Where did you order that boot for the throttle body intake? I just got my 300zx and my boot is cracked like that too and running rough but I don’t even know what to call that piece or where to order it from
@@WTFPerformanceShow thanks I tried sealing it off with duct tape just to see if that would get it running a little better but it didn’t seem to help at all. That’s just one of many issues with it but I got a good deal for the car so I’m okay with it
@@WTFPerformanceShow actually yeah I just went back out there and tried it again with the worm clamps tightened down as much as they could and it cleared up the rough idle and stalling for the most part. Now to figure out why the transmission is so sluggish but I just checked the fluid and it looks like it’s overfilled so I’m gonna try draining some out to see if it gets any better
Wow, it looks like you’re using all the old bushings that’s gonna be a big mistake. Those things are cheap. Why not replace them when you have it all in pieces
@@WTFPerformanceShow Thank you! Do you often put bangers like this in your videos? I randomly came across your video and watched because I found the frame rebuild interesting.
@TheREALJosephTurner I try to find the bangers and have a few that I personally love and use more often than not. I use a lot of 80s synth music, seems to be my theme haha
i don't get it .... why didn't you clean those parts ..... you clean every other parts ..... that bothers me ..... i'm not going to watch no more ..... trash the car
For the problem with speaker wires in the GLL, I also have a gll and the conclusion I came to was that the negatives and positives are tapped into eachother somewhere ubder the carpet and those spots were different between the years I believe too
Also if u take the og speaker wire where they come out at the door on the driver side and tap them in to the new wire at the end the speakers will work and it’ll still have bitchin betty
Have you heard of any issues with the Ethanol based fuels we have causing poor perfrmance, hesitancy, acceleration issues? Back in 1984, there was no ethanol in unleaded gasoline. Let me know if you have heard anything.
Oh there are a ton of issues with ethanol in fuel. Mostly from what I can tell come from sitting of long periods of time. Green corrosion and junk forms in fuel tanks and carburetors. Gotta flush it out if you let it sit. Otherwise seems to provide a TON of performance benefits. Lower cylinder temps, high octane ratings, less detonation, but you also need a lot more fuel than gasoline to get the benefits too.
Here's something for you- if it's anything like my 87 turbo, you're gonna need NA front spindles for the new shocks. When I switched to KYBs all around I completely ignored the adjustable wiring and it was noooo problem. You can also clean up the engine bay x a million and this car feels AMAZING with the power steering delete- if that's your thing. Not for everyone 🤷♂️ If you ever swap to a 5 spd the NA trans is 100% fine, just be sure to shave the casting a bit to clear the turbo clutch assembly
I had a 1984 300 2+2 it was awesome...non turbo but i felt so cool in it... Yours is so awesome, its a Timeless way ahead of its time car!... Your wife is awesome, she adores you and your talent
I'm sure it was a mixture of local parts stores, eBay, and Rock Auto. These old cars are getting hard to find parts for so you just get the parts from whoever has got them lol
How did LED's hold up over the last year or so? I've wanted to swap the incan's out for LED just to help reduce drop-voltage on the system but a lot of the lower cost LED's aren't heatsinked very well at all and I don't wanna have to replace anything that I already replaced lol
You are definitely right about them failing often. It's hard to just how much to spend on them. These did well but I have since sold the car so I honestly don't know how they held up. They were actually pretty easy to access and the cluster only has three of them for back lighting, and two more in the compass and g-meter, which again, are not to hard to access.
The rough starting etc is due to the cylinder head temperature sensor. They either malfunction and detect too hot or too cold resulting in the sputtering after starting until the measurement balances out.
Still alive 😂 Had to do the work grind for a bit. Planning to get new videos out in the spring. It's pretty cool that some people are missing us. Thanks for the support!
I’m gonna have to follow just for more videos on this Z. I’ve owned two. And 87 and 89. Amazing cars. Fun video you made. You can tell you love the car.
I have heard the fuel sender gets dirty and can be brought back to life with a little cleaning. There is also a module under the dash to the right of the steering wheel that could be faulty. Check out xenonzcar.com he has some INSANELY useful info to keep these cars on the road and he has a write up about cleaning that fuel level sender.
@@WTFPerformanceShow I willl cheat this out ASAP thanks for replying i just got my Z over two months ago its in mint condition but has alot of little stuff to be worked on for some reason when i have the AC on the temp goes very high and i also think i have a vacuum leak by the dash which making the car hesitate which one time it shut off on me while driving
Yea, that vacuum leak is pretty common. Mine had multiple leaky blend door actuators. The repairs can be a little tricky, but I used Dorman replacement parts for a Jeep cherokee, and a little tinkering got them all fixed. There is a vacuum line for the hvac on the fire wall passenger side near the engine. You can try disconnecting that line and plugging it to see if the vacuum leak goes away. If your vacuum pump runs every few seconds, that's a pretty good indication of a leak somewhere.
@@WTFPerformanceShow Okay i will try doing that im not very hands on like you but i will try i want my car to be 100 percent i am not happy or sleeping good at night till its 100 percent lol
@@WTFPerformanceShow yeah for real, we think the fuel pressure regulator went out, cause rn it had a idle issue n would stall out from time to time, but yeah, we also got it a fuel filter just in case
It's got a fresh pump and that was a fresh filter lol didn't touch the regulator. Another subscriber recommended doing an ignition upgrade with some newer nissan parts. Look into that, might help.
@@WTFPerformanceShow do you know if it ever had a recall for its fuel injectors? cause we just replaced the fuel pressure regulator and the filter, and the filter had some rust in it from the fuel tank starting to rust. but it didn’t fix the problem of it stalling out, give it some throttle and then stalls and when driving it cuts the boost and won’t go past 3000 rpms, any idea what it could be ?
I only had it for about 6 months. Rescued it from a storage unit after getting its t tops smashed and radio/cats stolen. I have no clue about the injectors. It ran great when I had it. The only weird thing is did was a random hard start that required you to Rev it up and clear it out before it would return to normal running and idle.
This reminds me of when my Z was towed to my house . I didn't run for 10 years then one day we got it running and daily driven . now it has issues again 4 years later lol!
