I started following Dr. Berg in September, 2020. I was 330 pounds, 6’ 4”. My leg was swelling, I had acid reflux, on two blood pressure pills and 2 Cholesterol pills. I started fasting and I cut out carbs, I worked into a 24 hour fast . This morning I weighed out at 245 pounds, no swelling, no acid reflux and the doc and taken me off 1/2 my meds. He is impressed. Thanks for the info Dr. Berg.
@@HustleVibe I carry my weight around my neck and belly. I have a little loose skin on my neck but a small amount on my belly. I went from a 44” waist to a 38. I was able to pull out some old jeans that I had from years ago a wear them.
I was tired and was feeling a scratchy throat also so I started prolonged fast immediately and within 2 days completely recovered. I knew right away what to do and discipline comes easy when you know you're going to win! Al thanks to years with Dr Berg.
I dry fast when I get sick at 16-18 hours I start to feel better. At 20 hours I feel a lot better and break my fast around 24 hours. I am no longer sick only a bit tired which I take as my body wanting to rest to repair.
Thanks brother! I needed this. I recently compounded my fasting for autoimmune with a severe drop in potassium. Electrolyte powder arriving today. Scraping the ACV. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge! Peace and blessings!
I think this video just saved my life! Goal to do 5 day fast. Doing just a 24 hour fast right now. But I have eaten high carb after a long fast before. Thank you for educating me Dr.
I was doing a 20:4 fasting 6 days into it, just as I had fasting like 19hrs my body started feeling shaky, my breathing changed almost felt like a was choking, had to quickly take nuts, please anyone with help of what this means?
I started fasting for 8 hours in between the two meals and it feels like I could go longer but I have no idea how people can fast for 16 or double that or even 7 days. That sounds crazy to me :D.
The last video Dr Berg said eat a small salad, 3 hours later 3 oz of cheese then wait 3 hours have an egg. I just shopped for berries and cheese ...now what??
I have 1,5 hours to go to complete my first 72 hour fast. But since it is 9.30 pm by that time, I will extend it to the next day and eat in the morning, so it will be a total of 82 hours.
I'm just starting my 72 hour fast lol, my last meal was like 8 hours ago. Thankfully I've been doing OMAD for almost a week before so I'm already used to IF and low carb.
0:04 Prolonged fasting is one of the most important things you can do for your health, for your ability to avoid cancer, for anti-aging, for straightening your immune system, for your brain to grow brain cells, for any type of chronic health condition that involves inflammation like auto-immune disease, like celiac and digestive inflammatory diseases. Prolonged fasting just takes your health results to the next level. It's wayyy more powerful than even regular intermittent fasting. 1:01 Things you need to know when you do prolonged fasting: 1:20 Mistake #1 - Breaking your fast with carbs 4:14 Mistake #2 - Doing intense exercise or a lot of physical work 5:05 Mistake #3 - Overeating after a prolonged fast 6:33 Mistake #4 - Consuming apple cider vinegar coming off of a prolonged fast 7:21 Mistake #5 - Consuming protein powders
Eating raw vegetables like greens containing insoluble fiber to break a very long fast is way too hard on the digestive system especially raw veggies. That could actually put you in the hospital. Well cooked vegetables with soluble fiber that are easy to digest like potato well pureed in a soup broth with egg is easy on the system I would ignore his non excercise recommendation if you do not have a medical condidtion. The body was designed for survival to daily hunt with intensity for food while being without it for many days or even weeks.
I ate 26th December then only ate after new year’s eve! It was a 5 day and 10 hours fast, my third prolonged fast ever! Thanks to it I found out I had a magnesium and potassium deficiency which was augmented by the fast. Upon supplementing, my gut distention is way better and now I can feel pleasure again sometimes! Huge breakthrough for me. Fasting is amazing 🙌🏻
@@onBview potassium I used a NoSalt brand from here (0mg sodium -- 490mg potassium per 1g) and magnesium from the supermarket, its magnesium malate but it works, I've heard citrate is better, its on dr bergs formula.
