Just FYI, the sunroof does open. I have this same vehicle and mine opens all the way. I don't love the way the car looks but it is so much fun to drive!
Alex is still the best reviewer. He is the only reviewer, in my experience, who actually posts objective numbers. I don't need to hear these people who can only finger point and arm wave. And I sure as hell don't need to hear them tell me how good the styling is; I have eyes and can make my own decision on that.
I watch these videos for entertainment and have no intention of actually buying one of these egg shaped cars 😂 But keep up the great work, always very informative
Another objective and balanced review. Any chance of getting your hands on the AMG EQE SUV for an ‘Alex’ review? I’m rather looking forward to that as it seems to strike the right balance between traditional Mercedes comfort and snappy driving characteristics..
He states in the video that the sunroof only tilts and doesn't fully open, but it does. There isn't a button, you just swipe your finger along the overhead panel. Once and the sun shade slides back and a second time and the glass panel slides open . Like you, I wish he showed that.
@@ngiovas a measurement of how far it opens would be helpful as many do not fully open. We actually stand on seats and watch air shows over fences through the sunroof.
EQE is a good car, but two biggest cons for me (as Alex pointed out): Breaks are really really bad , Suspensions too soft. Pros: Interior and Efficiency But they have a lot of reliability issues actually all "EQ" models, Mercedes needs to iron those out soon. The moon roof actually opens in EQE SUV, unsure why Alex could not get it opened (issue may be)
What I heard (didn't drive) that breaking is much better on the EQE SUV compared to the EQS, do you know? The EQE would fit my bill right well for my next car. My other competitor is the iX.
Odd that it comes standard with some stuff that you would have to add on the cheaper starting GLE like the Bermester sound system and pano roof. If they'd left those off I think it would have started about the same price as the Q8.
The light piping is annoying. Especially at night! Too much glare. I would have to turn it off to see out the windshield. That's a feature I can do without. Other than that, nice car.
Judging by the design language, they definitely want to be as efficient as possible. Doesn't really look good for me, but I understand the purpose. The interior looks tacky asf but that's the target audience, I guess. It's a good MB EV, but it's definitely not a good value in any aspect.
Their lineup right now has a ton of options - the gas GLE is still on sale, but now in 2024 there is a new GLE 450e PHEV which has both a gas motor + battery pack that gives it 77km worth of EV range and of course, this EQE SUV.
Alex what about the Jaguar I-PACE? Smaller, but less expensive and much better dynamically and still competitive in terms of range interior etc. It seems to be the forgotten EV!
The hood not being readily openable isn’t a big deal to me. But the washer fluid door seems ridiculous. Should have been in the rear hatch. Or uncovered when the driver door is open. Or in the wiper cowl cover.
Model Y has significantly more range (60+ miles) with AWD standard, and much better residual value than any Mercedes EV, which tend to depreciate like a boat anchor.
@@Rich_123 If you look at actual range instead of Tesla's overly optimistic numbers it is a small gap in range. I am curious where you get your residual value numbers?
BMW has a very aggressive lease deal on the iX. I agree the iX definitely has a lot going for it. More spacious, cleaner interior design and shines a little more than the competitors. I ordered a Lyriq AWD Sport 3 however.
It’s not elegant (or Mercedes-like) in the slightest but is probably the most simple solution if you were going to design two different recline angles.
Seems to me that those Germans have taken the over top 70's luxury USA "features" by that meaning didn't knew we needed them to a ridiculous level! And thx
I've been driving an EQE SUV loaner while my EQS SUV gets repaired. Neither one is good with bumpy roads / pot holes. You WILL feel the bumps. The suspension is stiff even in comfort mode! The EQS's massaging seats features a weak massage. So if you're looking for a plush ride and with a good deep quality massage, look elsewhere. I'm baffled this guy gives this ride an A+ while the camera captures him shaking as he rides over bumps in both regular pavement and off road riding.
The Lyriq has some fairly cheap interior bits. And the charging port cover is ridiculously breakable. Other than the charging port cover I don’t mind the Lyriq.
