DARREN! Could you please make a video describing all the terms you use. Pin up pin down, RG, Diff, cover stocks, symmetrical or a symmetrical. I would like to know more of the details and your videos have always been very helpful.
Darren. Thanks for the bag update video. That jersey is very cool! I only have 4 pieces, looking for the final 2. Pitch Black, Phaze 2, Duo, Hustle M-M. Maybe a Magic Gem or BW 2.0 Hybrid for the top, and a VEBO and/or Journey for the middle. I may swap out the Duo. It's good until it isn't.
My first draft of a tournament bag for next season is alpha crux, IQ tour, xponent, eternity, phaze v, Tropical Surge. I wonder why the Surge isn't used more often as a burn ball. In college we were sponsored by RBI so I couldn't use all of my favorite spi balls, but I distinctly remember everyone getting a sneak attack of some sort for the burn. Any thoughts on hyroad pearl vs tropical surge?
I’m a regular league bowler not tournament bowler here. I use the Surge later in the night for sure . Almost every week. Our house is very very low oil so it’s a nice addition for me later in the night
Hi Darren - I have a question. What are your thoughts on using the Storm Ice bowling ball? I’m thinking of using it for picking up spares. By the way I’m in a Junior bowling league. Many thanks for your reply
Would a weaker/smoother Xponent be a good stepdown from a stronger Journey layout if they're both shiny? Obviously on sport shots I would probably hit the Journey with about 1500 to help it on fresh, and then I'd probably hit the Xponent with around 2000 to help it get through the fronts but still be sharp. Would this work do you think?
@@nathanielcha4128 The cover is fairly weak, and hitting it with 1000 would make it read too early. But 2000 is fairly benchmark for me; shiny enough to float through the fronts, but dull enough to read the mid well and give a smooth controllable reaction
@@ianhoneycutt3858 ah I see. Then per your question, I would think the xponent would be a good step down since the journey although a clean ball is still smooth and not too jerky leading me to believe it’s a bit stronger (I don’t know the numbers). They are both pretty stable but from what I’ve seen it would probably be a step down.
@@nathanielcha4128 The Journey is nice because it floats through the fronts and mids really well, but holy CRAP is it angular. I may need to knock the reactagloss off of it to tame the backends. (I have a really high friction house) Tonight I was standing on 40 pushing the ball out to 8 at the breakpoints and leaving the rail. The Xponent is looking like the perfect ball down from it, which is what I wanted in the first place
@ianhoneycutt3858 honestly with all of the amazing releases from storm you can't really make a bad decision to be honest. Xponent would be a good step down or a ruby, hyroad pearl, or even the hustles.
Do people actually use 6 balls? That sounds maniacal. I can't realistically imagine needing more than 3. A spare ball, and two strike balls for different amounts of oil on the lane. Am I wrong?
@seth8844 yeah it can get crazy. I got a lot of balls. I just use house shot to play around and learn new balls. If I don't have a new ball we go for score.
I bowl backup because of an injury. I know its not ideal, but I cannot handle throwing any other ways, my wrist cannot handle it. Any tips (specifically for ball selection) for those of us that choose to throw backup, or have to?
Your videos are interesting and probably even moreso if I knew what you were talking about half of the time. I guess I'm to much of a beginner to be able to fully appreciate what you're saying. I feel like I'm an 8th grader and accidently walked into a college physics class.
The high road has been my favorite ball in my bag. I haven’t really had an arsenal update in the wild and my high road is 5 years old and I’m gonna get a new one but it has done so mych for me and I love it
My pops needs something that's not so aggressive off the back end he doesn't have the ball speed he used to. I told him a symmetric ball or a solid ball. Any recommendations?!
GB2 would be my suggestion. Very controllable piece with that signature sweeping, rounded motion blends out many patterns nicely. Surface can be easily tuned if you want as well. The entire Game Breaker line is amazing. Ball is in both my house and sport league bags.
@Jarrid313 for me it was too heavy and it hooks hard. So I had to change my style bowling to 2 hands. So I gotta adjust. I was too use to the house balls.
Weird, “best current bowling balls” but you’re a storm staffer, you don’t get to throw the best current bowling balls since they are made by the Brunswick brands
@@aydno I’ve thrown a few of storms recent releases and a few Brunswick recent releases, brands of Brunswick balls just looked better from anywhere, major difference with the pearls since storm uses reactagloss which just can’t compete against hk22, solids from both are good, although I’d say there’s more/better options with Brunswick