Wicked timing!! I’m on the last day of my first ever three day fast and feel great. Didn’t think I could do it but I dug DEEP and am stronger for it. Thank you so much Doc you have been a wonderful teacher. 💪🏾
I’m 10 days in! Blood glucose has flatlined at about 85, and blood ketones have gone from 0.1, to 4.4 ( my highest ever on a 72 hr fast) to 7.1. Not hungry and feeling great, down 20 pounds at this point- gonna go for 14 days💪🏻
I wish I had known about adding salt etc. when doing a prolonged fast. I grew up fasting as a kid when we were sick- we did it because we lived on a farm and thats what animals do when they're sick. And it makes sense- every symptom is the body saying "don't eat please!" (food tastes bland because your nose is congested, your throat is sore, etc. etc.) It was hard- as a kid people thought my parents were psycho but now I see how ahead of the times they were. I never had to take antibiotics once. And I rarely got sick. But when I was 14 I got Scarlet Fever and fasted for almost three weeks on just water. But the beautiful thing is that at the end you can tell that you body truly "fought" the virus or bacteria and therefore the immune system evolved or adapted! Meaning that then you don't get recurring infections (such as Strep throat which people tend to get repeatedly) Last year I had covid and fasted for 10 days (on just water). The beautiful thing is when you get to the end of being sick you feel like your body has cleaned up all the house keeping it hasn't gotten to do when you're normally eaten. So when you fast when you get sick (which feels natural anyway) you can see that being sick is actually perhaps part of how we stay healthy in a larger sense.
I am currently 36 hours into my first fast. Feeling great! I’m going to start implementing fasting into my life a lot more. Not just for health but to grow in my walk with God. I’m currently 218lbs and want to downsize. I love working out but the diets always been a battle lol. I’m feeling excited to make some healthy changes. Thank you to everyone on the comments for your personal journeys there are tons of encouraging testimonies. And thank you Dr. For these great videos and giving us your wisdom. We got this!! Good luck to everyone on making these changes and adding fasting to your life. :)
Lets go brother! I've cracked 48 hours today and I dont know for how long will I go, plan for now is 3 more days. I've allready did 7 days in 2019 and it was amazing.
This is going to be my first fast. I just ate the last food in my house and won't eat anything else for the rest of the day. Hopefully I can do 3 days 🙏🏽. I plan to break my fast with some chicken/veggie broth. Thank you for your testimonials
For some spiritual reason, God is very attracted to those who fast... He gives us clearer understanding of His Words, easily win against our weakness and personal temptations, and most importantly, God answers most prayers during a fast... Keep going brother and God bless!
Started at 220lbs, I’ve done a 6 day, 10 day and several 48 hour fasts…getting ready to do another. I’m down to 171! 48 lbs gone! Love this program! Diets in the past had me thinking about food 24/7, especially when you have to plan your 6 mini meals…so difficult and fell off the program so many times. This feels right…more natural to my body…thanks!
A year ago, I was 375lbs. I weighed in at 331 a few days ago. That’s when I decided to take it to the next level and start doing Intermittent fasting via The Doc. So excited to see where I’m at in a year! Update (April 25, 2023): I just weighed in at 270lbs at my doc appt today! Goal is 250, then eventually 200. I feel great, especially looking back at pictures and videos from a year ago). Don’t give up, y’all!
Thats great news Jeffery ! I lost about 90 lbs. Keto and fasting is the proper way for us big guys. You're going to be amazed at how easy it gets with fasting. More good success to ya sir. ;)
I fasted for 5 weeks, first two weeks was a juice fast made up of just fruit and vegetable combinations I enjoyed. I followed it with a 3 week water fast. Yes I ate no solids for 5 weeks. I worked out 5 days a week while I did it. I started at 475 lbs and ended at 270. Obviously this was only possible because I had so much reserve but fasting is to this day my go to reset button.
