This is a lovely video. I’m 8 months loc’d (my second set- I had the first set for 4 and a half yrs) and I can say that the first year is not about length at all... it’s all about the maturation of the loc. I think once you hit one year, THEN you start to notice growth abundantly.
Awww, thanks so much!!! Congratulations on your new set of locs 💖 I agree that I’m focusing on healthy locs more than length. Length will come 😊🥳 thanks for being here!!!
6 days into my loc journey my locs are budding. I have extremely coarse, African hair that doesn't fit into the 4c category. More like 4d. I have been touching my locs the whole day, feels so good to go through the stages and seeing your hair do things you never thought it could do. I never thought I'd see pregnant hair.
Same here! about a week after comb coils and two washes I’m getting budding can’t wait till they lock fully! Truly “nappy” 4c hair is perfect for dreads
I started my loc journey 3 weeks ago! At first I was ashamed of the shrinkage because I was use to shoulder length hair. I even thought about wearing wigs to hide my hair. My mom and sister who have shoulder length locs encouraged me not to. My husband told me he love my locs. So, I decided to enjoy the process & just let my hair grow on its on time. I enjoyed your video! You have a new subscriber!!
Hey beautiful!!!! I’m so glad you decided to embrace the journey 😍😍😍 I told myself the same thing at the beginning of my journey and decided to just embrace it all. You will move really quickly through the process and be happy you chose to let it all work itself out 🎉🥳 thanks so much for subscribing!!!
I started 13 October 2021 (10 days in) and honestly I do feel like I made the right decision. I originally wanted to have microlocs and have a goal of waist length. After talking to my stylist and examining my texture of hair we decided to go medium small traditional. Have 98 lovely twist. A lesson I’ve learned from my hair so far is that sometimes you have to do things in life with the end goal in mind and not about the instant gratification. I never wore my natural hair out before this (always protective styles) but when I tell you, each day I’m becoming more and more comfortable wearing my hair out. I’m looking forward to each and every stage. Personally I’m glad didn’t get loc extensions like I wanted to because the lesson on instant gratification wouldn’t have hit the same for me.
I started exactly 4 days after you! 10/17/21. While I’m enjoying the journey I’m finding myself starting to lose patience nearing my 1yr mark which is what led me to this video. I feel like my growth should be further along but another commenter said that the first year is not really about growth but more about the maturation process and that helped reassure me a lot
love love love this video and your energy 😩❤️, i just finsihed my microlocs on myself 2 days ago and i must say i am in love but just self conscious about how big my head and forehead is & bc of the shrinkage it looks even bigger😔 , but overall i cant wait to see my locs flourish & hopefully i get out of this self conscious stage
I’ve enjoyed every single moment of my journey... started it myself with 140 coils... my hair was super short and I wore headwraps mostly then after 30 days I went to get it professionally done and I now have 103... after that I never covered my locs again...I just needed my foundation perfected which she did... I’m loving this journey! My hair was meant to do just what it’s doing. Should’ve done this in my 30s.
Awww, thanks so much 🙏🏾😊💕 I’ve learned an attitude of gratitude leads to more blessings and more peace!!! So much to be thankful for... Thanks for being here and sending some love my way!
I'm almost 4 in later this month. Still in the beginning phase. I have a lot of slippage from not knowing how to take care of my hair properly, but I have a new loctician who is helping me to stay positive about my progress.
You’re just a natural beauty. That smile is heavenly. I love your spirit. Ok now lol in the beginning I was excited because I said I know I can do this I can twist. I keep my hair covered in public for spiritual reasons so that was great for me starting out. I’m 4 to 5 months in and I still get frustrated with some just still unraveling and restarting them. What is encouraging is I do see the budding more in the middle of my loc and some ends. I am patiently waiting for the roots to loc up. I am hanging in there and will give my hair a year to see where it goes and how I like it. My hair is growing so that’s a good thing. I have different feelings on different days about what’s going on with my hair. I love it’s easy care. I wear a lot of protective styles to keep my hair from unraveling until it locs completely. I just love your videos. Keep them coming because you are fabulous. Congrats on your new home beautiful 🌹
Awww!!! Thank you so much. You are such a blessing to me and everyone in this community ❤️ stay encouraged and know I’ve got your back! You’ve got this. Wishing you the happiest journey 👸🏾
I am 1 yr. Into my loc journey. The shrinkage is real. The style I’m wearing is a bob with sea shell throughout the sides of my locs. The sea shell gives my look lots of shape and style for the bob style. Also the complements are nice.
