the fact that omega moonphase has actual NASA photo on their moonphase and also have an easter egg with Neil Armstrong's footprint on the moon (in macro shot you can see it), is such a beautiful small detail and so geeky its amazing. I love it
Christian bagged the shit out of the Laureato in one episode...glad you're coming around my guy. This was the watch that came out after the RO but before the Nautilus and the 222...I think it deserves some historical recognition. I think GP will continue to go up...great value at the moment.
Looking forward to the live stream. My question relates to watch selling. I have recently started to get into the vintage watch flipping game, as you all have much more experience in this I figured I would ask for some advice. are there certain watches that you have noticed tend to have a shorter turnover time? What is a mistake that you made when you were just starting out that you would caution me to avoid?
Looking forward to more events during the summer! My job switches to day shift so I’d love to meet up with some fellow watch people and learn more than I ever could from a book or a video.
I would like a moon phase eventually, for sure. Probably my favorite complication. For me it's about landscape photography. That's one of my biggest passions/hobbies (I say this while I'm visiting the Faroe Islands for photography!) and that's the closest complication I can equate to that hobby. As a photographer, I'm frequently looking to include the moon in my photographs, and it's best when it's a full moon. If there are other photography related complications, I'd love to know of them! Seems like it'd be a great marriage; watches and photography. Moon phase and "explorer"/ranger types are the ones that best come to mind, but the photography linkage is basically non-existent.
Question for the stream- What are your thoughts on gold plated/gold filled watch cases? Are they a part of vintage case manufacturing history or simply a cheap alternative to solid gold and should be avoided? I'm currently looking into buying a King Seiko 56KS (specifically a gold plated one) and want to hear your thoughts. Looking forward to tonight!
I believe the Chopard comes in a 36mm not 38mm. The Girard Perregaux Laureato Skeleton is only offered in 42mm only (The website is confusing). Happy to be corrected. Sorry for being pedantic. Agree with all of Christian's picks for 2022. Love tuning into your channel, keep it up guys.
Question for the whatnot, what do you feel is a better watch 3861 hesalite omega speedmaster or tudor gmt? My collection is a lot of black dial plain color watches already
At some point, many major watch brands had origins as a scrappy upstarts. Are there any micro brands or small independents (I'm excluding Haute Horology) that you could see standing the test of time and becoming one of the bigger brands? Thanks for all the content.
That VC looks like they've been checking out the Zenith Defy catalog. Really surprised the Cartier Masse Mystérieuse didn't make the list. That watch is phenomenal.
One thing I've never understood with the constant force idea - doesn't the time it takes to charge the small spring change depending on the energy stored in the main spring?
I love the LOOKS of moonphase watches. For me, the problem is I wear my watches in rotation and let's say I wear a moonphase watch on Monday but then don't wear it again till , let's say, the next week on Wednesday. It's stopped and I have to reset the watch and the moonphase complication...which is a pain in the arse to do on any of the ones I've worn/had/seen in person.
I think Tissot is on a tear right now. Obviously the PRX was a hit and they capitalized on it very well. I love that they’ve introduced a 35mm version. If they release a powermatic 80 version of thr 35mm how well do you think that would perform? I for one am a little biased and would be getting one immediately!
If you hold a gp in your hand , you will understand why the delta :p but 2 years these watches can be bought with 25% discount....now there is a waiting list especially for the blue face lol.
The VC is the number one on my list. As expensive as it is, unfortunately availability is next-to-impossible. Only reserved for VC's existing and best customers.
The delta between a Datejust and a Laureato is the same explanation as the delta between Laureato and the Royal Oak. In fact, I think the RO has more explaining to do.
Why are vintage watches so much thinner than modern watches? It seems like the technology would be able to progress but it seems modern pieces keep getting thicker and thicker.
GP Laureato is actually a great watch. In-house movements, beautiful dials, well finished integrated bracelet. Maybe some Rolex/AP/PP fanboys just can’t stand other watch brands gaining attention and rising in value.
How can you ever want a Girard? It looks like a watch that was drawn up as a joke! Nautilus bracelet + Royal Oak case. Not buying the “I don’t feel safe” story.
@@mattlambert5079 idk if he pumps it but I do think he views it as the next big thing and tries to push it. Technically he is pumping a bit but I think he actually likes the GP and he’s not just blowing smoke to make a couple sales.
@@Joebo31 I didn’t say he is, I said he didn’t seem like the type who would. However, they said a “RU-vid personality” is buying up GP’s and then hyping them. All I’m trying to do is connect the dots here…
@@mattlambert5079 ya I’m just agreeing but I wouldn’t be surprised if they are referencing. I just was saying he likely is pumping but I think the pumping is not from a place of malice
One million dollars doesn't get you this collection. It doesn't get you a one bedroom in Santa Cruz California either. If I'm being honest, I'd take the watches over the property.
Video should have been called 5 watches thst aren’t Rolex and are better but cost tens of thousands of dollars so you’ll never be able to obtain these either.
The GP is an amazing watch, but the thing is, if you really, really, really, desperately want the AP, it will probably fall short for you. Just our kooky and irrational watch proclivities at work.
NOOO watchmaker or genuine watch enthusiast wears skeletons or ceramics or f-in "pandas". WE who actually can regulate a hair coil/balance spring wear time & day/date only. ALL those other product are made to cater "youtubers" and "producers" who can recite every single reference number there is but don´t even know the difference between a main spring barrel and a chines spring roll.