Congratulations. I’m on Day 4 of 40 day water fast. I think my keto history made the hard phase at the beginning a lot easier to deal with, because yesterday around lunch, I started feeling better. And today, I’m pretty much back to normal when I was eating. You use any salts etc? Any advice?
I had a severe inflammation problem in my hands feet and face. I also had other odd symptoms. My doctors suspected it was either lupus, Lyme, diabetes, or some other condition but they could never diagnose me. I tried many treatments and home remedies that didn't help. The doctor's wanted to put me on steroids and I didn't want that. I became desperate for relief so I tried a 3 day fast and for the first time in months I had zero inflammation! I have been doing 3 day fasts now every 1-2 months and I've lost 20 pounds and I feel great.
Currently 9 days into my 10 days fast, water, electrolytes and sea salt only. Feeling good. Bursitis in my heel is gone. Lost 15 pounds! Thanks Dr. B for the encouragement.
Why would you take salts and electrolytes. I have done multiple 40 day fasts and other long fasts. I just drink water. Anyway, well done on 9 days (thus far).
I think best reason to do a longer fast (like a week of just water) is the experience that will change you forever and make you look very differently at whatever short fasting regime you are planning to do. Skipping a breakfast will no longer look like a problem after you have experienced a week of no calories. For me it was observing how you first get hungry but then the hunger passes (which is super strange), the feeling of lightness and clarity throughout the fast (totally unexpected -- I thought I will be sluggish and hard to focus) and then the feeling of breaking the fast as a nuisance (I thought breaking the fast will be something I will be looking to but the opposite was true).
So far I've done multiple 3-4 day fasts and refeed with healthy vegetables. I'll get to a week eventually... Just makes me nervous I'll randomly faint at work when everyone around me keeps telling me how "unnatural it is" while I'm melting these lbs away.
@@krishuntzeroable First 3-4 days are the hardest, then it gets much easier. Also, I found that starting with keto for a week makes transitioning to complete fast almost painless. Based on a sample of one:)
eating raw vegetables after a long fast as he seems to recommend is too hard on the digestive system. That could actually put you in the hospital. It's better to eat things that are easily digested and well cooked like potato or other well cooked vegetables cremed in a soup broth with eggs. And slowly over a few days introduce more solid food
@@krishuntzeroable I know, and the more amazing you tell them u feel, the more worried they get. It drives me mad, not one person either has tired it, or even research any current studies.
Prolonged fasting Notes: 1. Break fast without the carbs, includes fruits and berries. 2. No intense exercise immediately after prolonged fast. 3. No over eating once you decide to break fast (digestive process not prepared for onslaught; eat very small amounts hours apart on day one and build up). 4. No apple cider vinegar 5. No protein powders
I've seen videos where they say that after a prolonged fast you can have a tablespoon of ACV in water with bi-carb soda followed by some lemon juice to bring back some of the stomach acid so u can better digest your meal.
I water fasted for 30 days last year and I couldn't believe how good I felt afterwards. My skin was so healthy coming out of it and I lost about 30lbs. Best thing I ever did. I wish I can do it again. Food temptation was real during my fast.
@Cool New York I literally fasted for 30 days straight, no food at all, only water and vitamins. When fasting for 16 hours and eating within a certain window, it's intermittent fasting. I think the results are better when you fast for days instead of hours, though. You'll feel and see the difference.
@@marvan916 ok thanks. But when you do eat do you continue the 16 hr fasting after the meal you ate or still after the 6hr window break? Because what if you eat your meal only 3hrs into the break
@Cool New York its really up to you if you want to eat just once or if you want 2 meals within that 6 hr window. I think eating once is good and then you can restart the 16 hr fasting again. But having 2 meals is ok too. Just make sure you don't over eat lol. I make that mistake all the time.
That's fantastic! Congratulations! Dr. Berg would love to hear about your success! Please use this link to upload your story: www.drberg.com/add-client-success-story Dr. Berg's Support Team.
