Gatti Ward round 9 is arguably the single greatest round in the history of boxing. How could it possibly not be number one on the list let alone not even make the list.
Man!! The Corrales fight !!That shit was insane!!! Perfect example of no matter how many time you’re down in life, Never give up , keep fighting because you just never know!!!! 💯 RIP Corrales!!
right but castillo was robbed tho. given too much time in the 1st kdown, then again in the 2nd with even longer delay cuz of the mouth piece again which was spat. if it's no standing 8 count, he should be out cuz he stood at 9
@@nassiglutt6587 I agree with you but I wouldn't say "robbed." It was a veteran move to get extra time. All athletes do this in other sports. Yellow card when goalkeeper takes too long to kick the ball, delay of game in the NFL. Plus he got penalized for his actions.
Great round, but at a lower level. Two of the best of all time going at it like alleycats in the first rnd blew everybodys mind. Including mine, but yes Gatti Ward should deffo be on the list. @@SCORP1ONF1RE
My dad won tickets on the radio for this fight and our tickets were awesome. We had no idea we were about to watch boxing history. The crowd was fucking wild.
This is not "boxing history." Unless your idea of history only goes back 20 years. Also, to include the Fury fight is an absolute joke. Take a look at Norton vs. Holmes round 15 for the heavyweight title.
Foreman v Lyle round 4. Two top 10 heavyweights. Bombs thrown without caution. Lyle knocks Foreman down, gets up knocks Lyle down, more bombs traded then Foreman down again. Could be the best 3 minutes in boxing history. You forgot to include it.
Or, no matter how many times you get knocked down, be sure to spit out your mouthpiece to buy yourself a good 15-20 more seconds to recover! Great fight, though.
These were all great fight rounds in boxing history. How did they not mention gatti vs ward 1 round 9? One of the best fights I have seen that I could watch over and over. I enjoyed it more so because of these two mens history. They became best friends and micky even trained gatti for his last fight because buddy wasn’t willing to train gatti any more.
Hearns va hagler was something special two champions both superstars both future hall of famers not ducking and talking around like the champs of today simply going to war and giving everything. And the outcome is this masterpiece not instagram followers just fighitng at the best
I have been a fan of the sport for 40+ years from Ali/Frazier 1, Gatti Ward fight 1 round 9 is objectively the best round in modern fighting history (Haggler/Hearns round 1) right behind. Jim Lampley actually gets emotion when he talks about it in the documentary Legendary Nights.
Top Rank certainly got the first two correct. I was too young to watch the Hearns/Hagler fight live, but what a round. And, I will never forget Corrales/Castillo. The best fight I have ever seen to this date. Dynamite!
Hagler kicked the crap out of Sugar Ray Leonard for 2:40 of every round and lost because the judges considered Leonards 30 second fluries more than the rest of the round. Hagler was the best there was. Duran was up there too. Hearns was great too. Those were fights.
@@franciszapotocky9579 I have to disagree. On some of your points. The SRL fight, when I watched it live on TV I thought SRL edged it. When I saw it later Hagler was obviously winning the rounds. He certain wasn't knocking the crap out of SRL else Leonard wouldn't have had anything jn the tank at the end if the rounds to pull the those eye catching flurries. Point is Hagker was champion, he did win the rounds but even if the judges had scored it with less bias towards SRL there is no way any champion loses that kind of fight. That being said as an all round fighter SRL is in my top 5 all time best. He was better than Hagler, just not at middleweight. Hearns comes after Hagler and Duran I can't abide. I saw his fight live against Ken Buchanen and my opinionofvhim never changed. Elite sport is a matter of fine margins. And Duran when he was getting done could always be relied upon to have 2 ridiculous advantages. 1. He could foul with impunity, folks do bad and so obvious he should have been thrown out if boxing. 2. He could foul with impunity if the fighter he was facing wasn't "protected". I dont deny he had guts and determination, punching power and decent boxing skills but when he was being done amd he didn't have that protection he fell apart. He's vastly over rated IMO. When I think of greats he's not fit to lace the gloves of SRL, Ali, Salvador Sanchez, Pacquioa.
That Hagler, Hearns first round was better than anything Money Mayweather has ever done in the ring, not to mention they had two more rounds of pretty much the same thing
Some believe the stoppage of Castillo by Corrales was unfair as Diego was dropped twice and given those chances. This is false. Diego got time to recup when he went down and he also lost a point for spitting out the mouth piece, buying more time. Castillo never went down. He was knocked out standing and taking ferocious punches. Corrales was a huge puncher too and he was blasting him, Castillo was helpless. You have to stop it.
Yeah but he bought himself a lot more time. And then Gooseneck takes his time, as he should, putting back mouthpiece. 10 secs became half a minute or more
That was just smart. And corrales was fine after those knockdowns. He was actually stronger and more accurate after second one. And castillo was also hitting below the belt, but corrales didn't get no time for that..! That was the GOAT fight, and you mexicans just wanna make excuses.
