It's rare to find a dedicated mechanic these days that truly knows the profession and knows what they are doing. In a lot of ways you remind me of the late Pat Goss. Perhaps it's time for PBS to reincarnante that era through you. I really believe you should have a nationally sindicated program to promote and inspire upcoming young professionals to understand and do things the correct way.

No way! I do agree he is wonderful. In a few short years CCN will exponentially grow to 2 or 3 million subscribers, control his own content and probably make much more than any network could ever promise lol! Slow, deliberate and organic growth is much more lasting also IMHO.

I had the honor of taking my 2011 Tundra CrewMax (256K miles) to TCCN yesterday (Tuesday) to have an inspection and oil change. I had a bit of a drive as I am in southern IN. I keep up with maintenance at various Toyota dealerships but I wanted to take it there for peace of mind and have a pros eyes with integrity to look it over. They did a great job, was thorough and he informed me all was good and gave me the opportunity to ask any questions or concerns that I may have. A great experience!

Our LS430 is now at 280k kms, never had any major issues apart from recent hard downshifting. It's an 04 with the 6 speed, we replaced the ECM with a used one as they are unavailable new and it was all good. The only issue is that rebuilding the ECM is not common here in Australia like it is in the US. The car is actually very frugal to run in terms of scheduled maintenance, its just parts that are hard to find.

I had the rear main oil seal done on my 2010 RAV4 around 3 years ago. Between choosing the dealership or the mechanic who referred me to the local transmission shop I opted to go with the mechanic's advice because I know my local Toyota dealership was very high traffic and I was concerned about the work quality. Still no leaks as of this posting and after watching today's episode I hope nobody never has a rear main oil seal leak problem ever. Change your oil every 8,000 KMs and don't wait until 15,000 KMs. My wife gets so annoyed having to convince the dealership to oil change but I think this is one ant hill I'd die on than to go through another oil leak again in my lifetime. Thank you for the video!

I love your methodical, good humoured approach to your work and detailed explanations of what you're doing and why. When you've had enough of being a mechanic, you should go into teaching. You'd be brilliant at it. You're right about Toyota exhaust gaskets. I had a new full stainless system, including cat, made for my Camry. The gasket the shop used was aftermarket and we couldn't get rid of a very slight blow. We tried reinstalling it a couple of times and no joy. I went down the road to the Toyota dealer and got one of theirs and it was perfect straight away. If you don't feel right about letting others put the miles on it, why not use it as your daily driver for a while?

Holding my breath when you were tightening the last two bolts. Maybe a tip from someone (Machinist) who messed up various threads over the years, never tighten all the bolts, only just put them in and cross tighten, always very loosely. What can happen is that the holes in the pan does not line up but the bolt is able to grip the thread, then you strip a bit on the bolt, and you force that into the thread, which can destroy the soft aluminium. Aluminium needs a bit of oil which will make it less vulnerable as the bolt will slide instead of gripping. Aluminum grips and cuts very easily. Another trick is, if you feel a bolt is a bit weird when putting it in, take out another bolt and switch them around, again without tightening, bolts and threads can have small tolerances, one bolt can fit one thread but not another. I love the video, really exciting project, i like how you explain and take time to do a good job. Thank you
