What's in a gin? Well, a lot actually. In this video, I go over six of the most commonly used botanicals in gin. We have juniper of course, which is the defining ingredient in gin, coriander seeds, citrus fruits, cassia bark, orris root, and angelica root. So let's go!

You should continue this and characterize more gin botanicals and even perhaps exemplify commercial gins we can find that focusses on some of these botanicals. This was enjoyable and informative.

I found this video very helpful! I realized last year that I absolutely love the taste of gin. After trying different models I'm doing my own gin infusion right now. I plan on splitting the bass off into two different old Tom style gins I guess you would call them. One with apple and grapefruit and the other will be blueberry Ginger.

Another informative episode on various junipers for making various flavored gins. Not a particularly gin drinker. But I learnt a lot of common gin botanicals by watching the narrative from Miss Brewbird. Educational video as always.

I'm still trying to get my taste for gin, and figuring which flavours turn me away has made me think of tinctures. This little video helped narrow some things down, and save me from hunting down the roots that have nothing to do with taste. Thank you so much Brewbird!

Fascinating, Brewbird! You are a gifted teacher. Excellent graphics, music and presentation. If I had read a transcript of the video I think it would have been rather dry, but your presentation is really quite riveting. I am not quite sure how you do that. Thank you for all your hard work and attention to detail. Don’t stop dear Lady!

although making gin is pretty easy...it's really not. Sure, putting a bunch of stuff in a still and get something drinkable is easy, get the right proportion of botanicals, use significant ones (I have seen so many recipies with botanicals that don't even show up), and use the apropriate technique to extract the best of every botanical, the % of ABV for maceration, the time for maceration, even the "cut" for each individual botanical during distillation...etc...so many variables!...now, if you add the variability of year to year or supplier to supplier variation of each botanical....and I'm only talking about my recipe that only has 5 ingridients! my god....it's a lot of fun, but a no end task!..."making gin is easy"....ha!

Thanks for the informative video Miss Brewbird! I think you have one of the best information about gin distilling! I have an video request about essancess. I want to test and find my own gin but to experiment with diferent botanicals and the amount, it would be easier to make essancess and blend together So a video about botanicals, maceration, abv, cuts and blends would be helpfull. And how to calculate to do a gin run with all the botanicals at last ☺️

@@MissBrewbird well i want to do it myself to but i have not the equipment or the right experience, but i think you have 😂 I think it is an easy way to experiment and find a good gin this way 🤔 And i can't be the only one who would like a informative video like this 🙂

HI, are you already use jasmine to create a gin? thanks
@MissBrewbird
@MissBrewbird Год назад
I think I may have used it once before. I do love jasmine. I'd probably add very little as I am afraid of gins that are too perfumey.