Hi, I'm 69 and have been trying to follow as much as I can, fasting each day for around 16 hrs, and cutting out all sugar I can, and without really trying I've lost 12lbs...very grateful...also I have a cystoscopy every year due to cancer 15 yrs ago and my bladder was very inflamed, but 3 months later I had another cystoscopy after IF and it had completely gone away...👍
Great info watched on my 7+ day extended fast. I had been doing acv morning and night but will stop now thanks to your mention. Never had a problem with it but ketones are at 4.7 last night so great timing Dr Berg! Thank you for your great information and products!
Can we drink fresh lemon juice in water in the morning when we're doing prolonged fasting? UPDATE ON THAT QUESTION: I got the answer I was looking for in "Acceptable liquids during fasting: Complete list" video, and the answer is: Yes, you can. Thanks Dr Berg
Currently in the last few hours of my 3 day fast and I feel just fine! This is my longest fast so far so I'm trying to figure out what works for me. Thanks the tips doc!
Doctor, I had the most amazing fast by keeping my gut biome barely crawling along for about 10 days. I ate maybe 200 calories a day. The best food. Walnuts, asparagus, tomato with parmesan, etc. No carbs, weed, wine or coffee. It was the most amazing high ever. It was an all natural euphoria. Even my eyesight improved.
How blessed are we to have your knowledge and expertise Dr. Berg. I go to you for every question, family and friends throw my way and forward, as necessary. ❤🙏
Thank you so much Dr. Berg! I was told about 6 years ago I had gestational diabetes ..went to a nutritionist and followed the diet to a T my glucose stayed high my whole pregnancy even though they kept upping my medication ..I never went back to the dr, to check my glucose but one day I felt horrible so I used one of my old test strips and it read 443 ..I called my Dr ... My A1c was 12.6 ..I had pain all over a bump on the back of my neck, I became over weight and felt like I couldnt move around for long or my heart would feel like it was going to come out of my chest..urinating about every hour ..I felt like I was going to die .. I saw one of your videos not long after being diagnosed ..I started a very low carb diet, stopped both meds they put me on for diabetes and now am able to fast and I mostly eat OMAD ..My A1c is now 5.2,no pain and have more energy then I know what to do with ..I went from a size 12 to a size 6 Almost down to a size 4! Thank you soooo much for all your videos !!! I have not felt this good since I was a teenager ..
How are you going to have low potassium? I break my fast of 20 hrs with Potatoes 🥔 and Spinach and eggs.! When Potatoes and Spinach have tones of Potassium??? Actually potatoes might have more potassium pounds for Pounds than anything I know!! ????

I was told I'd be dead in a year. I stopped eating for three months and lost 100 pounds. That was when I was 27. I am 53 soon. By the time I truned 30 I became a full blown alcholic, 60 of vodka a day. I was waitng to die. 20+ years Realized I gained all the weight back. A year ago I got into root veggies. Ginger and tumeric. Tsp of each to start 3 times a day. Along with cinnimon homemade Capsules. I also do pepper Cayenne pepper, Coriander. Odorless 2000 mg garlic pill.. Outside of the garlic pill the rest was done 3 times A-day. Now I only have to do it once.I've lost a 100 pounds. I have kind of cut out bad carbs and fats. But I no longer have neuropathy. It regulates my insulin and gut health. It helps with cholesterol. God-bless and good luck, XXXO
I started intermittent fasting for sibo, and I'm on day 3- I actually started to feel better. Stomach feels so much better while not eating, and food just melts in my mouth when I can eat haha. Hunger is the best sauce. Thanks for all your wealth of knowledge , its helping so many people.
You are a life saver Doctor Berg. Based on your videos, I changed my life two years ago. This video is another example of your expertise. I did exactly what you said to not do and had sushi to break my 72 hour fast. Felt really sick. Now I know.
