😂
@@XX-166 yep, I have a Mazda 3 AWD Turbo with 375 lb/ft of torque at the wheels and a regular six speed auto, I WISH I had a seven speed DCT... but if they are garbage, they are garbage, a whooole different issue, way to change the subject not so smart guy... DCT's can be incredible if they are done right, to not just fix the DCT and spend all that money instead switching to a pig of an inefficient trans screams dumb users to me.
@@DanielBrownOrethose Hyundai DCTs are garbage they are jerky when other DCTs aren't and they have more issues then they should , KIA didn't change a whole transmission just because it was just a little rough
I wish the Seltos for US had the heated steering wheel, heads-up display, power passenger seat and heated rear seat Canada gets. I am not sure why they remove these options when there is a market for it here.
The Kia Sportage is the target car for the US. It's much more popular and suited to a greater amount of people so Kia are pushing the Sportage in the US over the Seltos. Which means that the Sportage gets more focus and better features/etc.
After having a Hyundai equus and the issues that I've had I don't think I'll buy a Korean car again anytime soon. But this small SUV looks pretty nice.
@@DM72513 interest rates aren’t the fault of Kia, the national average for cars is around 8.5% right now. Plus, I got my with no dealer markups. Be a better shopper.
Thank you for being so thorough about the differences in trim levels!!! I'm in the market and I like to watch reviews that talk about the differences between the trim levels. I've watched like 20 reviews on this car and not one has mentioned that the sunroof cannot come with this blue with the black top!!! Kia's website was a bit confusing on that so thanks!
OMG what's with the MPG? Otherwise really like the car, perfect size, good tech, but oh man now that the corolla cross is on the market, makes you think twice
People couldn't simply learn to give one second between changing from gas to brake and vice versa and modulate the throttle with the DCT so they were forced to dumb it down to torque converter auto that's not efficient in such a small vehicle.
I live In Korea and bought a Seltos last year! Interesting to see some big differences for the North American markets. Ours came with a dial for gear shifts and also my model came with paddle shifts. Another big difference is we have 360 cameras and blind spot cameras. Heated and ventilated front seats. Exterior wise the front bottom bumper is a more square design and missing the orange reflectors on the side as well! Has been a great car so far!
It's almost Teal and everything I own, including my home is in Teal and beige. I gotta have this color! I have my Soul in Mars Orange. I wonder if a Soul can be purchased in 2024 with this color?
That SX selto looks great! That new bodystyle has piqued my interest. It just looks sleek and sporty throughout. To me, that is a proper bodystyle. Not too thrill with the turbos as they just wear out quicker and a very costly parts to repair. Why kia didn't go with the wireless android auto just didn't make any sense for a top end model.
Wow, the US Seltos are really underfeatured. India got a full 360 camera, cooled seats, and the sound mood stuff in the prefacelift car! Then again, Kia India sold more Seltoses in India than the US.
@@Victic005 Well it’s not for me, I just traded in my Seltos, but not because I didn’t love it. Has to be SX turbo though. The problem with the black for me is that the Seltos is rather tall vertically for how short it is horizontally. It literally turn into a cube and throws the proportions way off. I’m not a carbon fiber fan either…haha. My Seltos was Neptune Blue, which really made everything pop. I pointed out a black Seltos on the road to 2 different friends on different occasions and they also said it looked terrible. They don’t even look like a Seltos.
Might be a good commuter car? Is right at the limit for what I would accept in performance. I would spring for the sunroof and cooled seats. The Kona N is obviously a more sporting option, but, I don’t think a sunroof or ventilated seats are an option with the Kona. I do like the color here on the Seltos.
I test drove a Kona a few weeks back and it is a bit on the loose side for me control wise, I tested a Seltos a week later and loved it. It felt nimble but more sturdy.
Wow $1400 for a sunroof? I’d probably say no to that. I have a sunroof in my 21’ Mazda CX5 and I don’t often use it. The sun is too bright. I do tilt it up a lot.
@@kiwi22207 LOL! Living in Florida I don’t get to open mine much either especially in the summer as it is too hot. But I do like having the moonroof part at night so I can see up at the stars sometimes.
@@stoptheinsanity Mazda is changing. I sell them and own one and lease one. 2 of the Mazdas now have a touchscreen in Apple CarPlay or android auto mode. Touch screen is not active when you get back into the Mazda mode for settings and such. So Mazda is listening. You can verify what I’m sharing with you on the CX90 videos and some others if you haven’t already watched Redline Reviews or Raiti’s Rides and so on.