When I started to loc my hair I was so scared of it shrinking, so I started my loc by interlocking it first then started to palm roll my locs. I am so happy that I started to go natural and loc my hair. Loving my hair grew my edges back and I am going on 4 years being loc'd now and really loving it.
I just started 2 days ago! I am excited about my journey, however, I am very nervous. I have about 80 locs and they are earlobe length, so yes shrinkage is real. I’m just going to need the encouragement along the way and keep telling myself this is my journey and no matter what anyone thinks or say it’s my hair, my journey. Thank you so much for this video!
Love your video. I'm still in the beginner loc stage. I did research for so long and just decided to finally do it. I love it beside the itching but I'm still so excited to see where my journey takes me. I also think this whole process will be mentally freeing for me. I was ready for change and I'm glad I finally took this step.
Soooo proud of you and happy you decided to just do it! I felt so free when I started and I’m honestly feeling more liberated every single day 🙏🏾💕🥳👑 have you learned anything about yourself so far?
@@AlexisHarris I'm learning to live a little and take risks. Starting this journey is definitely a risk for me but one that I am so ready for. I also teaching me to me not try and be so perfect with my hair. I will embrace the frizz and "bad hair days."
Omg!!! Congratulations on your first ten days 😍😊 that’s so exciting! I haven’t heard from many who start with braids so I’d love to stay updated on your new journey!!! Hello frizz ☺️💕
@ stopcryingchii: I've had mine for 91/2 weeks. Started back in Jan. with braiding my natural hair. More braid down, less 2 strand twist. 2 weeks ago I decided to open up the braid and restart with two strand twist when I realized the 2 strand twist part of it was locking faster than the braid part and the braid pattern would take forever to disappear. Also my hair wouldn't be as full as I wanted it to be as I already have fine hair. Absolutely loving it the way it is now but will definitely have to embrace all that frizz and loose hairs.
I’m now today at two weeks. Beginning stage still. But I already see a little hair growth. I’m so excited. Can’t wait to see what I’ll have in the next 3-4 months.
Hi new to your channel. I just stared my loc journey today so I’m only 12 hours in. You’re right the shrinkage is real. My hair length was a short bob. I’m here for the journey. 😊
I’m in the pre-loc stage and I’m loving it. 2 months in my loc Journey. I made my first mistake a week after my stylist did my first Retwist and much to water on my scalp 🤦🏽♀️ so I had to get a few loc re-twist. I’m excited and loving my journey. I’m seeing a lot of budding, and this has been helping me with patience. I’m enjoying learning the inner me. I’m also seeing growth 😊 Congrats on your home 🏡
Beginner stage for the third time, first two times were two strand twist with interlocking (first set lasted 3 weeks because I didn’t like the parts, second set lasted 7 1/2 months but I decided interlocking wasn’t for me I was creating holes in my locs). I started my third set 5 days ago (12/28/2020) with finger coils and I’m so in love and excited to watch my hair transform 😍 third times the charm I have no intentions on starting over again for sure.
Hey Kayla! I love your story 😍😊🥳 congratulations on your third loc journey!!! I’m so happy you’re happy. And you’re absolutely right... 3rd time is a charm! Keep me posted on how your hair progresses!!! Happy new year 🎊
Hello, thank you for sharing! I just want to say I have begun my loc journey(4/29- two strand) and am super excited. My hair loves to be left alone. During my natural journey I wore a lot of protective styles. So starting my locs was an easy choice to make. I call them my lil babies because shrinkage is definitely real. But I'm here for it all!
