I must be the customer you described at the end of your video. This is my first electric vehicle and no learning curve for me with the BZ4X. (Plug and play?) I bought the LE version, which is the FWD version because I do not care for panoramic glass roofs. Don't like the additional heat and being blinded by the sun. Don't care much about 4 wheel drive either. With it's weight, ground clearance and large flat metal plate under the vehicle I figured the BZ4X would already perform better in the snow tham most ICE vehicles. In addition the LE being the entry level fell in my price range. This summer, the last 3 or 4 times I recharged my car at home I had 446 kilometers of available range. Pretty decent! May I add that I love driving the BZ4X. I like pretty much everything about this car. Thanks again for your very positive review!

@@gillesgagnon9585 it's a no nonsense kind of EV and it does drive really good. I was impressed overall. Our channel is different in the sense that we want to review average vehicles that the majority of people can afford and I am baffled by how many EV channels were saying it was an underwhelming vehicle but they are comparing it to all other EVs and from an insider perspective. Coming from ICE, this vehicle handles way better and feels more powerful while costing a lot less in energy. I like it! It's a bit small for my personal needs but that's not what these reviews are about. Thank you Gilles. Where about are you writing us from? We operate out of Quebec City

@@Outsider.Reviews I live in Montréal. Your review is one of the few that gives a fair assessment of the BZ4X. It seems to me you have the ability to keep both feet on the ground. The other day I watched a review form two american car reviewers and they only had very harsh comments to give. For instance they criticised the knob used to shift gears saying it was difficult to use and badly designed. It only took me two seconds to figure it out and everytime I put the knob in the D mode the car moves forward, so I began to ask myself questions about their IQ. They were also saying that the BZ4X is a boring drive. I thought they probably live in a world where the only acceptable car to drive is a Lamborghini and if you drive something else you must be a peasant. On the other hand you have an average Joe like me who is very happy to drive a comfortable, quiet, hi-tech and reliable car that will take me everyday from point A to point B without taking a 20 year loan. I am in fact so average that I can tell you the BZ4X is the best car I ever had in my life. I have no desire whatsoever to go back to an ICE vehicle and happen to be very satisfied with my Toyota. You know what? I might not be the only one! Cheers!

@@gillesgagnon9585 very on point Sir! Shifter only becomes an issue when you cannot shift from drive, park and reverse without looking down and this rotary shifter takes only a couple of tries before it becomes intuitive. Only push button shifters give me pause but I just reviewed the Honda Pilot which uses push buttons but they put them in a way that I could do it without looking down which is good.

Got one 2 weeks ago. Very satisfied .. drive almost like a regular car. 435 km full charge drops to 410 kms if you activate the ventilation. Will most likely drop to 300-325 ish during winter. Great review! There is no glovebox because the space in the dashboard is taken up by a radiant heating system. You have the same system on the driver side as well. The radiant system will create a nice ''heat bubble'' for the two front occupants. The big advantage of a radiant system is that it does not consume a lot of energy (no fan to push the heat) so the ''saved'' energy can be used to give the car more range.

The flipside of slower charging and less range: Toyota specified the battery for 10 years with no more than 10% degradation. If you lease a BZ4X, this doesn't matter but we bought the car and do intend to drive it for at least 300,000 KM. Like ourselves and other Lexus / Toyota owners who expect long term reliability, Toyota delivered once again.
@Outsider.Reviews
@Outsider.Reviews Месяц назад
@@oilerlord7367 that is true. I am looking forward to more LFP batteries on the market as you can charge those to 100% with no degredation. They last much longer, however they aren't as energy dense therefore you need a 72kwh battery to replace a 70kwh lithium ion battery but I think it's worth it.

You say that this car has a towing capacity of 1500Lbs, but on pages 230 & 231 of the 2024 BZ4X owner's manual it clearly says, "Your vehicle is not designed for trailer towing." Is this a case of Toyota just being overly cautious, because I would like to be able to pull a small trailer with this car?
@Outsider.Reviews
@Outsider.Reviews 20 часов назад
@@wayneskelley6169 You are correct. Toyota decided to NOT rate this vehicle for towing. There are many speculations for that but the one I might find plausible is: Engineering and Design Choices: The bZ4X wasn't designed with towing in mind. Its platform, drivetrain, and cooling systems might not be optimized for the stresses of hauling. This could lead to potential damage or excessive wear and tear. I would advise against towing since insurance won't cover you in case of an incident and I apologize for misleading you

