Those fish are not wasted. They are pushed right back over. Of the ones that don't survive, the sharks, birds, tuna, and other predators quickly eat the free meal and complete the cycle of life... nothing is wasted.
takes 4 guys to pick all this shrimp?when i was shrimping in mobile bay alabama me and 1 other deck hand was taking care of more shrimp then this by ourselves...the captain and the boat was losing to much money
76guessagain they were on a recreation tour, it takes 2 hands n 10 fingers to sling eyeballs n whizkers. As slow as they were some lively pinfish woulda woke their slow asses up,lol.
i would love to owe a shrimp boat i can see me having my owe tackle shop and i could sell my by catch as bait and etc. but that's just wishful thinking
Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. There's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it
go ask 5 times like i did till a captain says yes but its backbreaking the hours out boat word is 3 day at sea 4pm to 7am if the waters rough during the night in the day if calm but we are always in rough water so most of the night
screw them damn fish they cost us a huge shrimping trip we couldnt even afford our 4k in fuel when we let the nets out they spilled almost to the winch on a 75 footer
why cant you drop the net directly on the table? makes sorting easier no? how do you get all the small shrimp or big shrimp categorized? via net size? season timing? or you have to sort them all out by hand? lotta bycatch
I would fish or work on a shrimp boat the rest of my life if i could. You boys have all the fun. Most of us guys have to work on land. At least i can watch these cool videos.
You guys should watch "prawn trawling the GULF of carpintaria" videos, there trawlers are much more advanced in my opinion. On board processing etc. check it out. Nice vid though, love my prawn/shrimp fishing
I've caught more shrimp pulling a set of 12's roller framing for brown hoppers up in Crystal n Hommasassa bays in Florida in the day . Night shrimp a hopper is in 2 1/2 foot of water on a 28 ft tunnel hull boat called the Jenny B . 7 10 minute drags all night, garbage monsters from hell 200 pound bags of rolling moss n pound a minute of 10 15's by myself n not run away from it!
catching what small fish you must be talkin about shads and all that good by catch that's thrown back wow that's killing a lot of small fish when they use them for bait wow bro
Frank you must of never seen the amount of fish Louisiana has in its waters huh? Unlike most country's in the world the US actually protects its resources. Also they had industry's that didn't come back to the State after Hurricane Katrina that targeted these fish you are crying about. They helped keep them from being insanely over populated. Which Now since there is only one Shad plant along the coast to catch these fish. Also they can only fish for 6 months out the year. please go cry elsewhere or come and experience this for urself before you cry. Thanks.
I'm a shrimper of 15yrs and it's not easy work.i was 3rd mate on a crew of 3, the boat a 55v-hual out of NC, the Mary Jane, was the name of the captains wife.long story short I was thrown overboard by a rouge wave the boat sunk myself and the 2mate survived, this happened in 1989 and I never got on another boat since