I'll consider this once I up my IF to 20h regularly. Tbh, one big resistance I'm gonna face is the people around me telling me I'm crazy and I should eat or otherwise I won't have energy etc, etc. But I'll be evidence against that.
Can relate . You can avoid this by not telling them about your fast and if they ask "Why aren't you eating with us, etc" then just lie and say you already ate out or whatever. I made the mistake of telling them the first time and everyone made such a big deal about it
@@helena-ff3pi Yep. We have to remember, us doing IF (and even more with a prolonged one) attacks their own insecurity about their diet. People know when they're eating badly, even if they don't admit it. Inevitably, our fasting points to them being weak-minded (in that regard).
What's too much water? You supposed to be drinking 2-3 liters of water(about a gallon). You drank more than a gallon a day? I would like to know how drinking water ended you up in the ER. That sounds stressful especially during the body weak state. Do you mind sharing your story, even though it been a year?
My happy length is a 5 ½ day fast. I drink black coffee, take electrolytes and binders bentonite clay, diatomaceous earth and zeolite on the last day or two. 48 hours before breaking fast I roast grass fed beef bones to make a bone broth. I break fast with a bone broth stew of finely chopped organ meats and vegetables. My most dramatic improvement was focusing the stem cells through immediately starting a course of peptides BPC-157 and TB 500.
Started this keto diet last year at 368.0 on April 4th 2023, and today a year later (12 months 2 days) I weigh 194.6 lbs….keto plus a lot of 72 hour fasts (every week since July 2023 plus 3-4 7 day fasts. And i’m never starving or craving, in fact the best way to break a plateau in weight loss is no doubt to prolong fast for 72 hours which is nothing IF YOU ARE FAT ADAPTED.
I'm a big fan of intermittent fasting but I certainly think videos like this, which can highlight some of the potential risks, is a good thing. People need to understand the pros and potential cons so they can make an informed decision.
So glad I saw this video! I have had the flu all week, great time for a prolonged fast. I made several of these mistakes you mentioned when trying to reintroduce food. The next fast will go so much smoother. Thank you Dr Berg!
As a long time runner I’ve learned to slow down and enjoy a good walk, especially after a fast. I spent my 20s and 30s as a competitive runner and cyclist and now don’t feel guilty about slowing down a bit. I’m 56 now and know I still have some good years of running ahead of me and don’t feel the need to kill it every day. If you slow down and listen to your body, it will tell you when it’s ready for hard effort.
Over doing cardio is destructive and shouldn't be over done, much better small amounts of sprinting like exercise. Cardo tells the body to be more energy conserving, thin body, smaller heart, lungs, sprinting tells the body it needs more energy, stronger heart, bigger lungs, compare a sprinters body to a runners. Which is healthier
So I’m wondering what supplements are okay to take while water fasting? I purchased the bile salt and fish oil. I know that the fish oil is a no, but whenever I reintroduce calories into my diet, how long should I wait before adding something like fish oil and bile salts?
I try to take the following daily on my 12 day so far water fast if my Stomach feels up to it; 2 Tablespoons non fortified Nutritional Yeast, 2 Table Spoons Apple Cider Vinegar, D3 10,000 iu - 20,000, vitamin K-Mk7 100mcg-200mcg(100mcg per 10,000 iu D3), Zinc 25-50mg, Magnesium Glycinate(formed by combining elemental magnesium with the amino acid glycine) 200-400mg(400mg daily is the most recommended dose), Vitamin C 1000mg-2000mg, 1 Vitamin B12 Methylcobalamin, 4-1 Potassium & Pink Himalayan Salt. Magnesium does not agree with a lot of peoples stomachs. Can take tiny amounts throughout the day. I put 2 Tablespoons non fortified Nutrition Yeast in a coffee cup of Hot water with some sea salt and potassium(comes as a salt substitute from grocery store(contains 99% Potassium). Then I add 2 table spoons apple cider vinegar. I swallow my vitamins with some water 1st and then drink the non fortified Nutritional Yeast concoction. I put the 4-1 Potassium & Pink Himalayan Salt in 1 quart/Litre of water and leave it at room temperature and drink throughout day. I've watched many many of Doctor Berg's videos on fasting and Keto Diet. None of this is going to break a Fast. A few cups of Caffeinated coffee a day won't break a Fast either.