@@2004cyrus I should have specified that I was talking about the CX-5, which is the model I want. I just don't think I can get used to that stupid knob though.
Those hi way MPGs are pretty dismal considering i know folks with a mazda cx30 turbo who consistently get 30- 32 mpg hwy and the mazda is much more powerful and is down two speeds to a 6spd auto.
This thing is way better than Chevy. Not sure why anyone would put a Chevy on their list unless it’s because grand daddy drove Chevys so all the generations insist on driving Chevys. I’ve heard country folk say that for 20 years in Oklahoma. It’s like a country mindset.
I have a 2022 Chevy Trailblazer. I just got 45 mpg on my trip out to pa. The tech is lacking but I haven’t had any problems. I see more and more on the road now with temp plates so people are definitely buying the Trailblazer.
I get this is a cheaper vehicle in a low end class. I would think the SX Trim would get Softer Door trim here and there for those who want a little classier car and not be reminded it’s the same as the base model Seltos
It is kind of strange cheapest Forte or Seltos are awesome very cheap salvage and brand new only about 5k miles and when fixed my self lower than 15k cost and got a radar camera lane assist with short self-drive and other new modern crap that i don't need and don't like and don't use turned mostly off so as an auto high beam but do not have all 4 windows one-touch up and down that is a much better option that i want and yes no LED i had to by LED bulbs on my own i better have these 2 options then all that computer camera modern junk that if stop working im not even going to fix it ever🤩
We went to pick this vehicle up on memorial day weekend, and in the LX they showed us that had the digital dash display. My friend didn't want that in white which was the only LX they had. Anyways she picked her gray one up today and I'm curious to know if that one came with analog displays
For this small of a car 27 highway is kinda dogshit. Its the same engine in the Kia Forte GT and gets 35 highway with the 7 DCT. So moving to a 8 speed and only 300 lbs heavier for it to suck 8 mpg less IMHO is just bad. It should get 30-31.
Only thing i dont like about it is the Grill! its a bit odd and much. but could live with it. That Dual Clutch Tranny caused this vehicle to have low reliability scores. ( Yano Nissan Style so we cant forget that 10 years from now lol )
Kia definitely misses the mark by not having towing capacity for the Seltos. Toyota Corolla Cross and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross both with CVT’s have a 1500 lbs towing capacity.
@@CJ-fh5xq without a specified towing weight and installing a hitch and trailer wiring would be an automatic void of warranty for any power train component
@@blarghman332 but the fact is if you are going to tow with the Corolla Cross it has a towing capacity of 1500 lbs stated by the manufacture for USA models. Kia Seltos(USA) is not showing any towing capacity within the spec section of website.
Great video! I liked the car until seeing that giant screen. Yikes. Big deal breaker. Wish the lower trims that don't have that screen could get the Bose sound system.
It's a shame they had to change the transmission to a dumbed down efficiency sucking torque converter auto that's out of place in a subcompact. I'd take the previous version SX and put a mild tune on it if I was going for a small SUV.
About to purchase this exact model and color, so I appreciate this review, but my god you talk so fast! I could barely keep up and could barely understand you at times. Had to rewind several times.
2 slot Memory seats available on the SX trim with sunroof and power gate package. Just sat in one today. Heads up display was also in there. Heated and vented front seats. Heated rear seats. Heated steering wheel. Canadian market. What market is this? Big downgrade.
This is a great looking car but the fuel economy is shameful for a 2024 model. If Kia would put a hybrid in this and if Hyundai would put a hybrid in the Kona, they would be much stronger sellers.
I had a nice Chevy Sonic get 42 mph on the highway with a Larger 1.8 litre eco boost engine.... 25 mpg on a smaller engine? They can Keep it for the gas mileage..... I now have a Buick Encore gets about 35 MPG on the hwy..... This car is a NO for me
Kias are always disappointing when it comes to mpg , I had a 2021 Sportage for a week as a rental , it was the base motor and AWD , and I struggled to get 28 mph when in the same area I got 35+ in a current generation Nissan rouge with the turbo motor
1. 'Pluton' is a very obscure word. Had to look it up. I now know what a pluton is but I don't think they commonly exist in that color. 2. That is quite reasonable quickness for a vehicle of this sort but when you mentioned that it doesn't have launch control I had to laugh.
I stopped watching at 10:25. Why? Because I own the first gen of Seltos in the SX trim. I like nearly everything about the car. But it's the only car I've ever owned that tries to kill me by actively f*ing blinding me with that damn gloss black material on the steering wheel. It's the area at the bottom of the wheel, and I can tell you with certainty that this ONE reason is enough to make me consider another vehicle.
