I really love your reviews. But you really need to stop directly comparing this to a Ford Raptor. The Raptor is an overdone over priced heap of silliness. Toyota is not trying to build a Raptor killer. They clearly refuse to get sucked into that unlike Ram did with it's equally dumb TRX. Like I said I enjoy your reviews, but you must have said Raptor 25 times.
Happy Weds everyone! If you can’t decide between something like an F-150 Raptor and Tremor, the TRD Pro version of the new Tundra may just be the happy medium buyers are looking for. It also happens to be the ONLY hybrid option in the segment of factory built Off-Road trucks and that makes this a very unique offering! Also, incase you’re curious, we’ll be driving the new Tacoma in early November, so stay tuned!
Yeah they need to put tow hooks, even if it's at the bottom of the vehicle. And also need to use the grand highlander styled design for a pano roof with max headroom since with the pano roof, the grand highlander has more room than the pano roof of the tundra
Great review! The black headliner in the 2024s is a small, but HUGE improvement. The Tundra overall isnt perfect, but what vehicle is? Rhetorical question. Dont actually respond back to me. 😅
@@naveenthemachine I think you have made your point chuckles 🤡. You nitpick at the overall most reliable auto maker on the planet. Which Renault do you drive again? 🤔
The TRD Pro has to be the worst choice to purchase. You lose so many features for a suspension and pay such a premium for it. It doesn't make sense to me. I'd get the Platinum over the TRD any day.
The TRD should be able to handle the curb when I drive over it in the grocery store parking lot. That cage thing and the 1600lbs payload should be enough to handle my grocery bags.
Don’t think they wanted to as this setup is likely way more costly to manufacturer and develop than the 5.7L; emissions standards being more strict made them have to downsize and in order to stay competitive on power…toss on the the turbo and the hybrid setup and voila
@@naveenthemachine the wastegate was a supplier issue existing for a short time period of months in that first year By the way there’s another Hyundai / Kia fire recall that’s shown up today for 3.4m vehicles urging them to park outside. Thoughts?
@@chibbyylolthe tundra also has a fire recall You’re all acting as if Hyundai Kia recalls are so bad but when Toyota issues a similar recall then suddenly it’s okay just because it’s a Toyota with the typical mythical reliability?
@@naveenthemachine severity is important; urged to not even park inside? What is that even? Even better is the fix is they install a smaller fuse do they if it leaks the fuse will hopefully blew before the thermal event; they’re still acknowledging the brake fluid will still leak lol Not to mention if they’re outside now, they’re more susceptible to the ‘Kia boyz’ theft
Holy... In the 20 hours plus of reviews that I have watched since recently purchasing my Tundra, I have not once seen a more condensed, comprehensive and accurate evalution of this truck. Many kudos. I've subscribed! You certainly come to the table informed and prepared!
Haven't been impressed in a long time about Toyota Trucks coming out..always seems like they go half ass or just miss the styling in and out all together
I had a 2022 Tundra TRD Pro for about 6 months. I really did not like it especially the hybrid regen braking system that made a loud humming noise every time I stepped on the brake (Toyota claimed that was "normal"). I disliked that so much it took the fun out of driving the truck. Ended up trading it in for a 2023 F150 Raptor and couldn't be happier. When discussing the MSRP Toyota (as well as all other manufacturers i guess) has really crapped on it's customer base. The video mentions that the 2024 MSRP is around $71K...in 2022 the MSRP of my Pro was $66500. Just shows how crazy truck prices have gotten (and that's not just Toyota)...same exact truck as two years ago but $5-6K more.
Interesting comment about the braking. Savage Geese mentioned a weird humming noise when they tested the Sequoia. I think Toyota blew it with the Tundra. The Big 3 trucks are just much more refined and still offer v-8s. The Capstone is a joke, offering the black and white interior as the only option. I know the fan boys will claim these trucks will go " a million miles" but we don't know what the reliability will be for a few years.
@@dyauswinters yup no humming issues on my 23. And I replaced my Gen 2 Raptor which had a transmission replaced and new transmission overheated every time I took it on the highway. I'll take the flaws on the Tundra over the Ecopoop engine anyday. I would say the only major flaw on this Truck is the turning radius! Absolutely horrible!
I owe one and it's not likeable It's fantastic! Not a single regret power style and tech best truck out I hands down. And one more thing you don't actually know the truck the computer is close to 1mpg off on the screen then real life. Do actual math at the pump stock trd pro is about 18ish combined I put 35s and I'm at about 15 tank combined
The new Tundra has many flaws. No tow hooks, no rear bumper step, shorter depth box, way less forward visibility out the front windshield, garbage departure and approach angles, worst ground clearance in the segment, no rear seat storage with the hybrid battery, 15 years with the same garbage JBL sound system, and fitment issues and squeeks/rattles after 2+ years in production. Tundra lead engineer Mike Sweers should have been fired years ago.