When I go on a fast it's not for any health reasons. It's because it's a brief respite from having to run the gauntlet of going out to select and buy the required organic food, prepare it (ignoring what Jamie Oliver says about it taking only 30 minutes), eat it and then face the pile of washing up afterwards. Multiply this three times each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and you'd be lucky if you can get enough time in to have a shower, cut your nails, trim your hair, wash your clothes, feed the cats and pay all the bills. So yep, fasting has got to be good at least for the mental health if nothing else, lol
I have done my first prolonged fast thanks to your last video about “ 7 days fast”. Very interesting experience, it got easier around the second day and I stopped end of third day but could have easily gone further.
If you break your prolonged fast or starvation too quickly or too suddenly then you could literally die. There were many such cases throughout history. I was also taken into the ER twice after breaking the fast by eating three full blown meals and then going for a jogging on the first day. My blood pressure, heart rate, and blood sugar levels skyrockets to the dangerous extremes. Nearly died. Breaking fast properly is the single most important thing when you fast.
I always last 3 days fasting, the first day i am hungry, the 2nd i feel amazing and no hunger at all. And the third day i feel super hungry and shaky and just can’t resist eating. Sometimes i make the mistake of exercising while doing and it makes things worse, now i know why LOL.
I broke my 30 day fast w soup veggies and fruit. Went straight to keto lifestyle and have never looked back. I suggest people listen to their own bodies and do what works for them. There is more than one way to do everything under the Sun. Best👍
Thank you dr. berg, you are a special person who literally deserves a presidential medal for what you do for people's health. Unfortunately that seems to be reserved for the pharmaceutical companies.
Just did my first fast and ended it at 60 hours due to lightheadedness. My goal had been 5 1/2 days. Ordered some electrolytes and will start again tomorrow after eating some no carb foods today. Great info doc!
It really makes sense that we lose our appetite when we have the flu, when we start fasting our bodies go into repair, so that’s our own body healing itself.
I fasted for a year or so. I didn't lose a bit of weight but I slimmed down. I found that very interesting. Then I took on a new job where I have to get up at 4 am every morning and I've done this for over 2 years now and it has reeked havoc on my weight and health because I can't fast like I use to :( I have tried my best to work different times but nothing works as well for me as 12-7/8pm with a family of 3 small boys. Even when I fasted all I thought about was food and when I could eat and when I had to eat next so that I wouldn't miss my fasting time at the end and I rushed a lot. I hated that feeling. Either way, I hope to get back on it again one day maybe when I have a normal schedule again. Thanks Dr. Berg for all your information!
I started IF + keto 13 days ago and I lost 11 pounds (4.9kg). I started with a keto challenge for the first 5 days and then started IF, since day 1 of IF I've been doing omad but not intentionally I just don't get hungry at all. Even on the keto challenge I wasn't feeling hungry or craving anything, not sure why but I like it haha, maybe I entered ketosis really fast
I'm on day 5 of my prolonged fast for immunological benefits. I've done 3 day fasts before but never longer than that. I'm guaging myself each day to see if my body can go on for more days (I'm hoping to make it to 7 days). I've been researching how to break my fast and this is the most informative and scientifically based video I've seen by far. Thanks Dr. Berg!
I been doing fast since march 2017 before i know there is a fasting, i was 130kg 1.90cm, for 4 months i lost 35 kg, my longest fasting was 12 days only water and coffee. Everybody can do it, just be strong !!!
This was very very helpful. I did a 21 day water fast and came off eating too many pickles carbs and meat. I ended up in urgency care due to severe edema. Thanks doc. Wish I had seen this earlier but now I know! 👍🏾
@@jerryigwe7684 weight loss and an overall health reset. The edema was a major distraction so I will make my way back up to no more than 7 days at a time for now. Thanks.
