In 1972, there was about 2 cents worth of gold for every dollar in the system; but foreign nations could demand gold at 100 cents per dollar. Getting off the FDR gold standard was good, when FDR confiscated the gold and banned most forms of gold ownership from citizens; that was bad (but most people act like Nixon was the bad guy.) Nixon saved this nation from it's gold being poached!

People didn’t shop so much when I was a kid , the 1970’s, people didn’t really eat at restaurants at much, people didn’t have a bulging closet full of clothes, 5 kinds of shampoo at once etc… My grandparents were well off, house on a lake, had the same couch for 20 years, and, neither grandparent ever had a credit card. Well, i do have my reservations about the economic crisis. Wall Street pitched so-called quality stocks with high profitability and low debt, as a kind of insurance against whatever the economy might throw at you. Ease start young!! I am 50 years old and just this year, started investing! Looking back I really wish I had been smarter with my money. I went to college for the first time at 35 and became a registered nurse. I have made enough money while being a nurse to invest...but did I ? Oh no!!! I was so thrilled to be finally making good money that I foolishly blew every cent I made and lived paycheck to paycheck. I should have been investing!! But, I cannot turn back the clock. So now I invest in stocks, some crypto, and have a pension at work. My husband and I also like to resale antiques for profit. I don't care about status or what anyone thinks of me. I don't care about driving a brand new car or having an expensive house. I want financial freedom to share adventures with my family, that is what I want!! So please, start NOW!!! I messed up my back and was forced to quit my job and then got a job at a smoke shop. Where i would be alone for hours everyday. I felt like i could no longer make it physically and i dove into the world of knowledge. Working at the smoke shop alone..everyday studying. Looking back it was the best possible thing for me. 10 an hour with being allowed to study all day is fantastic. I recomend working at the head shop for anyone looking to study to get rich. Just dont waste the time. I ended up discovering how good credit gets you basically money to work with. And saving some and then i built a food truck. Now i have a restaurant and i just chill in my office studying half the day and teach people stuff the other half.

Jaspreet, I want to thank you for laying out the reality in layman terms about the economy and where it’s heading. And also thank you for the motivation and your truth bombs! I’m listening to this as I am getting my child’s lunch ready for school as a single mom. This is getting me fired up for the day to just keep doing what I’m doing by staying focused on my priorities: investing in myself, doing a lot of learning and training, and building my business to be able to generate more wealth while caring for my child. I’ve already been living on a shoestring budget for the last four years so I already don’t have Netflix, eat at restaurants, or go to Starbucks. Can’t afford most things so I don’t shop much, only necessities - but I am not going to stay here for long. I work extra long hours in order to reach my goal to get out of this poverty state. I don’t like being here. I’m overwhelmed and exhausted by all my responsibilities, but I just keep taking baby steps every day and not giving up on my dream. So if anyone single here complains they don’t have time, try doing it while raising a high maintenance toddler - alone. If I have time, you do too. It’s called being really good at multitasking. So listen to Jaspreet and cut off your Netflix and unproductive habits. Stop shopping and focused on your future. Invest in yourself and learn a new trade. You will have to sacrifice the immediate gratifications if you want to live like a king or queen.

This is an anti depression strategy. If u don't have something that makes u really happy around you, the chances of depression is highest. That's one of the major reasons people are depressed, they look around & nothing around them makes them excited, happy. Never say that. Wealth is created via percentages. Yes you do need money to make money and so if you have lots of money you can either create a lot more wealth or lose all your wealth. If you dont have much money both your gains and losses will be smaller. Save whatever you can, whether its 5 dollars per month or 150 dollars per month. If you can save on the low side, save for a few months and invest. The absolute worst thing you can do is to not invest. Time will make you wealthy. Good luck on your journey. I hope you will get all the wealth you seek...

Not true. Sorry but not. You have resources to leverage, it's called human capital. You can Uber, you can wait tables you can offer car washes. There are many ways to obtain money. Your situation is in your control. You are chosing not to work more to get more cash. You chose your expenses. You either reduce your standard of living or you increase your income. Your chosing not to do so is a choice. Every day you make choices. We all do. Most people are not willing to do what's needed to build wealth, so you are in good company. But don't lie to yourself, you always have choices, you might not like them. They might be hard. But they are there.

@Roylamx

That's called inflation. Without inflation there wouldn't be higher prices, wages would continue to be sufficient as prices would be stable and there'd be no need for an increase in wages or any loss of buying power. The cure for high prices,is high prices and that without wage raises. Never ever will the answer for inflation/to much money in the system be even more money in the system like trough wage raises. Something is only precious and keeps it's worth if it's scares. That's the problem with creating to much money,the currency get's diluted, devalues and more and more people ask for more of the same thing,that money.therefore in the old days money was from previous metal like silver and gold.