Great review, quick and to the point. Toyota lost me with the roll out of the new Tundra. Such a complete disappointmen after a 5 year wait. Bring back the V8 or a diesel in a heavy duty truck. I don’t need or want a hybrid EV.
i wanted the TRD Pro so bad but went with the capstone bc i hated the red interior and the reduction in features such as the heated / cooled seating in the rear, the HUD, the automatic step boards etc. I would def get the pro if it wasnt for that tho
Toyota has been lacking in build quality these past few years. Pannel gaps, squeaky suspension, questionable hybrid reliability, etc. Gonna wait and see if it lasts longer than those cheaply built ford 3.5L ecoboost engines
I went with the GMC sierra 2024 over the toyota. I just felt like they just slapped some new tech into the same old design. I love Toyota and Lexus but they need to up there game .
20:55 my 37 Raptor has less torque, larger tires and it’s much bigger and is faster 0-60 stock.. it’s Toyota doing Toyota things.. being very conservative with actual delivered power.
Great video, but why do we need a 0-60 time for a truck? A lot of automotive journalists do this. Pulling a trailer would yield better content for truck buyers.
He's said it plenty of times, he's just doing it for demonstration purposes hell he said it in the video!!! He knows truck buyers don't buy them for 0-60 times as well as other cars. If you're subscribed then you would know from his previous 500+ videos where he's mentioned it. Some journalists do trailer test in Colorado over a mile above sea level check out The Fast Lane they do em. Everybody don't have those resources lol
Because most of us rarely pull trailers. If you are doing that regularly you get a 3/4 ton or better. For most of us, we tow maybe once or twice a year, the rest of the time it's family, kids stuff, and a luxury car. And yeah, we want the truck to go fast. It's how we have fun.
Just sold my 6.2 Denali and picked up the 1794 edition. Lovin it. The hybrid engine is much faster. Only thing the Denali had better was the truck bed, but thats it. GM quality sucks today
I just wonder if Toyota or other EVs could come up with idea to have upgradable battery configuration, I personally would like to put additional battery in the bed of the truck to make more power or efficiency or like an anchor portable charger 🔌 add that and you get additional charge…
This is a very good review. Pay attention to the very quick and passing small criticisms throughout the video, they are spot on! I’ve been comparing Tundra against GMC and Dodge and Tundra is simply behind the competition. Have always loved Toyota, but if you’re gonna drop this kind of $, you owe it to yourself to give the competition serious looks and consideration. I did, and I pulled the trigger on a GMC Denali Ultimate, over the T. Capstone. So glad I did, and this coming from a Toyota fanboy all my life.
From my observation Every cars and trucks has their own FLAWS… And these are the FLAWS that i’ve found on the TUNDRA trucks…Toyota needs to upgrade premium speakers for better sounds, upgrade the keyfob as well it’s kinda plasticky and cheap. Eliminates and no more middle hump on the floor in the backseats and Add front tow hooks also… if Toyota fix these problems they sell them trucks like hot cakes !
Doesn't even get close to the gas mileage claimed it was a complete fraud. This truck was a bit of a disaster and it's already in redesigned from what I hear.
I have a 2014 1794 with 170,000 miles on her. She starts as fast today as she did in 2014. She runs just like she did in 2014. I honestly have never seen a vehicle built as well as that truck. Yeah, I’m with you. I’m keeping my 5.7!
Truck has many problems . Fire for one . Twin turbos a real problem . Electrical problems . Toyota wants U to pay monthly 4 navigation & other features. Who would be so stupid . Looks like shit . No V8 . That truck will not last . Cost to purchase unrealistic.
My 2014 Tundra has 780 000 miles . Talk to those who purchased a new 6 cylinder Tundra . Some have waited 8 + months due to turbo malfunction. The body has to be removed to fix turbos . Imagine the cost not under warranty. Electrical problems with locks to navigation. Look be informed before U purchase
TOO MUCH THIN PLASTIC.....TOYOTA IS SO BIG THEY DONT NEED TO GIVE THE CONSUMER QUALITY. WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT FOR FRONT METAL BUMPER WITH A WINTCH. FROM THE RADIATOR TO THE FRONT IS ABOUT 13 INCHES OF "AIR" to the bumper. Garbage on a 3 mile an hour crash.
