Good day to start off the @club100racing season. Here is how it went.
Practice: P11
Quali: P17 (P6 in group)
Pre final: P17⬆️P10
Final: P10⬆️P2⬇️P10
Practice I had a very sluggish kart(which was pulled out for the rest of the day), but it helped me improve my lines and refine my driving style.
Quali my kart was quicker but I made sure to set a decent lap before the hail came!
Pre-final Starting P17 I got a great start and made a bunch of places up, but I got stuck in between 2 karts and lost all the places I had just made up. But I got my head down and caught back up and worked with @jtg__09 to work back through the pack to get P10
For the Final in my 2 lap warmup I instantly noticed the kart underneath me was a lot quicker than the ones I had before, and I new I had a good chance of getting some good points. Sadly starting on the outside is not great, and I was shuffled down a few places. But I made lots of overtakes to catch up to a big pack running from p2 down to p8 or so. I managed to get all the way up to p4 but I went up the inside into the hairpin, and was in p2 for a split second, but sadly it was not meant to be. 5 or 6 abreast and I was shuffled out wide into the barrier and lost all my progress. And sadly the race was yellow flagged due to a driver having a big accident going down the main straight.
So in the end P10 definitely happy with my pace as I was gaining lots of time on the people in front and had some good race craft and was able to make moves that I wouldn’t have done last time here.
Sitting in P7 in the championship and feeling confident and exited for next round at gyg! 🏴
Special mention to @jackhkarting for winning his first round! Great drive in the final, and also @georqe_palmer_mobsby for working his way up from the b final to get P2 in the final
Also well done to my little bro for dominating the final and getting maximum points for the championship 😉