Yaaaaassss queen!!!! Love your energy and I’m so happy you’re here. Congratulations on your new journey! I’m excited for you. The shrinkage is so real but it’s also worth it. I’m so impressed by what our hair can do!
I’m 4 months locd and despite frizz and shrinkage, I love my locs. They are so freeing. I tried wearing two strand twists for a month. Then took them down, washed my hair and hennaed it then installed 2 strand twists for my starter locs. Love your channel and your locs❤️
Thanks I needed this bit of encouragement. I was starting to feel a little down about my hair ( I'm 4 months locked btw) and the frizz is real and I'm not seeing much changes just budding at the root only so my hair looks pretty much like old twists. But this reminded me that I won't be in this stage forever and soon I will see a lot of changes and my hair will start to look more like locs. But yeah this journey has been rough but I am learning to love my hair at every stage and not just when I reach my goal. Your locs look amazing btw and they've thickened up so much!!
Hey Aneika!!! I’m so happy you found this video helpful. Thanks for taking some time to share your experience with me and with the community! Four months loc’d is a pretty big deal so congratulations to you on sticking with it. Honestly, I felt similarly to you around that time on my journey. I was still excited but the enthusiasm lowered a bit because the shrinkage and frizz were soooooo real!!! I think I even expressed my frustration in one of my past videos actually lol but keep it up because the reward is soooo WORTH IT 😍 sending you lots of love!!! In this together 🥳
On my first loc journey, I was so nervous but excited . I was so obsessed with everything Locs! Second loc journey , I am very confident and excited on learning new things and remembering so old tips as well! Shrinkage is a beast but it is what is! I have some budding 😊
Omgggg, congratulations on your SECOND loc journey love 💕💕💕 that’s so exciting!!! Did you change the size of your locs or do anything different this time?
Almost my whole back have bulbs but the front is still curly coils... the front is still frizzy like crazy the back much less frizz... I’ll be 6 months in on 1/14. It’s crazy how your hair can be in different stages at the same time.
Exactly! Our locs are capable of doing beautifully wild things!!! My mom’s hair sounds like yours. She’s got so much frizz going on! I always encourage her to embrace it 😍 to me, it’s a good sign!
Hey Alexis..I enjoyed this video it has given me insight on what to expect going forward. Today is 7 weeks locd for me. I'm loving my journey...thanks for the inspiration. 😊
Hey Crystal! Awww, I’m so glad you found this video useful 😊💕 thanks for tuning in and leaving some love!!! Congratulations on 7 weeks loc’d 🥳 that’s so exciting!!!!!
I enjoyed your video. I started my locks yesterday. 01-19-2022. I am very excited. When locks first came out I couldn't stand them now I've grown to love them
Thank you for your videos. I did two strands twist and I am over 5months locs. I have been watching your videos since the beginning of my journey. Your hair texture is very similar to my hair texture. My hair seem to be growing fast but shrinkage is real. I have been watching your videos for inspiration and motivation. Your locs are fabulous 😍. I can’t wait for the final stage. Thank you for your videos.
Awww, thank you so much for being here!!! People like you make this community so special 😭😊💕 your comment inspired me to keep going. I appreciate you so much!!! Happy loc journey beautiful soul
I just began my second Loc journey a week ago. I had locs several years ago for approximately 4 years. I am feeling somewhat excited. I enjoyed your video...thank you for sharing the information,
I love your channel! And congratulations on the move!! I'm currently 2 and a half months locked. I think I'm currently in the pre-loc stage, most of my locs have started to expand but some of them still look like little coils lol It's been an exciting journey but it's also been difficult adjusting to the new look especially because I've been a loose natural my whole life. The shrinkage is crazyyyy, but I'm trying to take every day as it comes and just enjoy the transformation :)
Hi, Nadine!!! Let me just say I love your hair. Your profile photo is gorgeous 😍 I’m sure your locs are beautiful and will flourish in amazing ways!!! Congratulations on almost 3 months loc’d 😊🥳 and thanks for sending some love my way :)
Thank you for a thorough explanation of our individual loc journeys. This being my fourth set of locs (interlocked method), I'm looking forward to growing healthier hair this time around.