@@GrandHuevoteslol, Mercedes isn’t anything more reliable, in fact, there was a 2023 EQE caught on fire just not on long ago. These Mercedes EVs aren’t reliable.
For similar money I would skip all the euro brands and get a Rivian R1S. Its more capable and it comes from a brand that is 100% dedicated to EV, and it shows in the product.
I once aspired to own a MB (here in Australia), and earlier this year test drove a GLA. Well - it was pretty much the poorest quality vehicle that I had driven in my nearly 50 years of holding a driver licence ... the whole cabin, and I literally mean the whole cabin, vibrated and rattled over even the slightest of bumps, including the near invisible asphalt seams in the main road I was driving on. When I cut the test drive short, and returned the vehicle, my recounting of how poor I found the build quality then set the salesperson off on a long spiel about how MB build quality had greatly deteriorated over the past ten years, how the current model GLC was affected by multiple electrical and electronic faults that saw vehicles repeatedly coming in for warranty repairs, and more! I no longer aspire to own a MB. I went on to buy a Nissan Ti-L e-Power SUV - being the Euro/Australian version of the Nissan Rogue, except with electric motors and a small battery teaming up with a small turbo petrol/gas engine acting as generator. A brilliant vehicle! Tens of thousands of dollars cheaper than the GLA I test drove, yet a (in my opinion) greatly superior vehicle.
Mercedes are absolutely the most overpriced vehicles on sale today, I’m not gonna count the S-Class here because that’s very debatable, but still overpriced. I’m in the US and I drove the new GLC300 not long ago and it felt like I’m driving a 30K vehicle but it costs 58K!! The seats also felt very firm and comfort was not nearly as good as my brother’s 2022 GV70. Cheers
Why is it that no one talks about the incredible structural safety of Mercedes (Volvo too). The reason I drive Mercedes Benz is for their STRUCTURAL SAFTY, and their safety technology. Please compare this to other cars.
Not for me. I want my electric car to zip off the line and take advantage of the low center of gravity for good handling. This is your grandmother's electric car for sure.
Just compare "this" with Kia EV9. How the hell can you justify buying EQE versus EV9?? Even quality is not close. No "frunk", lower charging, poor build quality... rear seat recline and front cup holders are pure "innovations by Mercedes" straight from the future. But sure, laser-cut wood with the Mercedes logo (in case I forget me spending 70+K) and ambient lighting everywhere will make me feel just a bit better... oh yeah, 100 pages options list... my God 😱
@nurpurp15 I was judging based on video (wobbly panels, gaps, etc.). I can tell you about EV9 quality when I take the delivery in late November or early December. I ordered the EV9 AWD GT-line 6P Relax 1st Edition two weeks ago (living in Finland). If EV9 will stick to the same quality as EV6, it is a winner. I was never a KIA fan (quite the opposite), but you can't deny their vast leap forward in recent years. Anyway, there are a lot of factors against premium brands for me, even though I had BMWs and Volvos in the last decade. All the best 👍
@nurpurp15 can't agree to disagree 😄 Perhaps I should take EQE for a test drive and compare. By the way, EV6 has an exceptionally quiet ride and comfort (tested). But as said, you might be right regarding this particular EQE.
I test drove one of these last week .. the Merc refinement is visible interior and while driving but the exterior is so stupid .. It looks like it belongs in 2010s' and nowhere looks like a 80 grand car from the outside .. You must be a really big Merc fan boy/girl to buy it
I don't think I like the Mercedes "Automobile as Appliance" thing MB has going on. Putting that little wiper fluid door on the side is just asking for some idiot to walk by and pour something else in the fluid tank. It should at least be locked in tandem with the driver's door. And there is a ton of empty real estate under that hood, so why not put some shaped plastic for a package shelf instead of the mess that they've done?
Aerodynamics is needed for battery and/or gas engine efficiency, but if in the end, nobody wants a goofy looking car. All the EQ models look ungainly and just bad. The interiors on all the new MB products look like a 1980s, Eastern European disco. How many more things can they bathe in the tacky glow of LEDs.
Everyone off their game because of Tesla. Still those Former Tesla now Rivian now Lucid clearly learned well not so Legacy Das Auto excepting Ford interestingly.
