The 300ZX Z31 gets a fresh paint job and looks AMAZING! 

I looked at pictures of the later models that eliminated the trim all together to modernize the look. So I figured it would look much cleaner and make it easier on me anyway. I dig the way it came out. Good luck on the paint job!

Yea, wouldn't buy those again. But they did the job.

I threw some take offs I had laying around on the front, they are the wrong size but will get the job done for now.

I honestly know nothing about it. It was terribly glued and screwed to the front facia when I bought it. Looks great though!

I ordered a few options on ebay, I was between these or doing 240z style fender mirrors. I thought these looked better on the z31. I honestly don't really recommend them, they were hard to install nicely and needed to be modified a bit to even be functional. Guess I messed it up LOL

I ended up pulling the dash and rebuilding the heater box as 3 of the vacuum actuators were shot and the heater core was leaking. But pumping some vacuum to it some how brought the electronics back from limp mode lol

Wow!!! This is what I was waiting for! What a difference..turned out amazing!!

It's a gloss clear coat but I haven't wet sanded and buffed it yet. That's why it looks like that. Bumpers were already painted, so shouldn't need any extra bonding there.

The whole car should have been shot in sealer, and high build primer! I am guessing you just used a rattle can primer over the bare metal areas and it shows. It looks dull and orange peel because you were pushing to much air pressure and likely your fan pattern was way to wide through your harbor freight paint gun. The clear was atomizing before it hit the car. It looks exactly like one of the first paint jobs I did on a 1989 Supra I did 20 years ago. You need to wet sand the entire car and clear it again for any real shine. This literally is everything you should not do but At least it is one color!

I'm pretty sure it was Duplicolor brand Performance Red. It should be in stock at any O'Reilly or Autozone.

I thought the project was pretty much done for a while till I tried to turn the heat on... didn't work. Then I started tinkering with it and found a leaky heater core 😂😂😭. Looks like the dash is coming out now. The fun never ends lol