I’m in my starter lol phase right now! Not even 1 Month in . I started my comb coils on my own! I have a retwist on the 31st 😍 I’m so excited for my hair to start budding up
Congratulations on the new home!!! It looks beautiful!... the one you mentioned is one of the first loc videos I’ve ever watched and I subscribed to her immediately because she is dope and knowledgeable.
Just started my journey 6 days ago! So glad I came across your channel, a lot of helpful information. Your locs are beautiful! Love your energy and gorgeous smile😍.
6 days in!!! Let’s goooooo 😍😍😍🎉🎉🎉👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🥳🥳 i’m so incredibly happy for you. What’s your favorite part of the journey so far? Thanks for being here and leaving some love. You definitely made my day!
Happy Holidays young lady! Congratulations on your new home. I'm so excited for you and your sweetie. This year has really shown me how blessed I am to have locs. It's taught me a lot about myself; mind, body, and spirit. I went to a stylist to get my loose natural hair styled in two strand twists. I've maintained my own locs throughout my 3 year loc journey. I started my locs with finger coils. I've experienced everything you described in the 5 stages. I'm also a subscriber to the young lady you mentioned in your video. It was great watching her loc journey as well. I wish you and your family many blessings for the new year and beyond.
Hi sis!! New sub here!! I loc’d my hair on May 19th!! So stage 1 Comb coils. I’m so interested in loc journey videos now! This is very helpful content for me! Thank you!♥️
Hey beautiful!!! 💖 thank you so much for subscribing. Congratulations on your new journey. Comb coils are so exciting. You are in for an amazing experience!!! I’m so glad you find these videos useful. Keep me updated and remember I’m here for you every step of the way! 🥳🥳🥳
Hey Lady! I went to Gloria last week. She was amazing and kind, I will be returning. Im officially 5 months loc'd! I am enjoying my journey. #congratualtions on your new beginnings. When I started my loc journey, I wished I started sooner.
Awww! Hey Victoria!!! Soooo glad you had a great experience with Gloria 😊💕 I definitely agree that I wish I started my loc journey sooner too! But so happy to be on this journey finally!!! Happy new year love 💕 thanks for the congratulations!!!
Hello! Congratulations on your new home! I am just now 6 months into my loc journey and I love your explanation of each stage. I am loving my locs more and more every day. Thanks for sharing your loc journey with us. Take care and I am looking forward to seeing your next video in 2021.
Hi lovely! Thank you so much for your encouragement and support. It’s exciting to hear we’re around the same length of time on our journeys! I’m so glad you found this video useful. See you in the new year!!! 😊💕🙏🏾
I started my locs on Nov 10, 2022 and I’m loving my loc journey so far I’ve been loc’d for about two weeks now I get my first retwist on week 3 and I’ll be coming up one month loc’d on Dec 10th ❤❤❤
thus month for me It will be 12months for me having my locs, theu told me mines wouldn't loc either, it will. 😌 it may take a little longer, but your hair will loc, fake a break from conditioners, keep a simple routine, don't dye your lixs and just enjoy the journey. 💖
Hey Shanell!!! Congratulations on your new journey. I’m so excited for you and I’m happy you decided to loc your hair even though people told you your hair wouldn’t loc!!!! They told my mom the same thing and her hair is perfectly fine a year later. Ma’s locs are gorgeous!!! I agree with Celestial 😍😊🙏🏾🥳
Hv been locked for 2yrs now ( If I count a year bidding stage) n I love my beginner stage cus It was a mixed feeling where panicked n then I love it .... Above all m glad of my journey
New subscriber! I'm happy I found your channel. I just began my loc journey 8/6/22 so I'm 4 days in and very excited! I went to a loctician abd started my locs with two strand twists ❤️
I just found this video and i am so happy. i installed my two strand twists last months and i have been loving it. I just did my retwists to tighten my roots. I am so excited for the look of dreads but also to not have to really be so high maintenance with my hair like it was when i was curly natural and straight natural. it became too much which is why i chose dreads. i have 6yrs post big chop and i have reach my length goals for both curly and straight now it is time for something new =)
I'm baaaack! Happy 2021 my beautiful Alexis. Congratulations on the move! I'm stuck on determining the right size of locs for me... I'm ready to start this beautiful journey. 💞💞 Lots of love and light to you.