Really good video and breakdown of the TRD PRO. I am a Toyota fan but for the price, can Toyota at least act like they can produce a quality interior (hard plastics and the back seat doors was a step down). Not to mention upgrading the bed power supply to match the Ford’s wattage. And lastly get rid of the digital camo pattern. Other than that, I am still torn between the Platinum TRD Package vs. the TRD PRO.
This was a great review. I love when a Reviewer is quick and concise with their observations and Analysis. I have owned four Tundras in my days. I was waiting for a drastic change but I guess I'll have to settle for this. Really not happy with the gas mileage claim and also no hands off driving.
Great video Sofyan! Toyota needs to make some changes to the Tundra - Make roomier rear seat like the old Tundras, change the rear bumper with a bumper similar to the new Tacoma, add tow hooks, some of us use tow hooks, make the interior similar to the new Tacoma, have a top glove box like.
Is this really worth $80k? How do people justify paying for these? Are they financially responsible? I make good money and can’t justify $1500 car payments.
Toyota needs to get off their rears and make a HD 2500 and 3500 truck for people wanting a reliable work truck. I am not worried about the engine failure thing being it was a manufacturing error and not a design flaw so that will get fixed I am sure of it. The Waste gate thing was very small and only happened early on so I think these truck will end up being the most reliable and longest lasting trucks in the long run:P
Catchup was never necessary for the Tundra to The Big Three🤨 Toyota buyers bought the Tundra for Dependability and Reliability pure and simple.👍 The New Gen 3 Tundra is Ugly and weak. Toyota Corp says the New Tundra will grow on you,I think not.👎👎😬
MSRP for this truck is 74-78K in Austin, Texas. The limited 4X4 off road package new will sell at 70K- unless it has several thousand miles on it and even then dealerships won't mark it down that much.
Don’t forget the resale/trade in value. I got $30000 for my 2017 Tacoma with 65000 miles on it and $5000 off of the 2024 Tundra Limited, I couldn’t say no………
I wish I had bought two 2020 Tundras when I bought my gen 2 limited and put one in storage. Just in case I have an accident with mine. I could have bought two back then for the same price as one now. Almost four years has passed and I still can't take the gen 3 over the gen 2. Change is not aways better.
this truck in georgia will cost over $80k due to southeast toyota distributors add ons no one wants but are forced to pay for if you want their product, and dealer "market adjustment" running $2500 to $7000....also each dealer is only allocated 2 per year. this creates scarcity, which fuels price gouging. Figure it out toyota, all you engineering and QC is wasted.... your driving people back to domestics and nissan
I’m a Toyota snob. I can’t stand ford or gm. Their quality is disgusting. Their morals being diehard democrats is disgusting. With that said….Flawed is an understatement. 😬😬😬
I love toyota...... But disappointed by only being able to get the pro with a short bed... And the tundra you cannot get a standard shirt on a extended cab anymore. Kinda lame.
I’m going to say this You know and I know Toyota know how to build a reliable truck. They have always been that way. What happened now you think they forgot how to build this is done on purpose. Four for a reason now you figure it out what the reason is somebody is trying to destroy this brand that’s what it is
I was so excited for the new Tundra before it came out and I wanted to love it, but now that it's been out in the wild for a couple years and I've had a chance to drive it, I just hate it. The front end is hideous, the powertrain is unrefined and over-hyped, and the interior is a jumbled mess...way too many switches by your left knee where you can't see them while driving. Most of all, I hate the absolutely insulting price of this truck (and ALL trucks). It's utterly maddening how shamelessly greedy truck manufacturers have gotten, but it will catch up to them because there is a very limited number of buyers that can pay these infuriating prices. I guess I'll be keeping my Frontier Pro4x until the wheels fall off because I can't afford any full size truck anymore. Even my Pro4x was stupidly overpriced at $45k. I am looking forward to all of these greedy brands eating crow when their sales fall off a cliff.
I won't pay a dollar more than $240,000. $270,000 Tops. But it better have $35,000 in port installed options. And I won't pay more than $27,000 for market adjustment. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and shortages and social distancing fees of $6800.
My 2017 TRD Off Road gets 17.4 mpg for my everyday driving. I'm not hauling/towing, but neither are you in this case, so there really isn't any cost savings, especially when you factor in the massive increase in cost. I paid about a 3rd of that for this thing and it doesn't have all the annoying non-stop beeping "safety" features and tows about 800 lbs less and about 200 lbs less payload. That's still plenty for most applications. After market radio make up for a lot of the tech most people would care about.