Spitting his mouthpiece each time he got knockdown was done on purpose to buy time and recover. I could give him the benefit of the doubt if the spitting only happens once. He did it twice so in my opinion it's cheating.
I gotta say Diego (chico) Corrales Dawg this Warrior wouldn't stay down this is what you call a Warrior he kept getting up even when he was hurt and show the world what it means to be a Boxer🎯 This will be history in his name R.I.P Warrior... Wepa Chico..
That ref counts like this, "1, 2, 3, go over there... over there... hey, you all right? 4, hey, you ok? Put your gloves up, 5." That count should've been 10 long ago. That ref must've placed his house and wife on Fury lmao
#1 IS the greatest round of all time! I watched this live and it was spectacular! The best 9 minutes in boxing. Two absolute warriors at their prime. When champion fought champion. #2 was awesome.
I'm surprised Foreman vs Lyle round 4 didnt make the list. It's #1 to me because they're hard hitting heavyweights. But nothing wrong with Hagler vs Hearns at the top
That Corrales - Castillo was an incredible round... not sure how the Wilder-Fury round made it on the list but I guess these are Top Rank highights..HBO After Dark would be great to compare against.
I got to talk to chico about this fight before he died. I asked "what keeps you going when you're taking a pounding?". He said " I can't lose in front of my kids. So tragic.
I have watched hundreds of fights and seen so much fierce action over the years, it’s hard to believe this is the best list they could come up with. Ali, the greatest of all time, but that was nowhere near one of the best rounds I have ever watched.
The Wilder/Fury round was in the 6 best rounds OF ALL TIME? Nothing even happened in the first 2:00. I like this channel, but the list in this video must have some special criteria that they’re not sharing with us. Ridiculous.
@@scottodonnell7121 He got up, fought on, and prevailed. You're telling me he spat out his mouth guard to buy time ? Well ,good on him. Beats biting your opponents ears off. Duh.
That Fury vs Wilder fight clip, damn, that ref counts like this, "1, 2, 3, go over there... over there... hey, you all right? 4, hey, you ok? Put your gloves up, 5." That count should've been 10 long ago. That ref must've placed his house and wife on Fury lmao
I remember that ref being the same for both of them when they went down. Slow count for sure, but fair on both sides. I thought the ref in the second fight was much worse and the count in the first fight was an eternity.
@@youllgetonetwoed Bruh, what? He got beat twice and the third was back and forth. The first, Fury got like a 14 second real life count and with how out of it he was, got extremely lucky the count was picked up. His eyes were dead for the first 3 seconds.
After the first number 6 and seeing the round of Tyson Fury being knocked down twice, you just know the others are not worth watching when its clearly a much better round in the Tyson v Wilder fight where we see Wilder knocked clean out
I grew fighting here and there with Hagler as my world fan, And I always trained to have a body like Hearns - I did both in Martial Arts Thank you Hagler and Hearns
Ward vs Gatti was good but no disrespect to either fighters but they weren’t elite fighters I don’t even think they were champions or in Their prime, don’t get me wrong it was a great fight regardless but them not being elite or in their prime I think takes a little off the fight imho.
I totally respect your opinion!!! But Gatti vs Ward I round 9 , In my opinion was the top 5 greatest round ever. The title reads top 6 greatest rounds. Not top 6 rounds by elite fighters. Just my opinion
Ngl Wilder got cheated bruh the ref got to 6 on the second knockdown turned to Wilder to tell him to go to the corner then picked back up at 6 that’s some bullshit still 😒
THE CORRALES/CASTILLO WAS THE MOST BRUTAL HANDS DOWN, I BET IF YOU TALK TO THE FAMILIES OF EITHER MEN THEYLL TELL YOU THEY WERE NEVER THE SAME AGAIN.....THE FEROCITY, AND SOUNDS OF THOSE PUNCHES WERE SCARY, AND I NEVER SAID THAT IN MY LIFE.....
Both counts by the ref was very questionable in the Wilder Fury fight. Shouldn’t pause at 5 then pickup 2 seconds later at 6. Both counts took well over 10 seconds if you watch the clock and the ref only counted to 8. 🤔🤔
While I agree and said that during the fight. Wilder could’ve ended the fight long ago by throwing more intelligent uppercuts that punch was there all three fights especially the 3rd n 2nd cause fury was doing all that leaning
@@graylineodell8694 True. If Wilder had just a little more boxing IQ Fury wouldn't have had a chance. & that ref was bought by Furys manager at the time. They switched refs fight week.
Love all the Hagler/ Hearns stuff. That and Gatti/Ward I think are the 2 matchups where I rooting for both! Not sure who I want to win cause I like them all so much!
For anyone saying Gatti Ward isn’t on this list, please remember that that round is so far above any other fighting round in history, it’s not worth to put on any list. It’s above anything else.
I remember I watched this fight live and I was like wow. It seemed like Corrales was done and really all the other guy had to do was move around and coast the last seconds but he chose to exchange and that didn't work out too well. Great fight.
Watching this makes me glad that HBO existed. Barrera v Morales and Bradley v provodnikov would still be great fights but that broadcast team made them legendary