Yaaaaay! Hey, Kauna and happy new year 🎈🎊🎆 it’s always soooo great hearing from you! Can’t wait to hear what size and how many locs you have 😘 sending you love and lots of hugs!!
You're so pretty ❤ thank you for this video. Im 1 year 2 months in but it doesnt feel like it. My locs are grazing my back right now i have about 1.5 to 2 inches of new growth, they look a bit like long cheese doodles (the crunchy ones) and the ends are curly lol ❤
Hey beautiful 🩷 thanks so much for being here and congrats on your journey! I’m hoping you enjoy every step of the process lol (crunchy doodles and all 😌😂) Keep me posted and let me know how things are going.
I love your positivity! I’m in early beginner stage , not sure if I like my parts yet , as I did it my self with two strand twists , but I believe I should keep it as is !
Love this video! Thanks so much for sharing this info with us. 🥰 I’m nearly at the three month mark on my loc journey. My hair started budding really quickly (about two weeks in) and I think I’m pretty solidly in the “sprouting” stage for the most part. I’m definitely struggling a bit at this point with the contradiction between wanting to maintain a neat retwist (and help ward off marrying at the root, which is such a big problem for me) and needing to regularly treat a really dry, itchy scalp (I spray a blend of aloe juice and essential oils directly on my scalp daily to ward off the maddening itchiness). I’m hoping the itchiness will calm down sooner than later so I can just live my life and stop thinking about my hair so much. 😂😭
Hey Jayda! Thanks for the love and support 😍😊 loved reading your comment. It was so poetic lol. You write so beautifully. Congratulations on 3 months loc’d!!! Early on, I had terrible itchiness too. Still deal with it from time to time. I just washed my hair a few days ago because my scalp was itching so badly! So I understand completely lol it gets better as time goes on and becomes less frequent (at least it did for me!). Wishing you a happy loc journey. Keep me posted 😘 P.S. - I have to try aloe Vera juice!
Hi beautiful. Congratulations on your new home. Enjoy it. I just reached 1 year with my locs on 12-27-20 so excited. I am in the third stage which you referred to as the sprouting stage. I call it the teenage stage no longer babies but not mature yet. My first year went by so fast can't wait until I have made it 3 years as by that time I should have some real length. I always say trust the journey and only good things will happen. Loved the video as always. Be safe.
Hi lovely lady!!! Thanks so much for the love and encouragement over the months 😍😊 you always bless me with your light and wisdom! Love that you call it the teenage stage. Ready for my first year loc’d!!! Happy new year beautiful!!!!
First of all congratulations on your new warm and cozy home 💕. Second, I am just like you I am still in the beginner stage but I am embracing it 🥰 I’ve not looked back. I started locing my hair at a perfect time in my life b/c it began my self love journey. As of right now I am 6 m/o in but my locs are locing very quickly. The back is taking a minute to loc but I’m just being patient with it however, it still helps me be excited ! 😊 💕
Hello beautiful! Thank you so much for being here and leaving so much love. Congratulations on your journey! Please keep me posted and know I’m here to support you along the way!!! 😍😍🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳💕💕💕
I just subscribed and I’m so excited to start my loc journey in February! Your voice is so soothing and you have such an infectious smile 😊. I have to go watch all your loc videos now!!
