The 2024 Subaru Impreza Is America's Best AWD Value 

I'm sick of the comments about bad performance. I find the 2.5 L with CVT very adequate. It's not designed for high performance!

Nick, If Toyota could be bothered to sell their 50 mpg, AWD Corolla Hybrid wagon, I am confident it would be the 'best AWD value'. As things stand, the AWD Corolla Hybrid sedan's limited trunk space allows the Impreza hatch to stay in the race. 🤔

Great reivew, Nick! Like the new sound/audio category as I agree its an important part for many of us and honestly one of the features in my car that is used every time I drive.

I wish the lane centering at highway speeds is also compared (not just lane departure warning or lane assist). Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Audi all have decent lane centering features.

I ended up buying a 2.5 Mazda3 hatch. I preferred the full leather interior, wonderful 6 speed torque converter transmission, full color heads up display and 12 speaker premium audio combined with quiet ride makes things comfortable. I did cross shop the Subaru Impreza.

Long live the Impreza----I do not want to see this discontinued.

Your comment that a CVT robs acceleration compared to a conventional automatic transmission is not correct. A properly programed CVT transmission keeps the engine revs at the peak power point, which maximizes acceleration. The only way a conventional automatic transmission could beat that is if its frictional losses were significantly lower. My comments do not apply to the initial acceleration from a standing start, which depends mainly on the low-speed gearing of the transmission.

It would be great if this channel reviewed the other trim levels if they're going to cover the same car in multiple videos.

The Impreza RS looks way better than the plastic fantastic WRX

I got a 2017 Impreza Premium. I find is has a good amount of pickup for a 152hp engine.

I'm surprised they went with Harman Kardon instead of JBL; Subaru ain't a premium brand. But giving it a C & comparing it to Bang Olufsen seems unfair.

I don't know much. All I can say is that I like Subarus but I think 31,000.$ is a bit much for that car...

I think the 2.0 Sport is the best value.

The other trims are great value, but the RS trim is overpriced, you can get a more comfortable Legacy with the same engine for LESS money.

Perhaps, but that's only because the Trax doesnt offer AWD. And I actually think as someone else mentioned - the Corolla Hybrid Sedan LE AWD is a better all round value in sedan format.

The color sure seems close to the same blue they’ve been using for 30 years to me. Blue is the Subaru color. Don’t take my word for it … look at the winning rally cars. Look at the color line up for the last couple of decades.

Is it just me wondering why Subaru does not offer the Impreza in WRX form? I’d love to have the WRX in HB form and I think it looks nicer than the current WRX. How hard could it be? Keep it cheap, add plastic flares, a steeper rear spoiler, and some black accents.

Cvt gimmick just needs to go. Modern 8+ speed transmissions would really wake these cars up.

A good and informative review. However Nick, keep you bloody hands on the wheel when driving. At some stages, both hands were off the wheel! What's the matter with you? We would not touch this car, because we owned a Forester with the 2.5 litre direct injection engine and they coke up so easily because there is no port injector. We did 25,000 miles of mixed driving in 2 years and even allowing for the inevitable lumpy low speed engine issues you get with boxers, this was not good. If you don't believe me, then ask why your Subaru dealer has a remedy for this carbon build-up issue. The old favorite, walnut shells fired in to the engine which according to our dealer was going to cost us around $300. There are too many manufacturers not dealing with this D.I and no port injector issue; BMW, Mazda, GM to name a few. Thanks you Ford, Toyota and some Hyundai engines (Smartstream) who DO fit port injectors.
