Join me on a driving tour around the 610 Loop in Houston, Texas. On this real time driving tour we will have a great view of a lot of different parts of Houston, Texas.
This drive begins near the Galleria area on the west side of Houston. We will drive past the Williams Tower, formerly known as Transco Tower. Continuing south from the Galleria we will take the loop all the way around to the area near the Texas Medical Center and NRG Stadium, formerly known as Reliant Stadium. Many events occur here such as conventions, Houston Texans football games and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. We will pass through the section of the Loop between the 1-10 and the exit for 59 south. This area has traffic at almost all times of every day, and is frequently mentioned on top ten lists of locations with the worst traffic in the state of Texas.
Continuing around the 610 loop we will then come to the Houston Shipping Channel and the port of Houston. We will be able to see the bridge over the shipping channel and see a lot of the industry that is affiliated with the Port of Houston. Many commercial transportation companies in shipping, trucking or rail road do business near the port of Houston. From the bridge we will have good view of all sorts of things happening. There is a lot of industry in this area.
After the Port of Houston we will continue around the 610 loop headed north, this time we will be seeing the east side of Houston, Texas. We will pass the exit for I-10, heading to Beaumont, Texas.
The loop continues around alongside a neighborhood called the Houston Heights.
Interstate 610 is often seen as the divide between inner city and outlying parts of Houston. The Loop is 38 miles long, and is the smallest of several highways that encircle Houston, Texas.