Hi, Morgan! Awww, yaaay!!! February will be here before you know it. I’m soooo excited for you!!! Thanks so much for sending some love my way 😊💕 people like you make this community so much brighter!!! Let me know when you get started so I can cheer you on 🥳
Hi I’m new to my loc journey and I’m excited and optimistic and so ready to see the growth and see what it’s going to do😊 I’ve been loc’d for 2 months next week 🥰🥰
@@AlexisHarris aww I most definitely will I find myself watching others journey for the motivation I need to keep going and I must say it’s exciting I actually watched 3 of yours just learning and getting tips on what to actually expect so when it happens I’ll know what it is😂😂 I’m so geeked🥰🥰
I love your hair and the video was so helpful. I am at 5 weeks and I admit, I'm loving it, friz and all. Don't like it when it's first twisted but after a week it's great. I have a few bulbs on some of my lock and I something was wrong, no one told me that was normal, lol. Going to enjoy each stage now that I have some needed information.
I am a new subscriber! I loved your video and the vibe was very welcoming. This is my third loc journey and I am hoping that I am completely satisfied this time, the longest I have gone is 8 months locd.🤦🏾♀️ this time I am feeling like I want thick locs. So I am so excited and always loved to others experiences!
Awww, thanks so much for subscribing and sending some love my way!!! I love that you’ve been on this journey a few times before and you decided to start again! I’m a fan of thick locs and I hope you LOVE YOUR NEW LOCS!!! 😍😊💕 wishing you the happiest loc journey ever. Keep me posted on how things are flourishing please love! Stay safe and well
I started my loc journey July 2, 2023. I think I’m between 2 & 3. I’m finding a lot of bulbs but my ends are very curly. Some of the 2strands twist are looser at the end. But the middle there is a bulb. I’m loving this stage my hair looks really curly but very frizzy. I’m sooo looking forward to it maturing.
Hi I'm a new Subscriber from South Carolina. I love your video's! My S/O had his locs for about 10 years & they're down his back. My 10 yr old daughter is 6 months loc'd & I love it. I've been contemplating getting them for years but haven't done it yet. I need to "man up" because I LOVE me a dread head. Thanks for the videos bc your voice is so calming.
Hey beautiful! Awww, so glad you’re here 😊💕 thanks for taking some time to leave some encouragement! Means more than you know. Sounds like you’re well on your way to getting locs ma’am!!! Keep me posted 😘
Hey beautiful! Thanks so much 😊💕🙏🏾 I’m so happy you’re here. I appreciate the love and encouragement more than you know!!! Happy five months loc’d 🥳 so exciting!!!
Thanks for this video ! I am 10 weeks loc'd and I am between stage 2 and stage 3....and siiiis the frizz though! Like you said each of my locs are on a different journey; I still have a few that are still in two strand twists and others that are in early stage 4. I really love being on this journey cause it has taught me a lot about who I am, and I learn to love myself all the more through the process. Looking forward to seeing the changes. PS I absolutely love watching your videos, your smile is so communicative ☺️
Heyyyy sis!!!! So happy you’re here. Your comment was so warm and made my day!!!! Filled with love... and yaaaas, THAT FRIZZ 😂😭😍 I have a love hate relationship with frizz lol. Like you, this journey has taught me so much 🙏🏾💕 I’ve become much less self conscious and much more confident. I’m at peace and feeling so blessed! Y’all are the best. Love this loc’d community!!!
Girl I started mine yesterday and I’m just like uggghhh!!! How long is it gonna take to grow… I’m still kinda iffy but at the same time I’m super excited to see the transition ❤❤❤
Hey beautiful 😍😍😍 awww thanks so much for being here and sending some love my way! It means more than you know. Sending you all the love and tons of hugs!!!
Well, I started my braid locs 5 months ago. I was super excited and couldn't wait to see progress on my braids. I was also very comfortable because as a loose natural I usually styled my hair in twists or braids so everything was all good. However, I soon started to see frizz which I do not like so I've spent the last few months trying to embrace the frizz. But I keep going hoping to see more progress soon. Enjoyed the content but I'm trying not feel daunted about having to go through all those stages lol