Absolutely. Towing is mentioned for the bZ4X in this video. I was under the impression that towing was not an option. This vehicle (FWD) is on my short list and I would be interested in towing with it if possible (I have a lightweight camper in mind).
@Outsider.Reviews
@Outsider.Reviews 2 месяца назад
According to Carsguide, The towing capacity of the 2024 Toyota BZ4X supports up to 750kg. This is a braked figure! The bZ4X can be equipped with towing attachments aftermarket since Toyota will only install an "activity mount" type of hitch. Personally if I am towing a camper... I would look at the VW ID4 which can come from the factory with a Tow hitch and ball and can tow 2700 lbs. I know that may not appeal someone who is looking at a Toyota but I would want to get it equipped with a hitch straight from purchase.

They've still got a LOOOONG way to go... Here's the facts: A GENEROUS comparison to the Tesla Model 3 LR RWD finds the BZ4X (depending on trim) has the same cargo capacity, 111-119 miles less range, 20-30% slower charging, no rear screen, $900 higher average 10-year maintenance/repair cost (by brand), 3-8 fewer speakers, 1-3 fewer subs, 1 fewer amp, general warranty covers 1 year/14k miles less, drivetrain warranty covers 3 years/60k miles less, slower, still no Supercharger network access, no FSD, all for $10k HIGHER price... Completely insane. And if you really need SUV clearance, the comparison to the Model Y is similar, just with way more cargo space and no rear screen and worse audio (since MY hasn't yet been updated). The one caveat is that here's a HUGE disparity between the buy and lease prices and I can't make sense of it. The lease prices on the Toyota website look great - better than Tesla - but then I look at any of the advertised dealer leases and they're 60-100% higher and say they require $20k down-payment! WtF is this? 😵 If you can actually get it for the website lease price, that would be the only rational reason for buying this hunk of junk.
@Outsider.Reviews
@Outsider.Reviews 2 месяца назад
@@catbert7 this is really depending on your area. In Canada, Tesla has not been reducing their prices, therefore the model 3 is more expensive than the bZ4X, has worst thermal management therefore winter range is terrible and let's not kid ourselves, the people shopping or looking at the bZ4X are NOT the same that are shopping for a Tesla. The bZ4X has relatively the same tech, same way to drive as an ICE and no learning or adaptation curve. Tesla buyers are looking for the complete opposite with lots of tech and very minimal hard controls.

I’d say the BZ4X is for Toyota loyalists who want an EV and either don’t know or don’t care that it is inferior to the competition or people who buy or lease for a good deal. Around town this is good reliable transportation, so if that’s all you need and you get this cheaply then it’s just fine. I’m not a fan of the ID4 due to the asinine controls going from the window switches to the haptic steering wheel and the sliders on the infotainment, but they did make big improvements to the horsepower and the infotainment programming. If the bZ4X can manufacture and sell 10,000 units per month, the sales price can be reduced by 10%, and if it can sell 100,000 units, the sales price can be reduced by 20%. To achieve this, an EV manufacturing plant must be built and a supply chain for procurement of parts must be established. However, if contrary to expectations, the bZ4X sells only 3,000 units per month, Toyota will suffer huge losses; GM/Ford has lost billions of dollars due to poor EV sales. Toyota hopes to manufacture the bZ4X at its existing plant and sell it to early adopters of the bZ4X without investing in EVs. Unlike EV-only companies, Toyota will not go bankrupt even if 10,000 cars a year last 10 years thanks to hybrid sales. I'm Japanese.

@@Molishious especially when putting more into innovation of the EV department will also further PHEV technologies. A small battery can be good if you increase charging speed above 350kwh. @@Outsider.Reviews My impression is that most people have decided that 250 miles range is the minimum acceptable amount. When you go below that you lose most people in the EV market. I could understand if Toyota put in the same size battery as the competition but just wasn’t efficient enough to get the range people want, but they went ahead and put in a battery smaller than what the ID4, MachE, Ioniq5/EV6, Equinox EV, Nissan Ariya have. So they have the worst range with the lowest horsepower in the AWD than any of the competition. I own a RAV4 Prime and it’s awesome, so I have a lot of respect for Toyota and when they make a car as underwhelming as the BZ4X I have to think it’s on purpose, not incompetence. I’m hoping with increasing battery energy density we’ll see the range in PHEV’s go up. The 42 + range in my Prime covers me 90 % of the days, but on weekends when I go out of town, I wouldn’t mind for it to go 100 miles and fast charge. However, I’ve decided my next car will be an EV, it just probably won’t be a Toyota.
