I get more information online from medical doctors; than I ever did by "chatting" for 2 minutes with my Primary Care Doc. The current medical system is obsolete when it comes to nutrition and metabolism. I always end up educating my poorly informed doctor about current studies.

Right! I hate those (obviously legally and ethically necessary) disclaimers on the internet saying “talk to your doctor about this!” I can rarely get doctors to engage in conversation with me let alone give me more than a shrug or a generic response when I have questions about supplements and nutrition. They won’t even answer my questions about potential biomechanics causing my pain. Plus it’s hard to see some doctors regularly, so you really have to make your own choices in your care rather than wait 3 months to ask a question about a supplement or conservative treatment method.

My Dr said he is a western man. There's no proven studies that support vitamin supplements work. If there's no study, he don't believe in it. My neurologist says that's not true. Some vitamins he suggest I take for neuropathy are helping me. I feel doctors must get some type of deal prescribing some of the medicines out there.

I am in UK, trying to see a doctor is near impossible. I have seriously considered an Ouji board to contact him that way. I have peripheral neuropathy, unfortunately I have medication for my heart which are sensitive to many of supplements. Turmeric is one I cannot take. I have not heard of ALA so I will check that out. This was still interesting. Good luck to you all.

4.3.2024 --- I was diagnosed with PN in 2016. It is really terrible. I feel the most pain when I go to bed. Sleeping with socks on helps alot. I'm on a lot of gabapentin. and just added amitriptyline. Which still isnt' helping. By Living is the suburbs and not doing a lot of walking I didn't know how bad it was until I went on a trip to Europe. The guide asked could we all walk about 20 minutes and we said yes. Well almost 3/4 into the walk the pain in my feet was unbearable. I was holding up the tour. Fast forward to a cruise. I rented a scooter and that was the best thing ever. -- My cousin just told me about ALA yesterday and here it is in your video. She said it helped her alot. 10:31 She also said to take it with B complex. I'm going to try it.

I want to thank you for taking the time to make this video. I’ve been battling/ researching idiopathic PN in my toes for little over a year and a half now and this is the best information I’ve seen to date…. I’ve been trying the 600 mg of ALA for the last 6 months and I think it is has slowly reduced the severity of the burning sensation… its hard to say for sure because my symptoms only present if I’m active or I simply let my feet get to warm which means replicating the environmental conditions is difficult to control for… however taking a warm shower isn’t as bad as it once was…plus they seem to recover more quickly now.. but then again I’m now taking 75mg of Lyrica daily which has made a huge improvement in reducing the peak pain levels. I’m going to look into those supplements and boost my fish intake as well. If you ever have the time, I love to see a video explaining the connection between PN and hyperthyroidism…I see it often listed as a cause but I don’t understand the connection and most of the doctors I’ve spoken to seem to think there’s a connection in my situation…

I take the R-ALA version (Immunovites brand off Amazon) But .... I cannot take more than 300mg at a time without feeling sick. After watching this video I plan to take 300mg twice a day. I take the other items mentioned in this video, along with Benfotiamine, as someone else mentioned here. When I added in Lions Mane about a month ago, the pain in my feet went from about a 7 to a 4. (DoubleWood brand) I had felt like the ball of my left foot had a marble under it when I walked. I no longer feel that. I went to the VA hospital in St Pete, FL this morning to see the Neurologist about my peripheral neuropathy. He prescribed Topamax, which has been around for many years. He is starting me on a very low dose to see if that is all I need. He appreciates all the natural supplements route, and he is going to look into Lions Mane for himself and his other patients. Lions Mane has growth hormones, and can heal nerves.

@toddmayer6859
@toddmayer6859 Месяц назад
@@craigmichelson8552 great question. I actually get serious heartburn if I take ALA or the better version, R-ALA on an empty stomach. I can take 600mg as long as I take it immediately after eating a meal. I had been taking just 300mg at a time due to the heartburn issue. Funny thing about taking a lot of supplements for a given issue like peripheral neuropathy .... when you feel a lot better, you can't say which supplement actually helped! All I can say is that I was taking R-ALA for several weeks, and had not noticed a significant change. My feet still hurt. Then I added DoubleWood brand of Lions Mane, and within about two weeks the pain was about 50% less, and about two weeks beyond that, I could actually walk fast again through the store and elsewhere. Today it is something like 80 to 90% better than it was about two months ago. I have also been doing some exercises that are supposed to help. Basically you are seated on a chair, and then lift just your toes for about a count to 10 or 20. You then lift you heel, keeping toes on floor, and again, for a count from 10 to 20. The other exercise is with legs extended, and with heels on floor, point toes away from you in a stretch. You can stretch out fingers / arms at the same time. Again a count of 10 to 20. Then point toes towards you, same count ... and can make hands into a fist. I've been doing those exercises along with all the supplements. So maybe it all works together

I take R-ALA and Benfotiamine, along with B-12/B-6 and the other supplements mentioned in the video. I've also gone keto and started taking Berberine to get my insulin and blood glucose levels down. The neuropathy has definitely improved! I think each one of these things (plus a few other supplements I'm taking) are all working together to help my overall health because I feel much better, I actually have the energy to exercise, and have lost about 20 pounds. BTW, if you're not familiar with Berberine, I encourage you to research it, because it has many health benefits, and hyperinsulinemia over many years is why many people end up with NP in the first place. So it can help address what may be the root problem, at least for some people. I also saw one person in the comments mentioned they've seen noticeable results adding Lion's Mane, which I've actually recently been reading about, so I think I will try adding it to the mix!
