Cody, my father was a FORD man for many years! He even went to a community college to become a FORD mechanic and he had all the books that they provided with all the specs for any kind of work that needed to be done on the board back in the 60s! Now my father is going to be turning 90 in December he will drive a foreign car to save money on gas. Needless to say he’s come a long ways since the 60s. Call me daddy‘s little girl as I was back then. Looking forward to the next interview with the in depth gentleman who helped make this conversion! 👍👍👍👍

Great move on the van retrofit. Staying with Ford OEM parts will most likely pay for the update in the long run. Have fun with it.

Looks really good! Probably wouldn't hurt to add a front diff skid plate and a t-case skid plate!

a good heavy bash plate of 1/2 inch steel. protect those vital components from damage that will leave you stranded if you ground out hard on a rock or something.

I can’t even remember what got me started watching wranglerstar videos it was probably something to do with off grid living. It’s amazing to see the transformation he has gone through with his success. I hope to mirror it somehow someday.

Next thing Mr. Cody. You need a perforated bash plate for the transfer case, when the snow and dirt, and you run on gravel road there at the homestead, you will soon have stones from the tires hit it and worst case you crack it, Sir. Just ahead up there Cody, as a bash plate is cheaper to get installed than a purchasing a new transfer case.

In the UK you can buy a Transit like this direct from Ford Special Projects, Allot of the Mountain Rescue Teams run 4x4 Transits.

Red pilled patriot the majority of the places I need to go are dirt roads, dirt fields, fire access roads, muddy fields, icy roads, icy mountain passes and such. 4x4 is welcomed in these places. Ground clearance is also welcome. I don't need a rock crawler and I don't want a street queen. These are in the middle.

Red pilled patriot that's my #1 choice. A Taco with a 4wheel pop up camper. Small light comfortable and affordable. A 4x4 truck and a camper is probably half the price of a 4x4 van.

Sweet! Don't forget to get a BFG spare, as it is a different size than the O.E tire, then sell those Continentals on craigslist to offset some of the tire cost.

I couldn't agree more. Ford does make some of the best trucks. I currently drive a 1978 F-100 2wd pickup with the 300-6. You can't kill an inline engine. I also have a 1979 F-350 4x4 that I am doing up as a project truck. The F-100 has a 4 spd manual transmission and the 4x4 is getting a 4spd manual.

Also I'd suggest if you're tall, the Transit has the tallest internal height. I'm 6'4" (193cm) and have ceiling and floor insulation, and still don't hit my head. All other vans, even with the high tops, are too low.

I’m curious to know how much you saved with an aftermarket 4 x 4 system vs buying a van with a Mercedes 4 x 4 from the factory? Is there advantages to the aftermarket system over Mercedes-Benz? Where is the rear differential a ford part? Cool van! The workmanship looks very good!

Not sure why I bother asking a question tbh, in the 5 or so years I have been watching wranglerstar videos I don’t think I have ever had a single acknowledgment let alone an actual response. I get they have a lot of subscribers but I have commented many many times in the past, they have even “liked or loved” comments right before mine and straight after so maybe I have offended in some way?

Instead of air bags look into Timbren or sumo springs. A progressive spring that replaces the bump stop, fits tight when unloaded, with no ride balance change. They stop the sag when you load the truck. I love mine.