Please make sure you drink plenty of water and get enough electrolytes (Sodium, magnesium, potassium) during a prolonged fast. I was severely dehydrated when I began to eat after 72 hours, even though I didn't feel dehydrated. I felt very ill, heart was racing and I had awful diarrhea. I felt like I was dying.
Dr Berg I have a really good question which you could even do a video on! I’ve heard that eating carbs (glucose) is the worst thing to do if you have cancer because the cancer cells will feed on the glucose to survive and multiply. But I’ve also heard that your body MAKES its own glucose. So if you’re doing prolonged fasting etc to essentially starve those cancer cells, will your body inadvertently feed the cancer cells with any glucose it makes itself? Thanks :)
Dr Berg, do you have a 7 day list of foods to eat from morning to night? Your videos are helpful with fasting but I would like to know what to eat on a daily basis please. Thanks
I've done programs through MASF designed for fasting. Only using a small greens supplement. The healing aspects are unreal. I'm very overweight and , yes, there are tons of weight loss benefits. However the healing of the body is unreal. I like the 50 lb weight loss sure but the back pain goes away. My morning aches are gone. My energy is outstanding. We are biologically hunter-gatherers so it was interesting to read and learn that the "3 meals a day" is actually not natural for our make up.
I started long fasting for weight loss and here are my results: Day 1: i was about 86 - 87kg Day 3: i got down to 85kg and i was very happy with the results, it wasn't that hard for me to just stop eating weirdly! Day 5: it was the big surprise... i got down to 81.8kg!! What!!! 3.2kg in 2 day's?! Is that normal?! I decided to get my weight checked everyday just in case.. Day 6: i got down to 81kg, it was 0.8kg in 24h!!! I got little bit scared to continue even that i didn't arrived to my goal of 75kg. So i just stopped.. My remarks: - I felt like i was losing my power day after day, like i'm not getting my energy back, i was felling like i better do nothing all 6 days long - if i drink too much water i get diarrhea, but i felt thirsty most of the time - my mind was so clear and i really liked that I think that's all of my little experience even that it was very weird, but i'm definitely gonna do it again 🙌
The longest fast I've done is 7 days, and what I have learnt it's so incredibly important to have water with salt and also electrolytes. For me it maintains my energy and hunger. Also apple cider vinegar and activated charcoal really helps.💞🤓❤️
Lady did u even watch what he said? he literally said no acv before or after prolonged fasting, body gets acidic during fasting and adding acv doesn't help. He says to add baking soda instead. Please watch before u comment as it can create confusion among people.
Thank you, Dr. Berg! I've been low carb/keto for years but just late last year found out about "prolonged fasting". (I usually say "extended fasting".) I've been very pleased w/ the results, especially the increased insulin sensitivity. I usually feel better when I don't eat, is that normal? Thank you for all you do. Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!
A lot of what Dr. Berg says here reminds me of when the Allies liberated Nazi internment camps at the end of WWII. The GIs' first impulse was to start handing the prisoners all sorts of food since they were obviously starving. When the medics arrived they had to take away the food, although it was heartbreaking to do so, because they realized the harm cheese, bread, meat, etc. would cause to bodies that had been in a starvation state for months and even years. One of the episodes of "Band of Brothers" includes scenes dealing with this.
Made the mistake of lifting heavy on 4.5 days fasted. Strength was there but endurance and stamina was not. Felt drained the rest of the day. Never again will I do strenuous heavy lifting! I’ll stick to body weight exercises and low impact cardio!!
Ahaha. Coming out of 72h fasting, I've done immediately after 1 / 3 / 4 / 5. I love fasting, I do intermittent fasting every day for years, but all the restrictions around it like not eating too much, keto diet etc is too hard for me. Eating tiny meals without carbs is absolutely not how I want to live my life. It's very hard to find a proper balance in all that.
